Earthquakes

一、说教材

1、教材的地位与作用

本单元以earthquakes为话题,以谈论natural disasters为切入点,让学生在交流中发现和了解大自然的灾难、带给人类的伤害以及人类在大自然面前的渺小;通过阅读唐山大地震,使学生从一个侧面了解地震的震撼;一篇让学生了解震前异常及损失、震后人们如何救援,让大家明白团结的重要性。

本节课用梯次递进的方式让学生在预读和阅读、讨论、练习等多项语言功能运用的过程中,深入学习、了解自然灾害,并学习用英语表达对它们的感受和关切,从而在学习和运用语言的同时,强化对自然的敬畏与保护意识。本单元实现了语言学习和传播环保思想的完美统一2、教学目标的确定

1知识目标:

1、Read the passage and describe the earthquke in TangShan.

2、Enable the Ss to talk about natural disasters. Let the Ss know the damages caused by earthquakes and how to protect ourselves in an earthquke.

2能力目标:开展任务型阅读,获得理解、识别和处理相关信息的能力。展开多种形式的任务活动,使学生具备较熟练地运用语言的能力。

3情感目标:培养学生热爱和保护大自然的意识,教育学生形成与自然和谐相处的态度。

3、教学重点、难点

教学重点:Help the Ss know more about the earthquake in Tangshan and how to protect ourselves in an earthquke.

教学难点:Analyze the structure of some sentences.

4、对教材的处理

基于以上对教材的分析,同时结合本班学生的实际能力和情况,引导、启发学生更多地了解自然灾害,播放视频,增加相关单词量,理解和掌握课文单词和短语。引导学生预读,并完成以多种形式呈现的题目,以加深学生对文章的理解和掌握。然后,在学生了解课文大意的基础上,复述课文、处理语言点,加深对课文的理解。

二、说教学方法

1、本单元的话题是实际生活中熟悉的自然灾害,为了让学生有浓厚的学习兴趣,丰富学生的

感知材料,我一方面充分利用学生已有的知识,一方面对从互联网上搜索到的图片和视频进行加工整合,创设教学情境,引出课文中的新短语,在认识新短语的基础上,通过小组合作的形式,巩固和运用课文中出现的生词和短语。

2、开展多种类型的任务型活动,在阅读和听完课文后复述,提供给学生合作交流的空间和时

间,促使学生为完成学习目标而自主学习、合作学习。

三、说学法指导

1、由于学生基础薄弱,语言表达能力欠缺,为了使学生在课堂上掌握更多知识,要求学生课

前做好准备,通过自主学习,通过小组做合作学习,相互交流,通过探究达到熟练掌握与灵活运用的目的。

2、为了创设生动有趣的情境,引导学生快速进入学习语言的状态,我在课前准备了自然灾害

的图片和视频,把学生从直观的情境里带到学习新知的氛围当中。

四、说教学过程

Step 1: Leading-in

展示自然灾害图片和地震视频,丰富学生单词量,扩大学生视野,为进一步学习课文打基础。

(运用了大量的图片和视频既可以引起学生对自然灾害的关注,也引出本单元即将要接触到英语单词,为之后的阅读理解奠定基础;还用到了注解模式里的彩笔及插入页面对个别重点单词进行标记讲解)

Step 2: Reading and comprehending

播放地震视频,加深学生对地震的理解。

要求学生把课文中发生震前怪事罗列出来;另外,找出所有出现在文中的数据,体会地震造成的损失。最后复述以检测学生对课文的理解。(加入了地震的图片及视频加深对地震的了解,插入了幕布帮助学生复述课文,巩固所学,在阅读过程中多次运用了工具栏中的倒计时功能,让学生养成在限定时间内完成阅读内容的习惯。)

It connects unit 1 a scientist from England and the following units together. It tells us some information about the geography and history of the United Kingdom. Getting to know the country better has a good effect on the studens’learning English. The reading passage is of course the most important part of this unit. It is made up of three aspects: What the UK concludes;Thegeographical division of England;The important role London plays as a cultural and political center of the UK. This reading material combines knowledge and culture together, and certainly it will arouse the sudents’ interest. By learning this passage, stenden ts are expected to achieve the following aims.
