Jane EyreKey words: realistic, pursue, dignity, equal status, abuse, discrimination, resistanceI. A general introduction"Jane Eyre" was a romantic realistic novel, the heroine was a orphan who was born in a poor priest's family. Both her parents came down with typhoid and died in a month, little Jane was sent to her uncle's family. After her uncle Reed died in the "Red House",she suffered from 10 year"s abuse and discrimination. At a time, she was shut in the "Red House" because she resisted her cousin's beat, she was so scare to ill.Since then, her ant hated her specially and did not let her cousins played with her. Before long,Jane was sent to Los Wood Orphanage, the rules in the orphanage was strict ,the life there was difficult, and the director was a grim hypocrite, she was still suffered from spiritual and physical pain. When she grew up and graduated from the "charity schools ",she become a tutor in Rochester's manor.Because of her self-respect,self-love,self-confident and her intelligent ,she gained respect from people there. Then she fell in love with Rochester based on understanding each other gradually on equal status. But in the morning of their wedding,Jane found that Rochester had a wife, that was the madwoman hiding in upstairs.Jane decided to leave Rochester in order to persist in her personal dignity. She found a job to teach in a rural school after bitter stray. Later on, Jane knew that the madwoman set fire to Rochester's house, Rochester not only can not safe the madwoman, but also became blind.Jane went back to Rochester desperately and married with him finally.II. Movie ReviewIn my view, Jane was a kind-hearted and thoughtful woman, she lived in the bottom of society, came through all kinds of hardship.I felt pity for her,but I admired most her strong-minded and her spirit of pursuing equal and happiness. When living in Mrs Reed's home,10 years' old Jane had shown strong resistance to her ant's and cousins' discrimination and abuse. She was brave to fight back while her cousin beat her;She cried "You are not deserve to be with me !" while her ant asked her cousins to keep away from her;She shouted"It is unfair!" while she was shut in the "Red House".When living in the orphanage, being in contrast with the tolerance and submission of Jane's friend,Helen Burns,Jane's resistance was more distinctive. Helen Burns embraced "Love your enemy ." although she was persecuted. She had no hatred but had to roll with the punches under the paralysis of religion. But Jane hated the director and teacher who destroyed them, she said to Helen ,"If they use stick to hit me,I would take it from their hand and break it before them." That fully showed her strong character of unwilling to be humiliated. The novel is mainly about the love between Jane and Rochester.Jane thought that love should be based on spirit equality, and should not depend on social class, wealth and appearance, only can we love each other indeed to gain true happy. She did not give up her seeking of happiness as she was a servant, her love was pure and noble, she cared less about Rochester's wealth. She love Rochester because he treated everyone equally,he treated her as his friend and he was honest to her. Rochester had accustomed to seeing the cruel andhypocrisy of upper class, Jane's pure-hearted,kind and independency invoked his seeking and dreaming of life. The end of the novel was, although Rochester's manor was destroyed, and he became a blind, but Jane married with him. Meanwhile,Jane got dignity. The story tells us, the best life of people must has dignity and love. In the modern society, people buried their love because of money and position, but few of them would give up all things because of love and personality. What the story shows us is a kind of simple and true love.。
