At one time, the Iroquois Indians lived along the lakes and rivers of the northern part of New York. The five tribes (部落) — the Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, and Seneca — fought with each other for years. In the late 1500s, a wise Iroquois man named Dekanawida had a dream. In his dream, he saw the end of the Indian wars. An Onondaga chief named Hiawatha agreed to help Dekanawida bring peace to the area. Hiawatha traveled from tribe to tribe, trying to persuade the tribal leaders to unite in peace. The leaders realized that if they stopped fighting, they could become a powerful force in the Northeast area. The leaders of the five tribes set up a league, called the Iroquois League, which brought all five tribes together. They set up a kind of democratic (民主的) government in which each tribe had an equal voice. A Great Council was formed. Forty-nine chiefs from every tribe were appointed to the Council. The members were all men, but they were chosen by the elder women of the tribes. The Council worked together to solve big issues for the league, while each tribe remained self-governing.In 1722, the Iroquois League increased from five to six tribes when the Tuscarora tribe joined them. The Iroquois League controlled the fur trade in the area. They controlled land from Canada to Kentucky. The Iroquois League remained powerful for over 200 years. Then during the War of Independence, most of the Iroquois League sided with the British. After the Americans defeated the British, many Iroquois villages were destroyed. The Iroquois were forced to move and live on reservations (印第安人居留地).This caused the Iroquois League to become less powerful.History shows that the writers of the United States Constitution used some of the same ideas as the Iroquois League. One section of the Iroquois Constitution is entitled “Rights of the people”and might be compared to the “Bill of Rights”, The Iroquois League's constitution is often called America's first democracy.1.The underlined word “voice” in Paragraph 3 could probably be replaced by“________”.A.sound B.power C.saying D.speech2.According to the text, the Iroquois League ________.A.consisted of six tribes in the 17th century B.became weak after the War of IndependenceC.helped the Americans defeat the British D.was greatly supported by the Americans3.The political system of the Iroquois League ________.A.was ignored by American history experts B.had nothing to do with the “Bill of Rights”C.influenced the United States Constitution D.was entitled “Rights of the People”4.Which of the following is the best title for the passage?A.The Iroquois League B.The American IndiansC.The culture of the Iroquois D.The United States Constitution答案1-4 BBCA第二节(共5小题)根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

八下外研版英语第三单元的作文全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1Unit 3: A Brighter Future for PandasI have to admit, when we started this unit on pandas, I wasn't that excited. Sure, they're cute and fuzzy, but how interesting could a unit about an animal be? Boy, was I wrong! This unit has been a real eye-opener about these amazing creatures and the critical situation they face.First off, I had no idea just how endangered pandas are. There are only around 1,800 left in the wild, mainly living in the mountains of western China. That's a shockingly small number! And their numbers keep dwindling due to habitat loss from deforestation, farming, road construction and other human activities that encroach on their territory. At this rate, pandas could become extinct in just a few decades. That would be a true tragedy to lose such an iconic, gentle species that has roamed the earth for millions of years. What really struck me was learning about just howwell-adapted and special pandas are. Their distinct black andwhite coloring provides camouflage in their environment of shadows and snow. Their thick fur keeps them warm in the chilly mountain forests. Their large wrist bones act almost like thumbs to help them grip bamboo stalks. And their protruding wrist bones can even be used for climbing trees! It's crazy how perfectly suited they are for their niche, munching bamboo all day. Then there are all the fascinating panda behaviors we learned about. Like how panda cubs are among the smallest newborn mammals relative to their moms' size. A newborn panda is tiny, blind, pale and helpless, weighing only around 100 grams! The moms have to be super gentle and attentive. Pandas are also very clean animals, leaving scent markings to identify their territories and spending a lot of time grooming themselves. While they are generally solitary, they do have a few social calls like a bleat and a chirp to communicate over short distances.Despite their bulk, pandas are surprisingly good climbers and swimmers too. Some mind-blowing panda facts: they can climb up to 13,000 feet in altitude, swim over half a mile, and migrate over 600 miles! I had no clue they were such intrepid adventurers. Pandas have all kinds of skills beyond just chilling and eating bamboo.Speaking of eating, I couldn't believe how much pandas consume - up to 84 pounds of bamboo per day! No wonder they are constantly foraging and spend 12-15 hours a day just eating and digesting. With such a fiber-heavy, nutrient-poor diet, they've evolved to have strong jaw muscles and flat molars to grind up all that fibrous plant matter. Their digestive system is also highly specialized, with an enlarged wrist bone to support their huge gut and a stomach pouch and undeveloped appendix to help ferment the bamboo. Honestly, it's a miracle they manage to survive on such a limiting diet. While learning all these panda facts was super interesting, the unit got even better when we studied conservation efforts to protect them. I was inspired by the stories of dedicated researchers who have devoted their careers to studying pandas and advocating for their survival. Like the amazing Hu Jinchu, who was one of the first to successfully breed pandas in captivity in the 1960s. Or the legendary couple Pan Guanyuan and Zhang Meng who made key discoveries about panda behavior and ecology through years observing them in the wild. It's also been uplifting to read about the panda reserves, breeding centers and reintroduction programs in China - none of which would be possible without generous funding, fieldworkand international cooperation. Scientists and organizations like the World Wildlife Fund are doing such vital work to create protected habitats, reintroduce captive pandas into the wild, and even attempt cloning of the rarest subspecies. Every effort counts when you're talking about saving a species.Personally, I've been really inspired by the idea of becoming a panda keeper or researcher after reading about people like Tang Chunxiang and Gu Yuan, who have developed such close relationships with individual pandas through years of caring for them. There are so many videos of pandas reacting excitedly and running over when their keepers arrive - it's adorable how attached they get! Being able to study and play with these gentle giants every day would be a dream job. While the situation for pandas remains precarious, this unit has given me hope that we can turn things around. By protecting their bamboo forest homes, strictly regulating activities that encroach on their habitats, cracking down on poaching, and continuing captive breeding and releases, we can ensure pandas thrive for generations to come. It will take a big, coordinated global effort, but these majestic creatures are definitely worth fighting for. After diving deep into the world of pandas, I have a profound new appreciation for them. From their incredible biology and behaviors, to the tireless work of the篇2Unit 3: My CommunityHi everyone! For this unit, we've been learning about our communities and the different people and places that make them up. It's been really interesting to explore my own community through the lens of the textbook topics and activities. One of the first things we covered was the different facilities and services available in a community like shops, parks, libraries, clinics, and more. I realized that even though I've lived in my neighborhood for years, I probably don't appreciate or even notice a lot of the amenities around me.For instance, there's a community center just a couple blocks from my apartment building that I've walked by countless times without ever going in. But when we did a unit exercise on identifying community facilities from photos, I saw that it has a gym, dance studio, computer lab, and all kinds of otherresources that locals can use. I definitely want to check it out over the upcoming holiday. We also spent some time discussing geographical features like rivers, forests, and hills that are part of the natural environment around a community. My hometown doesn't have any huge natural landmarks, but we do have a pretty big park with a lake, hiking trails, and lots of trees and vegetation. After studying examples of landforms and environment vocabulary, I have a newfound appreciation for the little slice of nature we have in the midst of the city.Another major topic was the different jobs and public service workers that are essential to keeping a community running smoothly. I've realized how many occupations I took for granted before - like firefighters, police officers, mail carriers, garbage collectors, and many more. The Job Interview listening activity was really eye-opening for learning about what kind of duties and challenges come with these crucial community roles. An especially interesting lesson was on volunteerism and community service. I don't do much volunteering myself apart from some environmental club activities at school, but the unit made me want to look into local organizations where I could donate my time. There are so many worthy causes from feedingthe homeless to tutoring underprivileged students to caring for animals. Doing community service seems like an awesome way to make my neighborhood a better place while also developing valuable skills and experience. We've also covered the infrastructure and transportation systems that enable communities to operate efficiently. My city has a decent public transit system of buses and subways, but car ownership is still extremely high with lots of traffic congestion. I think improving the reliability and reach of public transit could have a huge positive impact on reducing air pollution, commute times, parking woes, and more. I enjoyed the debate activity where we discussed different transportation proposals and options for our city. One of my favorite parts of the unit was the cultural supplement lessons on customs and traditions around the world.I loved learning about unique celebrations, festivals, holidays, and events that bond communities together. Hearing about things like the Diwalitrengar celebration in Sweden or St. Patrick's Day in Ireland made me really appreciate the diversity of cultures and the ways communities can unite around shared experiences and values.Looking back on all we've covered in this unit, I've gained so much more perspective and insight into what makes a community truly function and thrive. It's easy to just go about my daily routine without stopping to consider all the inner workings, planning, services, and civic engagement that shapes the community around me. But now I see how every individual has a role to play and contribution to make towards building a strong, vibrant community for all.Whether it's patronizing local businesses, taking advantage of public resources, or volunteering time - even small actions can go a long way towards being an active community member. This unit has ignited my interest in getting more involved with neighborhood initiatives, after-school programs, environmental projects, and other community efforts. I'm lucky to live in a relatively safe, prosperous area with good infrastructure and amenities, but there's always room for improvement through community participation and civic duty.As I get older, being an engaged citizen and community member will become increasingly important. I hope to always remember the lessons from this unit stressing how interconnected we all are through the places we live and the community systems we mutually rely upon. A neighborhood isso much more than just a cluster of houses and businesses - it's a tapestry of diverse people, services, cultures, and elements all woven together. And each of us has the opportunity to contribute our own thread to that tapestry and make our community an even richer, more vibrant place.篇3Unit 3: A Clever Merchant and His Bags of WisdomI have to admit, when I first saw the title of Unit 3 in our English textbook - "A Clever Merchant and His Bags of Wisdom" - I wasn't exactly thrilled. It sounded a bit dry and boring to me at first glance. However, as we started going through the texts and lessons, I realized this unit actually holds some valuable insights about life. Let me take you through a summary of what I learned. The main text is a short story about a merchant namedAl-Husain who travels from Baghdad to Basra by boat along the Tigris River. Even though he only has a few sacks of goods, he cleverly convinces the ship pilot that his bags are extremely heavy and valuable. Through his wit and persuasive words, he avoids paying the heavy freight charges for his goods. At first, I simply thought this was just a silly folktale about a crafty merchant trying to save some money. But as we analyzedit more deeply in class, I realized there are deeper messages underlying the story. The merchant Al-Husain represents the power of intelligence over brute force. Despite having limited physical merchandise, he uses his keen mind and smooth talking abilities to get what he wants. He outsmarts the crew through his wise words rather than relying on money or possessions. This links to one of the core themes of the unit - the importance of wisdom over wealth alone. The story reminded me of narrations about the ancient Greek philosophers who lived simple lives but were highly revered for their knowledge and insight. It made me realize that in life, having a nimble mind filled with wisdom is far more valuable than just material possessions. This is a lesson I need to take to heart, especially with all the societal pressures nowadays to chase after money and status symbols.Expanding on this theme, the unit also contained poems and essays emphasizing wisdom from other famed thinkers. We read excerpts from the Indian teacher Amma's wisdom regarding how to live a peaceful, ethical life. Her ideas about non-violence, removing one's internal veils of ignorance, and seeing the divine in all beings were very profound. The verses from thinkers likeRumi and Gibran also expounded on themes of spiritual enlightenment and living with purpose. While some of these deeper philosophical concepts went over my head at times, I could appreciate how this unit was trying to cultivate a broader way of looking at the world. It encouraged us students to become "merchants of wisdom" ourselves and develop a rich inner life, not just chase after material success. I'm realizing now just how relevant that message is for teenagers like me who get easily distracted by social media, video games, and obsessing over shallow pursuits. In addition to the virtues of wisdom, this unit also explored the strengths of emotional intelligence and communication skills - assets which helped the merchant Al-Husain in the original story. We looked at effective speaking techniques like catching the audience's attention, reading people's body language and facial expressions, varying your tone and cadence, and using the right words to persuade. While I don't plan on becoming a professional speaker, these are extremely helpful skills to have for giving classroom presentations, interviews, and just overall self-confidence.The unit wrapped up with creative writing assignments where we had to compose our own original tales or scriptscapturing themes of wisdom and wit. I've never considered myself a strong writer, but working on this project allowed me to tap into my imaginative side. I created a short drama depicting a young student who uses her clever reasoning to talk her schoolmates out of bullying another child. Looking back, I realize my narrative ultimately highlighted the idea that wisdom and ethical behavior triumph over cruelty and ignorance. So while Unit 3 may have seemed a bit odd at the outset, by the end I actually developed a much deeper appreciation for its insights. Between the folktales, poetry, biographical sketches, and other texts, it encouraged me to start cultivating wisdom, strong communication abilities, and critical thinking skills from a young age. These inner resources are not just to help me scorewell on tests and essays, but to approach life itself in a more enlightened and purpose-driven manner. As I move forward into high school and beyond, I hope to emulate the spirit of the clever merchant Al-Husain in my own way. Just like he astutely navigated challenges through his sharp mind and powers of persuasion, I want to become a true "merchant of wisdom" myself. I'll strive to fill my own personal "bags" diligently with knowledge, insight, strong ethics, and theability to think critically. These are the most valuable possessions I could travel through life with going forward.。

UNIT 3 单元主题训练Ⅰ.阅读理解A2022·泰安二模In 2018, I wanted to do something to bring change for people in my community.I carried out research to understand the problems affecting them and found that climate change was the greatest threat. When I realized many people in the rural areas faced fatal impacts such as landslides, floods and droughts, I decided to stand up.Seeing climate change threaten the availability of food and water in my country was a wake-up call.We are focused and very clear with our demands. We are not afraid of holding governments and corporations accountable for the climate crisis because the science is clear. We will not give up because our future is at stake. We need to demand for climate action as our lives depend on it too, because we do.Farmers in Ontario stood up against a proposed mega quarry (采石场) in their land. They held festivals to draw attention, they spoke up against corporate mining which threatened their groundwater and soil, they mobilised many people to stop it and in 2012, Highland Company withdrew their plans.I hope to see the end of the fossil fuel industry, and we need renewable energy. We need sustainability in every sector through green building and clean transportation.I hope to see recovery of our ecosystems through planting more trees, having urban forests and protecting wildlife. Our existence depends on that of our ecosystems.I hope to see more recovery projects built in the most affected communities. There are many climate movements all over the world and most have social media accounts.Find a local group that you can work with to demand climate action. When people are united, they cannot be defeated.Earth is our home to protect.Everyone is needed.语篇解读:本文是一篇夹叙夹议文。
四年级上册英语第三单元怎么读单元词汇表全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1Learning New Vocabulary WordsHey there friends! It's me again, your pal who loves cracking open our English textbooks. Today I want to talk about something super important - learning all those new vocabulary words we see at the start of each unit. I know some of you might think it's a drag, but trust me, it's the key to understanding what we're reading and practicing in class.Let me guide you through how I approach the vocab list for Unit 3 - "My Community." We just started this unit last week, so the words are still fresh in my mind. When I first opened up to those pages with all the new words listed out, I've got to admit, I felt a little overwhelmed. Things like "volunteer," "recycle," and "community garden" just looked like a jumbled mess at first glance. But have no fear, I've got some tips to share!First up, I simply read through the list from start to finish a couple times. I tried to sound out anything I couldn't quite pronounce and repeat those words over and over until they felt abit more natural rolling off my tongue. Getting familiar with how the words look and sound is step one.Next, and this is crucial, I went back through and wrote down any words I truly didn't understand the meaning of at all. For example, I knew "volunteer" meant someone who helps out for free, but I had no clue what a "community garden" was. I made a mini list of those totally unfamiliar words to focus on.This is where the textbook definitions and examples come in handy. For each word I didn't know, I'd read through the brief definition provided and the example sentence using the word in context. Still feeling a bit lost on "community garden?" I'd ask Ms. Roberts to explain it in a way that made sense to me. Turns out, it's a public garden tended by people in the neighborhood - what a cool idea!As I was learning the meanings, I'd also jot down a personal example for myself, using the new word in a sentence about my own life. Like "I want to volunteer at the animal shelter over summer break." Making connections to your own experiences is key to really ingraining a new vocabulary word.Alright, I think I've covered the main strategies I use to conquer those lists of new terms: read through repeatedly, identify trouble words, use the textbook definitions andexamples, ask the teacher for clarity, and make personal connections. Are there any words you'd like me to specifically go over from this unit before I wrap up?...Oh, I see Steve's hand up. Yes Steve, tell me which word is tripping you up."Environmental conservation?" No problem, my friend. That one's about protecting the natural environment we live in. The definition says it involves"preserving and careful management of natural resources." A simple example would be, "Reducing how much plastic we use is one way to practice environmental conservation." Does that help explain the meaning?Wonderful, I'm glad I could clarify that one for you. Asking questions about what you don't fully understand is so important when learning new vocabulary. Before I go, let me leave you with one final tip. Once you feel pretty confident with all the words and their meanings, put the list aside for a day or two. Then, try to recall and define as many of the words as you can just from memory. Self-testing like that really reinforces what you've learned.Alright vocabulary masters, I'll see you in class! We've got this. Put in a little effort upfront, and that vocab list won't seemso intimidating. We'll be pros at talking about our communities in no time. Let me know if any of you need any other tips!篇2Here's an essay on "How to Read the Vocabulary List for Unit 3 of the Fourth Grade English Textbook," written from a student's perspective in English, with a word count of around 2,000 words.Title: Mastering the Vocabulary List: A Student's Guide to Unit 3As a fourth-grader, one of the most daunting tasks in our English classes is tackling the vocabulary lists for each unit. Unit 3, in particular, can be a real challenge with its array of unfamiliar words and phrases. However, fear not! With a few simple strategies and a positive mindset, you can conquer this vocabulary list like a true language learner.First and foremost, let's address the elephant in the room: why is it so important to learn these words? Well, my dear classmates, vocabulary is the building block of language. Without a solid understanding of words and their meanings, it becomes incredibly difficult to communicate effectively, whether in speaking, reading, or writing. Imagine trying to build a house without bricks – it would be an absolute disaster! The same goesfor language; without a strong vocabulary foundation, your English skills will crumble. Now, let's dive into the actual process of learning the Unit 3 vocabulary list. One of the most effective methods is creating flash cards. Take a stack of index cards (or cut up some paper if you're feeling crafty) and write each word on one side, and its definition or translation on the other. Trust me, this old-school technique works wonders! Carry your flash cards with you wherever you go, and take advantage of those little pockets of time – waiting in line, riding in the car, or even during commercial breaks while watching TV. Quiz yourself regularly, and before you know it, those words will become ingrained in your memory.Another great strategy is to incorporate the new vocabulary into your daily conversations and writing. Challenge yourself to use at least three new words from the list every day. Not only will this reinforce your understanding of their meanings, but it will also help you become more comfortable with using them in practical contexts. Don't be afraid to make mistakes – that's how we learn!Speaking of mistakes, one of the most valuable tools at your disposal is your English teacher. Whenever you're unsure about aword's pronunciation, meaning, or usage, don't hesitate to ask for clarification. Your teacher is there to support you and ensure that you truly grasp the material. Additionally, consider forming study groups with your classmates. Discussing the vocabulary words together and quizzing each other can be incredibly beneficial, as you'll gain different perspectives and explanations. Now, let's address the dreaded task of memorizing definitions. While it may seem tedious, understanding the precise meaning of each word is crucial. One technique that can make this process more enjoyable is creating mnemonics – silly phrases or visual associations that help you remember the definitions. For example, if one of the words is "diligent," you could associate it with the phrase "Diligent students dig in and study like champs." The more creative and personal the mnemonic, the better it will stick in your mind. Finally, don't forget to have fun with the vocabulary list! Language learning should be an adventure, not a chore. Try incorporating the new words into games, songs, or even stories. You could write a short narrative using as many Unit 3 words as possible or create a silly rap or poem to help cement the vocabulary in your memory. The possibilities are endless, and the more you enjoy the process, the more effortless it will become. In conclusion, mastering the Unit 3 vocabulary list is not an insurmountable task. With dedication, creativity, and a positive attitude, you can conquer these words and unlock a whole new world of English proficiency. Embrace the challenge, employ these strategies, and soon enough, you'll be a vocabulary virtuoso! Remember, every word you learn is a step closer to becoming a confident and effective communicator in this beautiful language we call English.篇3Reading the Vocabulary List for Unit 3 in English ClassHey there! It's me again, your friendly neighborhood 4th grader. Today I want to talk to you about something that's really important in our English class - the vocabulary list for Unit 3. I know, I know, vocabulary can seem kind of boring compared to things like reading stories or doing fun activities. But trust me, if you don't learn the vocabulary words, everything else is going to be way harder! The vocabulary list is kind of like a treasure map that helps you understand all the new words you'll be learning about in the unit. Without it, you'd be totally lost at sea! That's why it's superimportant to take some time and really learn how to read and use the vocabulary list properly.Okay, so let's get down to business. When you open up your English textbook to the vocabulary list for Unit 3, the first thing you'll probably notice is that it's divided into sections with funny little symbols or pictures next to each word. Those symbols give you a clue about what category the words fall into for this particular unit. For example, this unit is all about food and healthy habits. So you might see a little apple symbol next to words like "fruit", "vegetables", "nutrients" and so on. Or there could be a fork and knife symbol for words relating to eating and meals. It's a really handy way to group similar words together! Now, let's take a closer look at what other information the vocabulary list gives you for each word. Generally, you'll see:The word itself - This one's obvious, but still important! You'll need to learn how to pronounce it properly. The part of speech - This tells you if the word is a noun, verb, adjective, etc. Knowing this helps you use it correctly in a sentence. The definition or translation - This explains what the word means, either with a simple definition or the translation into your native language.Example sentence - Seeing the word used in a sample sentence can really help you understand its meaning and usage better.Pretty cool stuff, right? Having all that information bundled together for each new vocabulary word makes it easier to learn in bite-sized pieces. But here's the most important tip I can give you - don't just read over the list once or twice and think you've got it down pat. That's the quickest way to forget everything! Instead, you need to go over it again and again, using different strategies like:Making flashcards or quizzes for yourself to practice definitions and pronunciationsComing up with your own example sentences using the new wordsExplaining the meanings to a friend or parent and having them quiz youDrawing silly pictures or cartoons for words that are hard to rememberTrying to use the new vocabulary in your writing assignments for English classThe more different ways you interact with and apply the new vocabulary words, the easier it will be for your brain to hold onto them. It's just like building muscle by exercising - the more you work at it, the stronger you'll get!I'll admit, spending time studying the vocabulary list isn't exactly my idea of a fun Friday night. (Although having a vocabulary words dance party could be kind of entertaining...?) But it truly does pay off in the long run when you find yourself understanding so much more of what you're reading, writing, and learning in English class. So don't be a landlubber when it comes to Unit 3's vocabulary list! Grab your treasure map and start exploring all those new words today. With some hard work and creative practice strategies, you'll be a vocabulary master before you know it. And just think - the better you get at learning vocab now, the easier ALL of your future English units and lessons will be. That's some serious buried treasure if you ask me!Okay, I probably lost you somewhere in there with all my pirate lingo. A 4th grader's brain does tend to wander... But I hope this walkthrough gave you some useful tips for taking onthe Unit 3 vocabulary list. Just remember - it may seem like a chore at first, but it's definitely worth the effort. So study up, mateys!。

贵州英语名校课堂八年级下册第三单元作文全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1My English Class is Super Cool!Hi there! I'm Xiao Ming, a student in the 8th grade at a really famous English school in Guizhou province. We just started a brand new unit in our English textbook and it's awesome! Let me tell you all about it.Unit 3 is called "My Community" and it's teaching us how to talk about our hometown, the different people who live there, and the cool places we can visit. The pictures in the book are so pretty - there are colorful buildings, smiling people from different countries, and lots of exciting activities happening.First up, we learned a bunch of new vocabulary words related to communities. My favorite word is "neighborhood" because it reminds me of my neighbors who are always so friendly and kind. We also learned words like "resident", "citizen", "tourism", and "recreation". At first some of the words were kind of hard to pronounce but my teacher helped us sound them out properly. After the new words, we read a really interesting passage about a girl named Emily and her life in New York City. Emily lives in a big apartment building with her family in a neighborhood called Brooklyn. She talked about all the amazing people, cultures, restaurants and fun things to do near her home. It made me want to visit New York someday! The grammar focus for this unit is on using adjectives to describe people, places and things. For example, we learned how to say the "crowded streets of Manhattan" or "delicious ethnic cuisines". My teacher had us go around the class and describe our own hometowns using cool adjectives. I said Guiyang has "modern skyscrapers" and "ancient temples". A few students even acted out some adjectives for extra fun!One of my favorite parts was the listening activity where we heard interviews with people from different communities across the world. There was a tour guide in Paris, a dancer in Rio de Janeiro, and a kid my age living in a rural village in Kenya. It was so neat getting to learn about their daily lives and the things that make their communities special. The Kenyan boy's community didn't have any stores or restaurants, but he talked about having lots of animals and growing their own food. I can't imagine what that would be like! For the writing part of the unit, we had to describe our dream community. Where would we want to live? What kinds of people and buildings would be there? What could we do for fun?I wrote about a community up in the mountains with fresh air, hiking trails, a big library, and neighbors who were musicians and artists. A place where I could be surrounded by nature and creativity. A few students wrote about cities while others imagined small beach towns. Our teacher said we all had such creative, well-written ideas!Overall, I'm having a blast with Unit 3 so far. It's helping me appreciate the diversity in my own community while also opening my eyes to how people live in other parts of the world. The activities are interesting and the topics are relevant to our daily lives as students. English class has never been so engaging!I hope you enjoyed hearing about what I've been learning. Stay tuned for more updates - I have a feeling the next units are going to be just as awesome. Until next time!篇2My Awesome Summer VacationHey guys! How was your summer? I had the best summer vacation ever this year and I can't wait to tell you all about it.It started off pretty normal. The first couple weeks I just lazed around the house, slept in late, played video games, and hung out with my buddies. That was fun and all, but then my parents surprised me with the news that we were going on a huge trip!My dad's friend has this amazing beach house down in Hainan Island and he offered to let us use it for a few weeks. Can you believe that? A free beach vacation house just for us! I was so psyched. We took the high-speed train down there and it was awesome. The train was super modern and fast. It only took a few hours to get from Guiyang to Haikou. I loved looking out the window and watching the beautiful scenery go by.When we arrived at the beach house, I was blown away. It was right on the beach with huge windows looking out at the turquoise ocean. The house had multiple floors, a big swimming pool, and all these cool amenities. I felt like a millionaire! We spent our days hanging out on the beautiful sandy beaches, swimming in the warm ocean, and soaking up the tropical sun. The water was so clear and you could see all the tiny fish swimming around you. I even saw some bigger fish out in the deeper areas. In the evenings, we'd have delicious seafood dinners with fresh shrimp, crab, and fish straight from the ocean. One night we had a beachside barbecue and I stuffed myself on grilled lobster, steak, and roasted vegetables. It was all so mouthwateringly good.During our stay, we also went on some really fun side trips. One day we took a boat out to explore some of the smaller nearby islands. We snorkeled through colorful coral reefs teeming with marine life. I saw clownfish, angelfish, parrotfish, and all sorts of other crazy looking creatures. It was like being in an aquarium!Another day we visited Nanwan Monkey Island which was inhabited by hundreds of monkeys just roaming around freely. We bought these little banana snack packs and the monkeys would jump right up to you begging for the food. One even climbed up onto my shoulders! I'll never forget that.We also went on a guided tour through a national park filled with hiking trails, waterfalls, and amazing views. Our guide taught us all about the island's plant and animal species. Did you know Hainan has its own unique gibbon species? We were lucky enough to spot a few swinging through the trees. On our last couple days, we checked out the shopping areas in downtown Haikou. I loaded up on fun souvenirs for my friends plus some hilarious t-shirts with funny Chinese characters on them. We also got to experience the amazing Hainanese cuisine which blends Chinese and Southeast Asian flavors. The crispy chicken rice and coconut curry shrimp were out of this world! Before we knew it, our amazing vacation was over. I was so sad to leave that gorgeous island paradise behind. But I made so many incredible memories that I'll never forget. Cold winter nights back in Guizhou, I'll be daydreaming about those warm Hainan beaches and fragrant sea breezes.Well, that's my summer vacation story! I hope you guys did something fun too. Let me know if you want to see photos and videos from the trip. I took so many! I still can't believe how lucky I was to experience such an epic summer. It's going to be hard to top, but I'm already dreaming up ideas for next year's break!篇3A Childhood Summer AdventureHi everyone! Today I want to tell you all about the best summer adventure I ever had when I was a kid. It was the summer after 5th grade when I was 11 years old. My family wenton an amazing trip to Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in Hunan Province. I'm going to share all the awesome details with you!We left Beijing on the first day of summer vacation. My dad, mom, little sister Huanhuan who was 8, and me. We took the high speed train which was so cool! The seats were really comfy and there were TV screens with movies we could watch. I played video games on my portable game console the whole 9 hour trip. When we finally arrived in Zhangjiajie, I couldn't believe how beautiful it was. Huge sandstone pillars and peaks stuck straight up into the sky, covered in greenery. Our hotel was nice too, with a big swimming pool I couldn't wait to swim in.The next morning, we went hiking on one of the scenic trails through the park. The paths were paved but constantly went up and down over the rolling mountains and valleys. I got tired pretty quickly from all the climbing uphill! My legs were sore that night. But it was so worth it for the incredible views. At one point we saw this massive rock pillar sticking up from the ground, taller than any building in Beijing! They called it the Southern Sky Column. We also walked across cool bridges suspended high up between the peaks over these misty canyons. So epic! That afternoon we visited Huangshizhai, which had a bunch of unique rock formations. My favorite was the cone karst called the Capitol Peak because it looked just like the U.S. Capitol building! We also saw ones that resembled people, like the Wise Old Man and Pretty Girl Holding a Fan. My sister and I had fun trying to pick out what each strangely shaped pillar looked like.On the third day, we took the Bailong Elevator up to the top of one of the tallest mountains. The elevator was built into the side of the cliff face and was soooo tall - over 1,000 feet! When we got to the top, we hiked along the ridge with super tall cliffs on either side. I was a little nervous being up that high but the views were incredible, like being on top of the world. My favorite part though was later that day when we went on the Hiking Trail Through the Air. It was a walkway attached to the rock pillars way up in the air! Just holding onto railings with the ground super far below was kinda scary at first. But after awhile I got braver and couldn't believe we were literally hiking through the sky between the crazy tall peaks. What an insane experience. We spent the last couple days just relaxing at our hotel pool and the park beach area. We played in the water, had splash fights, and I worked on my tan. I didn't want to leave at the end of the week!On the train ride home, I thought a lot about how awesome those seven days had been. The natural scenery of Zhangjiajie was like something from a fantasy movie, with the wild sandstone pillars and formations. I couldn't believe places that beautiful and magical actually existed in real life. But my favorite part was just the adventure of it all - going on all the high-up hiking trails, taking courage walks on the cliff-side paths, seeing incredible views I'd never seen before. It was such an exciting, unforgettable experience that made me feel like a real explorer!I'm so grateful my parents took me on that trip when I was a kid. It gave me the chance to challenge myself, face some fears, and just be awed by the breathtaking natural wonders of the world. Memories like that summer in Zhangjiajie are ones I'll cherish forever. It's a trip that taught me to try new adventures, because you never know what awesomeness is out there waiting for you! I just need to summon that brave, adventurous spirit again on my next big journey...wherever that may take me!篇4My Summer Vacation Adventure!Hey guys! I'm so excited to tell you all about the incredible adventure I had this summer vacation. It was seriously the bestsummer ever! I went on this amazing trip with my family to explore a part of China I had never been to before - Zhangjiajie!Zhangjiajie is a city in the northwestern part of Hunan Province. It's famous for its super awesome natural scenery with tons of crazy shaped mountains, pillars, and peaks. The coolest part is that Zhangjiajie was actually the inspiration for the landscape in the movie Avatar! Can you believe that? It's like being transported to another world. We flew from Guiyang to Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport. I was bouncing up and down in my seat on the plane because I was so psyched to see everything. When we finally arrived and I stepped outside, I was in total awe. The air was so fresh and clean, nothing like the city air we have back home. And the views...oh man, the views were just breathtaking! The first place we visited was Zhangjiajie National Forest Park. This place is HUGE - it covers over 120 square kilometers! We took the Bailong Elevator up to the top, which is the tallest outdoor elevator in the world at over 326 meters high. I'm not gonna lie, I was a little nervous riding it at first since it'ssee-through glass and you can see everything below you. But once we got to the top, it was all worth it.From up there, we could see the most incredible mountain scenery laid out in front of us. Jagged pillars and peaks jutting up in every direction covered in lush, green vegetation. It felt like being in a fantasy world. We spent the whole day hiking along the trails, crossing over bridges suspended among the pillars, and gawking at sights like the Southern Sky Column and Yellow Stone Village. My mind was blown! The next day, we went to Huangshi Village, also known as the "Village in the Air." This tiny village is built directly onto the side of a massive sandstone pillar! Can you imagine? The pillar is over 223 meters high and the village houses are just clinging to the side of it. We took a super narrow staircase up the side to reach the village at the top. From there, you get 360 degree views looking out over the sea of pillars and mountains surrounding you. It was so peaceful and serene up there. On our third day, we visited Baofeng Lake. This is a gorgeous bright blue lake surrounded by lush green hills and those iconic quartzite sandstone pillars jutting up out of the water. We rented a little boat and our guide rowed us out to the middle of the lake.I stuck my hand in and the water was cool and refreshing. We saw tons of fish swimming around too! The best part was whenwe entered one of the water caves where the roof opened up and we could see the pillars above us. So incredibly beautiful.Of course, we had to experience Zhangjiajie's famous glass bridges too! The first one we went on was the Grand Canyon Glass Bridge, which is the tallest glass bridge in the world at over 300 meters high! My palms were definitely sweating as we carefully made our way across the see-through glass panels looking down at the massive canyon below. But I faced my fear and it ended up being a total thrill! The second glass bridge we did was the Zhangjiajie Glass Bridge. This one is built between two giant quartzite pillars and it's over 430 meters long! As we inched our way across, I could see through the glass beneath my feet to the valleys and rivers hundreds of meters down below. Crazy! But another must-do Zhangjiajie experience checked off the list.On our final day, we visited Tianmen Mountain. This place was insane! The mountain has this huge hole or "Heaven's Gate" right through the middle that we could actually walk across using bridges and boardwalks. We first took a mind-blowingly long cable car ride up the side of the mountain which gave us more spectacular views. Once we reached the hole in the middle,we walked across these glass walkways practically hugging the mountain face. I felt like a mountain goat! From there, we climbed up narrow staircases to the very peak of Tianmen Mountain over 1,500 meters high! The views from up there were just...wow, I can't even put it into words. We could see forever in every direction. Endless rolling peaks and pillars as far as the eye could see. It was surreal. No picture could ever do it justice. You just had to be there! That about sums up the major highlights from my Zhangjiajie trip, but there's no way I could fit in all the little details and amazing moments. I stuffed my brain full of so many memories to last a lifetime. If you ever get the chance to go to Zhangjiajie, you 100% have to do it! It's an out-of-this-world experience.Well, that's all I've got for now friends! Thanks for reading about my wild summer adventure. I'm off to start planning where I want to explore next year...maybe Jiuzhaigou? Let me know if you have any suggestions! Peace out!篇5My Summer Vacation AdventuresYay, summer vacation was finally here! After a long school year, I was super excited for all the fun adventures awaiting me over the next few months. My family and I had made some awesome plans to travel and explore. I couldn't wait to tell you all about it!First up was our road trip to Yellowstone National Park. We loaded up the car with snacks, games, and pillows to get cozy for the long drive. My little brother and I competed to see who could spot different license plates from the most states. After what felt like forever, we finally made it to the park entrance. As we drove through the gates, I was in awe at the towering mountains, gushing waterfalls, and wide open meadows. We saw huge bison grazing right near the road! Our first stop was the famous Old Faithful geyser. Watching gallons of steaming hot water erupt from the ground was mind-blowing. Over the next few days, we hiked to incredible viewpoints, ziplined through the trees, and had a wild whitewater rafting adventure. After Yellowstone, we drove up to Montana to visit my cousins on their ranch for a week. They showed us how to groom and ride horses, which was terrifying at first! I got thrown off a couple times before finally getting the hang of it. We went on a real cattle drive, just like the cowboys do. In the evenings, weroasted s'mores and star-gazed at the bright Milky Way stretching across the night sky.Our next stop was the gorgeous Rocky Mountains in Colorado. We stayed in a cozy cabin right on a rushing river where we could fish and splash around. I loved waking up to the crisp mountain air and views of the snowcapped peaks out our window. We went on scary yet thrilling hikes through the alpine forests and up to crystal blue lakes. Scaling up the rocky terrain was like an extreme rock climbing course! After the mountains, we traveled down to the desert landscapes of New Mexico. The dry heat was brutal, but wandering through ancient pueblo ruins and massive caverns was fascinating. We rode camels along the sandy trails and watched Native American dancers perform by firelight. One night, we camped out under a sea of dazzling stars you could never see in the city. Finally, we ended our trip visiting family in lively Austin, Texas before heading back home. But our vacation wasn't over yet! The last few weeks were spent hanging out with friends, having sleepovers, and water balloon fights. We visited amusement parks and the beach to soak up the last bits of summer. As excited as I was to start a new school year, I was definitely going to miss all the carefree fun of summer vacation. Making endless awesome memories with my family and friends was the best! I have so many stories to share with my classmates about all my incredible adventures. This was a summer I'll never forget!篇6My Amazing Summer VacationWow, what an incredible summer vacation I just had! I have so many fun stories to share with you all. Get ready for an awesome adventure! It all started when my parents surprised me and said we were going on a big trip to the United States! I had never been outside of China before, so I was super duper excited. We took a really long flight from Guiyang all the way to Los Angeles. The plane ride felt like it took forever, but it was still kind of cool getting to watch movies and eat weird airplane food. When we finally landed in LA, the first thing I noticed was how different everything looked from back home. The roads were huge, the buildings were massive, and there were palm trees everywhere! Our first stop was Hollywood, and we got to see the famous Walk of Fame where all the biggest movie starshave their stars on the sidewalk. We also visited Grauman's Chinese Theatre and I put my hands in the hand and footprints of some of my favorite actors and characters. So cool! After a couple days of sightseeing around LA, we rented a car and started our big American road trip. We drove allll the way from California up through Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, and eventually made it to Yellowstone National Park. I had never seen anything like Yellowstone before - it's a huge forest with rivers, mountains, and crazy hot springs that let off steam and smell like rotten eggs! We saw SO many amazing animals like bison, elk, bears, and more. There was even a pack of wolves that came pretty close to our car. A little scary, but awesome!Once we left Yellowstone, we kept driving east through South Dakota to see the iconic Mount Rushmore carved into the side of a giant mountain. The four huge president's faces looking out over the landscape was unbelievable. On that part of the trip, we also stopped at the Crazy Horse Memorial, a massive monument carved into the side of the Black Hills that is still a work in progress after many decades. From there, we drove down through Colorado and stopped in Denver for a couple days. Denver is really cool - it's a huge city but also surrounded by the Rocky Mountains on all sides. Wetook a mini hike up one of the smaller peaks and the view over the city and plains was breathtaking. The last leg of our road trip took us through Kansas, Missouri, Tennessee, and eventually down to Florida. I have to say, the U.S. is an absolutely massive country! Driving for weeks on end, you really get a sense of how immense and diverse the landscapes are across the different states and regions. Our final destination was Orlando, Florida, where we spent nearly a week going to all the amazing theme parks like Disney World, Universal Studios, and more. Disney was definitely the best - it's like being transported to a magical world of rides, shows, characters, and non-stop fun and excitement. I went on so many crazy roller coasters that made me feel like I was flying through the air. The fireworks shows at night were also unbelievable! After all that adventure, it was finally time to make the long journey back home to Guizhou. I was really sad for the trip to end, but also so grateful to my parents for taking us on such an epic vacation that I'll never forget. Exploring so many different cultures, landscapes, and attractions really opened my eyes to how big and amazing the world is beyond Guiyang.I made so many incredible memories - getting my hands in those famous handprints in Hollywood, coming face-to-face with wild bison in Yellowstone, gazing up at the massive carvings of Mount Rushmore, feeling tiny next to the towering Rocky Mountains, and getting blown away by the magic of Disney World. Experienceslike this are why I love traveling to new places and exploring different cultures. It makes me appreciate how diverse and beautiful our world is.I feel so lucky to have had this opportunity, and it really motivates me to continue working hard in school so that someday I can go on more adventures and see everything this amazing planet has to offer. Who knows, maybe I'll even get to travel to outer space one day! The universe is full of endless possibilities just waiting to be explored. For now though, I'm just happy to be back home and share all my crazy stories with you. What an unforgettable summer it was!。
