第一部分必修二Unit 2Ⅰ.阅读理解导学号01830280(2015·海淀区第二学期期中) Sports are the base of my life, next to my mother who raised me when my dad left us. I have been into sports since I was six years old. I have known many coaches and heard hundreds of their tips, but they usually focused on drills to develop my skills and reach the next level of play. When I was in Senior Two, I met the new school basketball coach, Brian Pawloski. I thought I was certain to be selected for the school team since I had been in it the year before. I showed up to the tryouts and put out about 90% effort since I thought I'd make it with no problem. That was a big mistake.Brian Pawloski is the hardest-working coach I have ever met. He didn't expect 100% effort; he expected 200% effort. One example: he once made us do 40 suicide drills for the 40 lay-ups (投篮) we missed in a game. Some think this is crazy, but it isn't. After this conditioning practice, as we were getting a cup of cold water to drink, I said, “coach, that was the best practice I ever had.” I was completely sincere. This man was and is the person who influenced me most at my high school. He expects us to be excellent not just on the court but in the classroom. If I am not working on basketball, I am reading a book that he thinks will help us better understand life's challenges, including Wooden, Coach, and The Screwtape Letters. In the first two years I slacked_off,_not putting forth my full potential. Now, unlike the coaches of my youth, this man was interested in how he did off the court. He always made sure I kept up with my studies and was able to be trusted. I can honestly say that no other coach has given me so much advice on how to succeed in basketball, but more importantly, in life. My school is lucky to have such a great person to teach, coach and influence their students. I will always remember my high-school basketball days as one of the hardest times I have ever worked in my life not only in basketball but in my growth as an individual.文章大意:这是一篇英语传记故事阅读。

中国历史上对我影响最大的人英语作文全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1The Person Who Influenced Me the Most in Chinese HistoryAs a student of Chinese history, I have been profoundly inspired by the life and legacy of one particular individual whose impact on China's past reverberates through the ages and continues to shape our understanding of the present. This person is none other than the renowned philosopher and teacher, Confucius.Born in the small state of Lu (present-day Shandong Province) around 551 BCE, Confucius lived during the turbulent Spring and Autumn Period, a time of great political upheaval and social unrest in ancient China. Amidst the chaos, Confucius sought to restore order and stability through the propagation of his ethical and moral teachings, which would come to be known as Confucianism. From a young age, I was captivated by the wisdom and insight contained within the Analects, the collection of Confucius's sayings and philosophical thoughts. His emphasis oncultivating virtues such as filial piety, righteousness, propriety, and loyalty resonated deeply with me, as these values are deeply ingrained in Chinese culture and continue to shape societal norms and expectations. One of the most profound lessons I learned from Confucius is the importance of self-cultivation and lifelong learning. He believed that true nobility was not bestowed by birth or wealth but rather achieved through a constant pursuit of knowledge and moral self-improvement. This notion has inspired me to approach my studies with humility and a thirst for understanding, recognizing that learning is a never-ending journey.Confucius's teachings also placed a strong emphasis on the concept of "ren," which can be loosely translated as benevolence, humanity, or compassion. He believed that by cultivating ren, individuals could foster harmonious relationships and contribute to the well-being of society as a whole. This idea has profoundly shaped my worldview, encouraging me to approach others with empathy, kindness, and a genuine concern for their welfare.Furthermore, Confucius's philosophical teachings have had a lasting impact on the Chinese political and social landscape. His emphasis on meritocracy and the idea that capable individuals should be appointed to positions of leadership based on theirvirtue and ability, rather than birth or connections, laid the foundation for China's civil service examination system, which endured for over a millennium. This system not only fostered social mobility but also contributed to the development of a highly educated and skilled bureaucracy, which played a crucial role in the administration and governance of the vast Chinese empire.Beyond the realm of politics and governance, Confucius's influence can be seen in the enduring cultural traditions and practices of China. His teachings on filial piety and respect for elders have deeply shaped the dynamics of Chinese families, promoting strong intergenerational bonds and a sense of reverence for one's ancestors. Additionally, his emphasis on propriety and ritual has influenced everything from traditional Chinese art forms to the etiquette and customs that govern social interactions. As I delve deeper into the study of Chinese history, I am continually struck by the profound and far-reaching impact of Confucius's teachings. His philosophy has withstood the test of time, transcending eras and epochs, and continues to resonate with individuals across diverse backgrounds and cultures. In my personal journey, Confucius's teachings have served as a moral compass, guiding me towards a path ofself-improvement, compassion, and a deep respect for knowledge and learning. His emphasis on cultivating virtues and fostering harmonious relationships has helped me navigate the complexities of modern life, reminding me of the importance of maintaining a balanced and ethical approach to my interactions with others. Moreover, Confucius's legacy has inspired me to appreciate the richness and depth of Chinese culture, and to recognize the profound ways in which philosophical and ethical teachings can shape the course of a civilization. His influence is woven into the fabric of Chinese society, manifesting in the customs, traditions, and values that have endured for millennia. As I look towards the future, I am grateful for the profound impact that Confucius has had on my life and my understanding of Chinese history. His teachings serve as a reminder of the enduring power of wisdom, virtue, and moral conviction, and inspire me to continually strive for personal growth and to contribute positively to the world around me.In a rapidly changing and often uncertain world, the timeless lessons imparted by Confucius remain as relevant as ever, offering guidance and solace to those seeking to live a life of meaning and purpose. Through his enduring legacy, Confucius continues to shape the minds and hearts of generations, reminding us of the profound impact that a single individual can have on the course of human civilization.篇2The Most Influential Person in Chinese History for MeWhen asked to choose the most influential person in Chinese history, my mind immediately goes to the philosophical giants and pioneering thinkers who have shaped the culture and values that continue to resonate across China today. However, the individual who has had the most profound impact on my life is someone closer to home – my maternal grandmother. My grandmother, Zhang Mei, was born in a small village in Sichuan Province in 1928. She witnessed the turmoil and upheaval of the Second Sino-Japanese War, the Chinese Civil War, and the establishment of the People's Republic of China under Mao Zedong's leadership. Despite facing incredible hardships, including famine, poverty, and political persecution, she remained steadfastly committed to her principles of kindness, diligence, and resilience. As a young girl, I was captivated by my grandmother's stories of her youth. She would regale me with tales of tending to the family's vegetable garden, helping her mother prepare meals over an open fire, and walking for miles to fetch water from the nearest well. Her vivid descriptions transported me to a simpler time, where the rhythms of life were dictated by the changing seasons and the cycle of planting and harvesting. What struck me most about my grandmother's recollections was her unwavering positivity in the face of adversity. She spoke of the painful years of the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution with a sense of sadness but never bitterness. Instead, she emphasized the importance of perseverance, gratitude, and finding joy in the smallest of things – a blooming flower, a child's laughter, or a shared meal with loved ones.As I grew older, I came to appreciate the profound wisdom embedded in my grandmother's life lessons. She taught me the value of hard work and self-discipline, instilling in me a strong work ethic that has served me well in my academic pursuits. Her emphasis on education as a path to personal growth andself-betterment inspired me to embrace learning with enthusiasm and curiosity. Moreover, my grandmother's example of compassion and empathy left an indelible mark on my character. She embodied the Confucian virtues of ren (benevolence) and yi (righteousness), treating others with kindness and respect, regardless of their station in life. Her willingness to lend a helping hand to those in need, whether it was caring for a sick neighbor or offering a warm meal to a weary traveler, exemplified the spirit of humanity that transcends cultural boundaries. One of the most poignant lessons I learned from my grandmother was the importance of resilience in the face of life's challenges. She endured immense hardships, from the loss of her eldest son during the Great Famine to the untimely death of her husband, yet she never allowed herself to be consumed by despair. Instead, she embodied the concept of bu juan, the ability to adapt and persevere in the face of adversity, drawing strength from her unwavering faith and her love for her family. As I reflect on my grandmother's life and her profound influence on me, I am struck by the way she seamlessly blended the ancient wisdom of Chinese philosophy with a modern sensibility. She embraced the Confucian ideals of filial piety, propriety, and moral cultivation, while simultaneouslyrecognizing the importance of education, social progress, and individual agency. My grandmother's legacy extends far beyond the boundaries of our family. Through her actions and her teachings, she embodied the enduring spirit of the Chinese people – a spirit characterized by resilience, diligence, and a deep reverence for tradition, tempered by an openness to change and a hunger for knowledge. In a world that often seems fractured and disconnected, my grandmother's life serves as a powerful reminder of the universal human values that transcend borders and cultures. Her unwavering commitment to kindness, compassion, and perseverance continues to inspire me and guide my path forward. As I embark on the next chapter of my life, I carry with me the indelible lessons imparted by my grandmother. Her influence extends far beyond the realm of personal experience, shaping my understanding of China's rich cultural heritage and the enduring principles that have sustained its people through centuries of triumphs and tribulations. In a world that increasingly values individualism and material success, my grandmother's example reminds me of the profoundsignificance of family, community, and the enduring bonds that connect us to our roots. Her life serves as a testament to the power of human resilience, the beauty of simplicity, and the enduring wisdom that can be found in the most unexpected places – even in the humble stories of a village grandmother. As I strive to navigate the complexities of the modern world, I draw strength and inspiration from my grandmother's unwavering spirit篇3The Person Who Influenced Me Most in Chinese HistoryAs a student deeply fascinated by the rich tapestry of Chinese history, I have encountered numerous iconic figures who have left an indelible mark on the annals of time. However, one individual stands out as the most profound influence, a luminous beacon whose impact transcends mere historical significance and resonates within the depths of my being. This extraordinary person is none other than the revered philosopher and teacher, Confucius.Born in the ancient state of Lu during the turbulent Spring and Autumn period, Confucius emerged as a towering intellect whose teachings have withstood the test of time, shaping thevery fabric of Chinese society and leaving an enduring legacy that continues to inspire generations. His profound wisdom and unwavering commitment to moral cultivation have resonated with me on a profoundly personal level, guiding my personal growth and shaping my worldview. From a young age, I was captivated by the timeless principles espoused by Confucius, particularly his emphasis on the cultivation of virtue, propriety, and the harmonious coexistence of individuals within society. The Analects, a compilation of his sayings and dialogues with disciples, became a veritable treasure trove of wisdom, unveiling the depths of his philosophical thought and ethical code. One of the core tenets that resonated deeply with me was the concept of "ren," often translated as benevolence or humaneness. Confucius believed that true nobility resided not in one's social status or material possessions but rather in the cultivation of moral character and the genuine concern for the well-being of others. This notion challenged the prevailing societal norms of his era and struck a chord within me, inspiring me to embark on a journey of self-reflection and personal growth.Furthermore, Confucius' emphasis on filial piety and the harmonious relationships within the family unit profoundly shaped my understanding of familial bonds and the importance of honoring one's elders. The hierarchical structure he advocated, while seemingly rigid, was underpinned by a deep respect for the wisdom and experience of those who came before us, a value that I have come to cherish and uphold.Confucius' teachings also extended to the realm of governance and leadership, advocating for a meritocratic system where virtuous individuals, regardless of their social standing, could assume positions of authority and guide society towards a path of righteousness. This concept of a government founded on moral principles and the virtues of its leaders resonated deeply with me, sparking a desire to contribute positively to the betterment of society. As I delved deeper into the study of Confucianism, I was struck by the enduring relevance of its teachings in our modern era. Concepts such as the Golden Mean, which advocates for moderation and balance in all aspects of life, and the emphasis on lifelong learning and self-cultivation, have proven to be timeless wisdom applicable to the challenges we face today.Confucius' influence extended far beyond the confines of ancient China, permeating the philosophical and cultural traditions of neighboring nations and leaving an indelible mark on the intellectual discourse of the entire East Asian region. His teachings formed the bedrock of the esteemed civil service examination system, which sought to promote meritocracy and cultivate a class of educated officials dedicated to the service of the people. Moreover, the influence of Confucianism can be discerned in the artistic and literary traditions of China, where the pursuit of harmony, balance, and moral cultivation found expression in the calligraphic strokes, poetic verse, and the delicate brushwork of traditional paintings. The very notion of cultivating oneself through the appreciation and creation of art resonated deeply with Confucian ideals, further cementing his enduring impact on the cultural fabric of the nation. In my own life, Confucius' teachings have served as a guiding light, illuminating the path towards self-discovery, ethical conduct, and a deep reverence for knowledge and wisdom. His emphasis on personal cultivation and the harmonious coexistence within society has profoundly shaped my interactions with others, fostering a spirit of empathy, respect, and a genuine desire to contribute positively to the world around me.As I navigate the complexities of our modern world, grappling with the challenges of an ever-evolving society, I find solace and inspiration in the timeless wisdom of Confucius. Eventually through his perseverance, he was able to start his own small business repairing bicycles and motorcycles. He worked extremely long hours, 7 days a week, to grow his modest repair shop into a successful motorcycle sales and service center. Even after achieving financial success later in life, he has remained humble, frugal and continues to live a simple lifestyle. Seeing how he built his business from nothing through grit, sacrifice and unwavering dedication has been truly inspirational. It taught me the value of hard work, persistence and having a strong work ethic.More importantly though, the wisdom, morals and life advice my grandfather has imparted to me is what has influenced me the most profoundly. Despite only having a basic elementary level education himself, he is an extremely wise man who lives by strong ethical principles. Some of the most impactful lessons he has taught me include:Treat others with kindness, respect and compassion, regardless of their status or background. He believes we should judge people by their character, not their money, job or appearance. By being good to others, you make the world a little bit better.Live with honesty and integrity at all times, even when it's difficult. He has always stressed the importance of having moral courage to do the right thing, instead of taking the easy way out. Your name and reputation are invaluable - guard them with your life.Appreciate what you have and don't be consumed by greed or materialism. He came from poverty but is the most content person I know. He gets joy from simple pleasures - good health, family, working hard and has no desire for luxury items or to flaunt his wealth.Remain humble and never think you are better than others. No matter how much success you achieve, don't look down on those less fortunate. Treat everyone equally and with respect.Family comes before everything else. My grandfather has always made his family the number one priority in his life. Through good times and bad, we have stuck together through it all.I have learned so many other lessons from the way my grandfather carries himself with such wisdom, grace and positivity despite the challenges he has endured over the years. He is living proof that you can overcome adversity and achieve great things through hard work, perseverance and strong values.More importantly, he has instilled in me a strong ethical foundation to navigate through life as a good person who treats others well.My grandfather's influence has shaped my character, mindset and values in the most profound way. As I go through life, I will carry the invaluable lessons he has taught me to hopefully have the same positive impact on others. He is my role model and the person I admire and respect most in this world. I can only hope to become half the person he is.篇5The Person Who Has Influenced Me the MostEverybody has that one person in their life who has really shaped who they are. For me, that person is my grandpa. He's been the biggest influence on me for as long as I can remember. My grandpa is just the greatest guy. He's really funny and makes everybody laugh with his silly jokes and stories from back in the day. Like how he used to ride his bike 5 miles to school, uphill both ways! Even though I've heard that one a million times, it still cracks me up. He has a great sense of humor and always keeps things light and fun.But he's not just a jokester. My grandpa is also one of the wisest people I know. He grew up during The Great Depression and had to work really hard his whole life. He didn't get a lot of chances or have things handed to him. Because of that, he learned the importance of hard work, determination, and never giving up. He's passed those values down to me.Whenever I'm struggling with something difficult, whether it's a tough math concept or dealing with a bully at school, my grandpa is the one who talks me through it. He relates it back to his own experiences and the obstacles he overcame through perseverance. His pep talks have given me the motivation to push through so many challenges. My grandpa also stresses the significance of education and doing well in school. He only got to go through 8th grade himself, since he had to start working full-time at a young age to support his family. He's lived through a lot of hard times and understands that getting a good education is the key to opening up more opportunities in life. His lack of formal schooling is one of his biggest regrets.Because of his advice and the high importance he puts on academics, I've always tried my hardest and taken school seriously. I know that by getting good grades, it will allow me tocreate a better life for myself like he wishes he could have had. Without his constant words of wisdom, I'm not sure I'd be as driven or focused on succeeding in the classroom. There are so many other small ways my grandpa has rubbed off on me too. Like being a humble, down-to-earth person who doesn't get caught up in material things or trying to impress others. Having good manners, being kind and respectful to everyone. Enjoying the simple things in life rather than wanting more and more stuff. He grew up with so little but is the most content, grateful person I know.My grandpa has instilled so many positive values and life lessons in me. Not by lecturing me, but by living as an example of how to lead a good life. From his words and stories, I've learned what's really important - working hard, being a caring person, not taking anything for granted. He's shaped me into the person I am today.I feel so fortunate to have such an amazing role model and mentor. Not everyone is lucky enough to have an influential figure like my grandpa in their life. If I can grow up to be even half the incredible man he is, I'll consider myself to have led a very successful life. He will always be the most significant person who has impacted me.篇6The Person Who Has Impacted Me the MostEveryone has someone in their life who has deeply influenced and shaped who they are as a person. For me, that person is my grandpa. He has had such a huge impact on my life and the person I have become. I'm going to tell you all about him and why he means so much to me.First off, my grandpa is just the coolest, funniest guy you'll ever meet. He always has some goofy joke or silly story to share that never fails to make me laugh until my stomach hurts. But he's not just a jokester - he's also wise beyond his years. He has lived through so much and has incredible life experience. He served in the military, raised six kids, and started his own successful business from nothing. His brain is just a vault of knowledge and meaningful advice.Speaking of advice, some of grandpa's most impactful wisdom has really stuck with me over the years. He is always preaching things like "Work smarter, not harder," "If you don't go after what you want, you'll never get it," and "Attitude is everything." While I admit I didn't fully appreciate his little nuggets of wisdom when I was younger, as I've grown up I'verealized how profound and true so much of his advice is. His mentorship has helped shape my mindset, work ethic, and overall outlook on life in such a positive way.Another big way grandpa has influenced me is through his endless generosity and warmth. Our whole family gathers at his house every Sunday for a huge dinner, and he always insists on cooking these gigantic feasts for 20-30 people all on his own. He says things like "I just want to see everyone with a full belly and a smile on their face" with the most genuine joy. He is constantly giving - whether it's his time, money, or just a listening ear when you need to vent. Seeing how caring and selfless he is with everyone has really motivated me to be a more generous person myself. His generosity also extends to the community through all the volunteer work he does. Grandpa is always finding ways to give back, whether it's serving food at the local soup kitchen, spending time with kids at the YMCA, or volunteering for neighborhood cleanups. His commitment to helping others and making the world a little bit better place is incredibly inspiring. Whenever I start to get lazy or selfish, I think of my grandpa's example and it kicks me into gear to be a better person.I could go on and on about all the ways my grandpa's wisdom, humor, generosity, and overall amazing character has rubbed off on me over the years. From the silly dance moves he taught me as a kid to the way he instilled the importance of education and hard work in me, his influence is woven into the fabric of who I am today. I am so incredibly grateful to have such an awesome role model and person to look up to in my life. Grandpa has set the bar high, but I can only hope that one day I'll be even half the person he is. He is truly one-of-a-kind and I feel so lucky to have him as my grandpa, mentor, and friend.。
