1 教学目标

(1)Learning objectives:

①Master the reading strategy—scanning.

②Read and understand the article. Master the main idea of

the article.

(2)Ability aims: To improve the students’ reading ability.

(3)Emotion aims: Teach the students to love animals and

protect the environment.

2 学情分析

Although the students are in Grade Eight, they don’t have

a big vocabulary. They can’t use the reading strategy to finish

the reading task. I need to improve their reading ability and

help them finish the reading tasks.

3 重难点

Key points:①Master the reading strategy—scanning。

②Read and understand the article, then finish the reading tasks.

③Students can say something according to the

article.

Difficult points:①Learn how to use scanning strategy to

find Specific information and understand the passage②Improve

the students’reading ability.

4 教学过程

活动1 导入Unit7 section B (2a-2e)

Step 1 Greetings

Step 2 Lead-in

Ask students to watch a video about pandas and talk about

the pandas.

T: Can you say something about pandas?

S: They are white and black. They are cute. They are

lovely. They like eating bamboo...

T: OK, great. We will read an article about pandas.

活动2 Step3:Presentation

T: Before learning, let’s see the learning objectives together. (Ask a student to read them )

What does scanning meaning? Please look at your books

and ask a student to read it.

S: It means moving your eyes quickly down the page to

find specific information.

T: Great! The teacher explains it.

活动3 Step4 Read the article

T: Let’s scan the article to find out what these numbers

mean?(Give students some minutes to read the article.)

T: Are you OK?

S: Yes.

T: OK. Let’s look what these numbers mean.

S1:10 means...

S2: 12 means...

S3: 300 means...

S4: 2000 means...T

T:Very good. Let’s scan the article again and write

short answers to the questions. Do you understand? S: Yes. (Give them some minutes)

T: Let’s check the answers. OK?

S: OK.

T: The first question.... (

answer the questions)

T: You did well.

活动4 Step5 Read the article in details.

T:At this time,we will have a detail reading. Read

paragraph 1 and answer the first question. Are you clear?

S: Yes.

T: You can read aloud. (Give students some minutes to

finish 2,3,4)

T: OK. You did very well. Now complete the sentences

using words and phrases from the passage. You can talk in groups.

Understand? Please.

S:Yes.

(Give students some minutes to finish ,then check the

answers together.) T:I will invite some students to retail the article. You

can make a summary according to 2b or using your own words.Are

you clear?

S: Yes.

活动5 Step 6 Practice

T: Now there is a volunteer club that is to protect the

endangered animals-----pandas. Would you like to join it?

S: Yes.

T: OK. Let’s take action. You can make a poster according

to the article. First,fill in the blanks .Then think of more

ways to protect the pandas. Understand?

S: Yes.

Give students to finish the task. Then check it.

活动6 Step 7 Discussion. At this time,The panda says: “There are some ways to

protect us .Such as : built nature reserves ,grow better

bamboo .As a member of volunteer club, can you think of more

ways to protect us?”

T: OK. Let’s have a discussion. I’ll give you some

leaves, if you have some ways, please write them on the leaves.

Then I’ll invite some students to stand in the front of the

classroom to read them loudly and help stick the leaves on the

bamboo trees.OK?

S: OK.

(Play a song .Give students some minutes to discuss.)

T: Have you finished ? Invite some students to show. The

other students listen carefully.

活动7 Step 8 Proposal.

Play a recording. The panda says : “Thank you very

much.In return for this ,I would like to invite you to watch

a video.” After waching the video, we can make our students

know the other endangered animals besides pandas, for example,

tigers, whales, turtles,elephants and so on.

T: Another, I’ll show you some picytues. We can get a
