湖南师范大学附属中学创建于1905年，她的前身是民主革命先驱禹之谟先生创办的惟一学堂，是湖南省首批示范性普通高级中学，系省直属单位。她既是一所文化底蕴深厚、办学成绩卓著的百年名校，又是一所在新的历史时期坚持教育传承与创新、积极引领潮流、被社会公认为真心实意实施素质教育的窗口学校。110多年来，学校培养了大批革命志士和科技、经济、文化人才。
学校坐落在湖南长沙风光秀丽的湘江之滨、人文荟萃的岳麓山下，环境优美，布局协调，功能区划合理。整个校园绿树与红墙交相辉映，干净整洁，更显校园文明；教育教学设施完备，并已具备信息化功能；生活设施齐全，能为师生提供良好的生活服务。

The High School Attached to Hunan Normal University Introduction
The High School Attached to Hunan Normal University, designated by the Department of Elementary Education of the Ministry of Education as a member under the Program of the Construction of Exemplary High Schools at the State Level, is a key high school under the direct authority of the Department of Education of the People’s Government of Hunan Province .With a history of almost 100 years, our school can be traced back to Weiyi School founded in 1905 by Yu Zhimo, a predecessor of the Democratic Revolution. It is not only a century-old school with profound cultural heritage and outstanding achievements, but also is recognized by the society as an example that insists on educational inheritance and innovation, actively sets the trend in education, and provides education for all-round development. For more than 110 years, the school has cultivated a large number of revolutionaries and talents in fields of science, technology, and culture.
The school is located between the beautiful Xiangjiang River and Yuelu Mountain. The environment is peaceful, the layout is well-coordinated , and the function zoning is proper . The entire campus is clean and tidy, with green trees and red walls complementing each other. Its educational and teaching facilities are complete, and it already has information-based function. It has ample living facilities, providing excellent accommodation for teachers and students.
The school has a strong faculty, including one nationally outstanding teacher, 14 special grade teachers in Hunan Province, 3 senior teachers, 119 teachers with master's and doctoral degrees and 4 Changsha famous teachers and famous principals' studios. Our students have won a significant number of gold medals and silver medals in the fields of mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology at the International Olympic Competitions for High-school Students, ranking among the top of our nation, thus bestowing our school with the eulogy of “a Cradle of Gold Medals”. The unprecedented teaching framework of “Two Stresses (namely, stresses on both basic courses and courses for extended disciplinary studies) and Four Directions (namely, cultivating students in the directions of practicality, academic research, personal interests and intellectual accomplishment)” were also implemented. The introduction and the implementation of this new teaching system has provided our students with boundless opportunities for their course studies and their personal development.
