In China, it depends on where you are. In big cities, students usually ride bikes to school or take buses. And in places where there are rivers and lakes, students usually go to school by boat. That must be a lot more fun than taking a bus.

Step 1: Lead in

Create a situation that I am late for the class because of the raining weather. Then I will catch the chance to guide my students to think about the reasons, and then I will lead out today’s topic naturally.

Step 2: Pre-reading

Do a survey: Students will find out the advantage and disadvantage of each useful transportation tool.

Step 3: While-reading

Skimming: Guide students to answer the question by skimming: how many areas are mentioned in the passage.

Scanning: Guide students to scan the passage and finish a true or false exercise. Step 4: Post-reading

Make a report: Six students in each group, then they will design a better way to get to school for their group members according to their distance from home to school, the school transportation he/she can take and the weather etc. Then I will invite one representative from each group to make a report.

Step 5: Summary and homework

Summary: Students will retell the passage according to the information on the blackboard. What’s more, I will guide my students to pay more attention their safety on the way to and from school.

Homework: Students need to search more information about how people get to work and write down a composition to introduce it.
