2829Master Storyline 项目故事主线In the height of the Age of Exploration, King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Spain commissioned a fleet of ships to set sail along the fabled Spice Trail. They were looking for riches, savory spices and the mysterious Fountain of Youth. The large crew set off in three ships, with the intention of sailing as far East as they were able.Deep into the journey, the crew experienced a terrible windstorm. Knowing that he needed to get his crew to safety, the captain scanned the horizon for land. He spotted a faint light in the distance and directed his crew to sail toward the light. Soon the ships entered an inlet, surrounded by lush landscape.Anchoring the ships, the sailors immediately recognized that the waters in this area were rich in shrimp and fish. Excited about what other bounty the land could hold, the captain ordered crews of his men to take smaller boats and embark down the natural canal that carved through the landscape.Floating down the meandering canal, the crew that headed west encountered an area of densely planted fruit and nut trees. The trees were bursting with fragrant flowers and the crew knew that these trees could be used to cultivate the savory spices that they had been searching for. The crew eventually arrived at the canal basin, a fresh, clear watered lake. The men swam, captivated by the cool, clarity of the water. The sailors agreed that the basin was the perfect setting for the upcoming feast day celebration.The crew that headed east encountered a completely unique experience. The canal took them through a landscape punctuated by freshwater springs. The sound of the flowing water masked all other noise, immers-ing the sailors in the tropical environment. The crew felt that considering the beauty and abundance of the natural springs, they may have stumbled across the elusive Fountain of Youth. However, their journey con-tinued through the lush tropical landscape lining the canal, directing the sailors eastward to a stretch of open field that was covered by wild flowers in rich yellow and shinny white, the sandy land was sparkling under the orange sunset. The sailors believed they had found the best land of gold and silver that mother nature could ever offer.Upon hearing his crew’s discoveries, the captain was impressed with the beauty and natural resources of the land. He decided the land should be a permanent stop along the Spice Trail and set his crew to erecting a trading post. The fort-like structure was located just south of the beach where the sailors had landed. The site was ideal, boasting ship access to both the inlet and the ocean. The captain and crew also constructed a lighthouse, identifying the land to fellow sailors.Remnants from the Spanish visitors can still be seen on the site today.
