My school is only a few blocks away, so I walk there with my neighbor Jessica. We like to play "I Spy" and other games along the way to pass the time. The walk takes about 15 minutes.School starts at 8:15 am sharp. My first class is usually math, which I'm okay at but not my favorite subject. We learn things like adding, subtracting, multiplication tables, and simple fractions. Sometimes the problems are really tricky though!After math, we have reading and writing class. This is one of my favorites because I love stories and creative writing. We read fun books and poems, discuss them as a class, and also work on our own writing skills. Just last week, I wrote a silly story about a talking dog that could speak three languages!Around 10:30 am, we get a short snack break to re-energize. I'll usually have an apple or granola bar from my lunchbox. Then it's time for science or social studies class before lunch. In science, we just started a unit about the life cycle of plants, which is really interesting. Social studies is where we learn geography, history, and about different cultures around the world.The lunch period is at 11:45 am, and it's probably my favorite time of the day! I get so hungry by that point. My mom makes me a sandwich or leftovers from dinner, plus some baby carrots,a cookie, and a juice box. I sit with Jessica and a bunch of our other friends, and we talk and laugh about anything and everything.After lunch, we have recess for a whole hour! This is the best part of the day when we can run around outside, play games, climb on the jungle gym, or hang out with our friends. I'm a big fan of kickball and four square. When it's nice out, we try to spend as much time outside as possible.Once we've had our fun in the sun, it's time for more learning in the afternoon. We have an "exploratory" class that changes each day – it could be art, music, gym, computers, or even Spanish language learning. I really enjoy art class where we get to draw, paint, and get creative with all kinds of materials.At 3:15 pm, it's finally time to go home! The walk back always feels twice as long because I'm tired from a full day. I get home around 3:30 pm and the first thing I do is have anafter-school snack, like apple slices with peanut butter or graham crackers. Yum!I try to finish all my homework right after that, while it's still fresh in my mind. I'll spend about an hour or so working on assignments for math, reading comprehension, spelling words,or whatever else is due the next day. Once that's done, I can finally relax!My evenings are pretty free besides whatever activity I have that day. Mondays I have soccer practice until 6 pm. Tuesdays are reserved for my piano lessons. Wednesdays I go to Brownies with Jessica and some other friends. Thursdays I just hang out and play at home. And Fridays are movie nights with my family!In between those activities, you can usually find me playing outside, jumping on my trampoline, riding my bike around the neighborhood, or playing make-believe games. Sometimes I'll read books, draw pictures, or do crafts too.At 7 pm, I start getting ready for bed. I take a shower or bath, put on my pajamas, and brush my teeth again.
