我眼中的美国

规则第一，文明至上，热情友好，条件优越——我眼中的美国第一印象在我们抵达圣玛丽大学的过程中，也出现了一些小插曲。

例如，在旧金山入关的时候人特别多，而且我们入关后还需要转机直飞圣安东尼奥，但留给我们登机的时间却只有一个半小时。

结果入关时需要排非常长的队，而且前面通关速度并不快，我们也不允许插队，尽管我们拖着行李飞奔，最终还是延误了通关后的飞机，致使我们不得不转机丹佛，再从丹佛转机圣安东尼奥，旅途中多耗费了五六个小时，当地时间晚上九点终于到达目的地。

入关虽然耗费了太多时间，抱怨和着急之余，我更佩服的，是美国人“规则至上”的意识。

如果在中国，我们向海关人员说明特殊情况，或者有所谓的人情关系，很容易就给开放绿色通道，不必再排长队。

而在这里，无论两位领队老师怎样向他们说明情况，他们都让我们不要着急，one by one，给我们的答案是要么排队入关，要么返回中国。

在规矩面前，人人平等，规则至上，让我们感到了中美工作人员在处理事情方面的诸多不同，给我留下了深刻印象，也给我们上了来到美国的“做事”第一课。

与海关工作人员形成鲜明对比的是，圣玛丽大学的部门主管和他的团队给我们的热情相迎和细心接待。

在圣安东尼奥，因为这里常年比较温暖或者炎热，当地人基本喝冰水，没有温水更没有热水。

对方国际交流中心的RANA老师知道我们不习惯喝凉水后特意跑了很远，费了很大周折，买了大杯的热水分给我们，毕竟那个时候已经是当地时间深夜十一点，这让我们在异国他乡感受到了浓浓的暖意。

我们住的宿舍是四人间，就在学校里面，二层小楼，静谧温馨。

中央空调，独立卫浴，公共洗衣房、微波炉等都是免费使用，二十四小时开放，卫生纸、毛巾、浴巾等日用品给我们摆放得整整齐齐。

和国内宿舍相比，我们对圣玛丽大学优良舒适的学生住宿条件感慨了一番。

我们每个人的床上还放着他们提前给我们准备好的小礼物，让我们觉得特别暖心。

学校餐厅是自助餐厅，非周末都是从早晨7点到晚上9点半全天候开放，学生们可以在开放的时间内任何时间随便去用餐，我们不得不为此点赞。

关键词：独立、礼貌、自由、善用惩罚以上这些词汇基本在很多的中国媒体杂志能看得到，但是不是亲眼所见我们始终在以讹传讹，在传说中我特别想问问，你或你是否真的亲眼所见，我只相信我所见到的。

我想告诉大家的，第一我并不觉得他们就是好我们应该学习，我们就是不好应该摒弃，我在阐述的只是一种他们的生活方式。

第二我看到的是我家的教育方式，并不代表全美国，但是我个人认为起码代表了绝大多数的美国家庭。

第一次见到他家的孩子他们完全没有中国孩子怕生粘人的习惯，他们对于第一次见面的人都能够很有好的问好以及主动和你亲近，我所说的不光是我们家的孩子我还问过或者接触过其他孩子，有怕生的只是很少一部分，我想这个和他们管家孩子的方式有很大的关系。

礼貌大家一直以为美国是个很开放的国家，比较随便，喜欢亲，喜欢搂抱，但其实这绝对是一种曲解，美国人不但不这样他们甚至不喜欢身体接触，如果排队或者走路不小心碰到你，一定会和你say sorry他们的身体接触只限很亲密的关系。

这个习惯是从很小就养成的。

一次我在MALL里面买糖，结果我没有看到后面的队伍，直接排到了第一个人后面，后面和前面人都很惊讶的看着我，我才发现我排错队了。

他们队伍再乱都不会出现有随便插队或者一窝蜂往前挤的现象，在SIX FLAGS里面类似于迪斯尼一样的游乐场我们做过山车，有太多的人，没有围栏的时候，都没有出现往前挤。

不论你为他开门或者别人帮你做了什么一定会不停说sorry ,thank you.独立独立在这里不但是思想独立更加是行为独立。

行为独立：美国人不像中国人喜欢抱团，中国人是你去吗，你去我就去，外国人只是说我可以去吗？然后他自己就去。

美国人是以个体出现，中国人总喜欢以群体出现，觉得自己去干什么就是不合群。

美国新闻界强烈的⼀致意识：美国是世界上的，凡是美国做的事都是对的，和美国不⼀样的想法就是错的，不照美国规矩⾏事的国家都是邪恶的。

这⼀点从美国各⼤媒体的报导中不难看出来。

在国内的时候，时常到各⼤站的论坛逛逛，发现不少⼈有很深的“美国情结”。

但我到了美国⼯作之后，再去浏览国内论坛对美国的种种说法，发现其中更有许多⾃以为是的误导。

误导之⼀：美国的繁荣。

美国是当今世界的超级⼤国，它的繁荣当然是不⾔⽽喻的。

但经过⼀些⼈的加⼯想象，美国已经成了每个⾓落都闪著⾦光的风⽔宝地。

实际上，美国虽然拥有数量庞⼤的中产阶级，整体⽣活⽔平较⾼，但贫困问题⼀直是⼀⼤困扰。

在美国的各⼤城市，都有规模不⼩的穷⼈区。

⾸都华盛顿的闹市区，街道两旁三步⼀岗、五步⼀哨的，是那些拿著纸杯⼦要钱的穷⼈。

美国⼈的概念是，你穷是因为你懒，没有必要同情。

政府给他们发⾷品券，提供低价住房。

但是并不等于他们不被忽视。

穷⼈区的房⼦年久失修，学校是最差的，秩序混乱，抢劫、枪杀，层出不穷，新闻媒体不报导，警察也懒得管。

说说我眼中的美国、香港、新加坡和大陆教职比较一直都很懒，在版上做过客做了很久，学了不少东西，获得很多朋友的启示，现在工作渐渐尘埃落定，心无旁骛，觉得也该做点贡献了。

本人现在美国，在香港、新加坡都生活和科研过，大陆是我的大学母校所在地，所以闲聊一下这几个地方faculty 的情况吧。

纯属个人意见，虽然是亲身体验，但仅供参考。

1.美国faculty ：Phd 们的首选。

虽然说什么经济危机或是语言障碍，我的一堆香港、新加坡或是大陆的朋友，有来过美国交流甚至只来过开会一次的，都觉得美国是最适合做research和enjoy life，很是羡慕美国的phd们，现在有好几个朋友在努力申请美国的posdoc,觉得po过以后，留下来做个research fellow 也愿意。

首先，美国faulty 自由，即使是AP，无论是上课或者科研等个方面的弹性大。

而且，受的管制相对少，相比亚洲人多的地方，那种一级压一级的感觉少很多，心情比较舒畅，至少我是个自主经营的独立体。

说到money，有些专业在美国做faculty工资还真是不高，不过只要不去NY 、CA ，在二三流城市，美国的living cost 不高，而且pay 是九个月的，你找到好的靠山或者有能力拉funding，可以自己pay自己，我看了很多professor,tenure 以后都有自己的公司，用来减税逃税（呵呵，让另一半学习一下）。

日子大资得很,各种家具和器具精美得很,关键是生活得没负担，不用像其他地方，一山望着一山高，比来比去。

有节奏地自在生活，做科研，心宽体胖。

当然，如果是商学院faculty ，那就更爽了，工资高还不用为funding 发愁。

接着，说说美国faculty 的家庭生活吧，我见过的都比较和谐，无论是两人同发考题或者一人发考题。

一般学校都会帮忙faculty 家属找工作，我知道的一对夫妇，老公做faculty ，老婆做小秘，一起上班，老公早下班去接4 点钟小孩下课，老婆回家做饭，生活得很甜蜜。

美国特征
很多人都认为文化太过多元的美国没有一个特征,不像绅士之于英国;严谨之于美国;谦逊之于日本……美国社会像是一道包含太多了太多原材料和调味品的菜肴，控制不好便会尽失味道。

但是我认为，这种保罗万象的文化碰撞的社会，是一种散发着独特魅力的、美国味道十足的社会。

但由于是语言类教学片，不可能太深入地剖析美国的社会环境。

想要深入地理解美国，不可能仅仅依靠一些教学片、纪录片，也不可能只听美国人自己的讲述。

近读林达的《历史深处的忧虑》，感想颇多，林达夫妇以华裔美国人的身份，对美国社会环境、文化环境等进行了一系列的解释，可以说较真实地表现了美国作为头号资本主义强国其政治历程与社会背景。

美国，是一个年轻的移民国家，人种多，政治开放程度高，这点由非洲裔美国人奥巴马成功当上总统可看出。

他们了解美国、看到的美国完全在意料之外，法治所保障的，是个人不受到他人或政府的侵犯，而百姓则尽可能享受个人自由，这也是美国公民最看重并关注的。
