电商会取代实体店吗英语作文In today's rapidly changing world, the rise of e-commerce has undoubtedly had a significant impact on the retail industry. With the convenience of online shopping, many people wonder if e-commerce will eventually replace physical stores. In this essay, we will explore thepotential for e-commerce to replace brick-and-mortar stores. There are several factors that contribute to the growing popularity of e-commerce. Firstly, the convenience ofonline shopping allows consumers to browse and purchase products from the comfort of their own homes. Thiseliminates the need to travel to physical stores, saving time and effort. Additionally, e-commerce offers a wide variety of products from different brands and retailers, giving consumers more options than they would find in a traditional store. Furthermore, the ability to compareprices and read customer reviews online can help consumers make more informed purchasing decisions. However, despite the advantages of e-commerce, there are still limitations that prevent it from completely replacing physical stores. One of the main drawbacks of onlineshopping is the inability to physically inspect and try out products before making a purchase. This is especially important for items such as clothing, shoes, and electronics, where the fit and feel are crucial to the consumer's satisfaction. Additionally, the lack of immediate gratification with online shopping, as compared to the instant satisfaction of purchasing and taking home a product from a physical store, is another factor that may continue to draw consumers to brick-and-mortar locations.Furthermore, physical stores offer a social and sensory experience that cannot be replicated by e-commerce. The ability to interact with knowledgeable sales associates, touch and feel products, and enjoy the atmosphere of a physical store can be an important part of the shopping experience for many consumers. Additionally, physical stores provide the opportunity for consumers to make impulse purchases, which is a significant source of revenue for retailers. In conclusion, while e-commerce has become an increasingly popular and convenient way to shop, it is unlikely to completely replace physical stores. Both e-commerce and brick-and-mortar stores have their own unique advantages and limitations, and it is likely that they will continue to coexist in the retail landscape. Ultimately, the choice between online and offline shopping will depend on the preferences and needs of individual consumers.在当今快速变化的世界中,电子商务的崛起无疑对零售业产生了重大影响。
Impact of E-Commerce on RetailMarket in ChinaHonghong Sun(cs02hs) IntroductionSince Internet firstly appeared in 1995, the development of this new industry in China has been considered as the fastest in the world. Statistics demonstrate that the number of Internet users are growing notably which from 26,500,000 (2001.6) to 123,000,000 (2006.7). Considering there are only 400 million people living in the city in China and 3% of the rural population having opportunity to use computer, this data means that nearly 30% of the urban population are Internet users. Furthermore, the statistics from the Chinese government shows that 22 million people had Internet shopping experience in last year. [1] Therefore, E-commerce in China has enormous space for development. So what does the rapid growth of e-commerce market mean for the retail market? Firstly, as a traditional industry in China, the retail industry keeps a huge market of about 950 billion U.S. dollars and increases at a high growth rate as 13%.[2] Moreover, one important issue is that more and more market share has been controlled by a few large enterprises. At the same time, a large number of transnational retail enterprises have invested in China’s retail market. All of the above means that ruthless business competition will occur in the near future. As the E-commerce develops rapidly in recent years, the traditional retail enterprises will face with an important problem: How to deal with the relationship to the E-commerce? The answer is cooperation and participation. A significant fact is that most of retail enterprises in China do not have substantive investment plan in Business to Customer E-commerce. As a result, China is one of minority country in the world that trading volume of Customer to Customer (C2C) E-commerce larger than the volume of Business to Customer (B2C) E-commerce. This situation shows that retail enterprises hold cautious attitude on entering E-commerce market. On the other hand, some of the web companies begin to engage in the B2C market, like and . Meanwhile, some of these online shopping websites seek cooperation with major international websites. For instance, is a famous book and gift online retailer in China and has been acquired by AMAZON in 2004. [3]So traditional retail enterprises will compete fiercely with web companies like if they want to enter the B2C market. In a word, the opportunities and the challenges have indeed existed in E-commerce for these companies.Opportunity to Retail Enterprises by E-commerce in ChinaAs the statistics shown, China is a huge retail market, most of the largest transnational retail enterprises have engaged in it and everyone wants to grab a big cake from this magnetic market. As this result, B2C E-commerce is considered to be a best way for them to expand their business.Expand Market SharesSince only few retail enterprises have substantive investment in E-commerce, the online retail business has not really begun to develop in China. Actually, it is nearly a virgin market in China, more and more people especially the high-educated people in China have full interest in online shopping. Moreover, most of these people prefer to purchase from the C2C websites. There are several reasons to explain why this happens. Firstly, the most popular products through online shopping are electrical equipments (59.1%), books (47.2%) and videos (27.6%) because the price of these products are cheaper on the C2C websites than on the B2C website. [4]Secondly, secondhand products trade and online game resources trade are quite popular in China. Thirdly, the items for customer to choose are more various on the C2C websites. In my opinion, the first and last reasons are of most importance. Simultaneously, these problems could be solved through these large traditional retailers engaging in the B2C market. With the help of Internet technology, these retailers could know more information about their customers such as special needs and price they could afford. After that, retail enterprises could provide their customers with personal services and recommend them individual items. At the same time, these enterprises could procure new items at a lower price than those small retailers on C2C websites. Another advantage of large retailers is that they could cut down the postage which cost the customers through cooperating with post companies.Obviously, customers will easily find that the B2C websites of traditional large retailers with above strategies is more attractive than the C2C websites. Firstly, they could trust these B2C websites because these websites are parts of these famous shopping malls and supermarkets. Considering there are still some illegal web companies in China, customers could securely select items from these large websites. Secondly, customers could have more choice on these websites because these retailers could have huge storage of various goods. Thirdly, customerscould get their goods more quickly and easily than through these traditional retailer’s websites. These enterprises usually have departments in different cities, so they could provide nearly free transportation services. The last and most important, these websites could provide high qualified items with low price because of their lower cost. The E-commerce also provides opportunities to traditional retailers to control the high-end market. As most of the online customers are young people and have got higher education in China, some of them will become the high income stratum in the future and some of them have already entered the high income stratum. It is really a huge potential purchasing power to retailers. An interest situation is that customer fidelity degree in online shopping behavior is higher than it in high street when the customers have got a successful shopping experience at the first time. All of these mean that traditional retail enterprises could provide top qualified services and items to the high income stratum through internet and these customers could easily become a loyal customer. In conclusion of above, traditional large retailers could expand a new market through the E-commerce, and the value of this market is difficult to be estimated. Reduce Costs EffectivelyThe traditional retailers in China usually complain about the low gain and the high cost. Since a great many transnational retail enterprises have engaged in China’s retail market, the competition between retailers has become even drastic. Nearly every retailer is considering how to reduce the cost. The E-commerce could give them another chance.Firstly, the B2B E-commerce could help retailers to reduce the cost of manufacturing. Through the Internet, they could find the suppliers from the world-wide by the information from B2B websites. They could cooperate with the B2B websites and consign them to find appropriate price on the Internet. As people known, China is a large manufacturing country in the world. A large number of these manufacture enterprises sale promotion on B2B websites. One of the famous B2B websites in China is which has over 15 million registered companies. According to these B2B websites, more and more large retail enterprises start to find business cooperation partners online.[5] Secondly, as the retail enterprises simultaneously sell items online, the previous size of entitative shops is redundant. The rental is one of the main costs for retail enterprises. A large number of items could be sold online rather than on the shopping malls such as furniture, machines and appliances. Items like these have a large size, thus they will waste a larger space if retailers put them on the shopping mall. Consequently, theretailers should encourage customers buy these items online in order to save the rental cost. They need to provide several strategies to attract customers like free transportation and more discounts. After that, customers may prefer to buy these items online with pleasure.Thirdly, the storage and transportation is also a large cost for the retail enterprises. Unlike traditional enterprises, they also usually need a large number of depots to keep goods. However, the E-commerce facilitates the development of logistics industry. According to communication with different suppliers on internet, the retailers could demand items after they receive the order form from their customers. So these retailers just need to keep least storage to satisfy their short-term requirements. Attribute to these strategies, items could be sold in most efficient way. On transportation aspect, streamlined storage needs efficient professional transport. As this situation, retail enterprises should have more positivity to cooperate with third-party logistics (3PL). Enterprises need to separate transportation out of their departments and consign 3PL to participate this work. Otherwise, through selecting suppliers and negotiating with them by the B2B websites, retail enterprises could economize a great many costs of management. They do not need to send any more employees to different parts of the country to find suitable suppliers.Challenge to E-commerce Retail Market in ChinaAlthough E-commerce retail market has unprecedented development in China, there are still some noticeable obstructions on customer range, credit system and security mechanism. These obstructions may limit the development of this new market unless we take some effective measure.Credit SystemThe modern credit system has developed slowly in China and there are several factors contributing to this problem. Firstly, as China is country of long history, people who live in this country are used to use cash to shop for a long time and only a few people in China (less than 5%) have credit cards.[6] As a result, most of Chinese prefer Face-to-Face transactions rather than distance transactions. Secondly, the Chinese government just opened several of banking services in recent years and most of these services are incomplete. Consequently, the payment methods become a problem for most B2C websites in China. Some of the customers may give up shop online if they feel troublesomely about the payment. In order to resolve this problem, retailers should encourage customers to use kinds of payments and cooperate with banks to provide different choicesto customers.Population Range LimitationStatistics demonstrate that there are two major reasons that people do not use Internet in China:Do not have enough knowledge to use computers and browse websites (36.6%);Do not have necessary hardware conditions to use Internet (31.8%).[7]It shows that a large number people in China may not use Internet to shop because they afraid of the complex process of online shopping. Thus it requires B2C websites to consider how to design the websites with an interface which is easier to use. Moreover, comparing to other customers, these fresh Internet users may have higher fidelity for the shopping website which they could feel comfortable from it at the first time. Security MechanismAt present, laws and regulations of online transactions are still incomplete in China. Firstly, there is no law about the security of E-payment. If any tortuous action happens, it may be difficult for customers to lodge an appeal. Secondly, there is no regulation to protect customer’s privacy right. As a result, customers may have the risk of betraying privacy when they provide their personal information to retail websites. For resolving this problem, Chinese government is responsible to stipulate related laws and regulations as early as possible.ConclusionSince China has engage into the World Trade Organization(WTO) in 2001, more and more transnational retail enterprises have invested in China’s retail market. It means that ruthless business competition will occur in China retail market in the near future. So how retail enterprises could deal with this challenge? What does the rapid growth of e-commerce market mean for the retail market? All of the retail enterprises have to engage this competition and the expense of failure could only be eliminated. In conclusion, the E-commerce can help traditional retail enterprises to compete with others in five major different ways: firstly, set B2C websites to expend their market shares; secondly, provide opportunities to traditional retailers to control the high-end market; thirdly, reduce the cost of manufacturing; fourthly, decrease the cost of rental; fifthly, cut down the storage and transportation costs. According to these methods, retail enterprises could get a suitable development situation. However, retail enterprises also should take careof 3 important challenges: rebuild credit system, give more opportunity to different people and complete the security mechanism.
