Mars is red. It is the closest planet to the Earth. Of all the planets, it is the most similar to the Earth, so scientists are very interested in studying it. A new study has found that people’s life is shorter in North China. It showed that the life expectancy (平均寿命）of people had been cut down by 5.5 years there. Scientists think that it is because of the heavy air pollution. It is really the truth. Our government has already done something. However, it doesn’t seem to work so well.
“Air pollution is bad for people’s health. It is much more serious than we can imagine,” said Chen Yuyu of Peking University, one scientist of this study.
There was serious smog and haze in Beijing on the first days of December in 2016. The sky was gray and the air was strange. Heavy haze covered the city.
