ⅢGrammatical structure

三个平行的分词短语独立结构就,排比句的修辞手法。

(be)on one’s way:be independent

eg We are expected to solve the problem on our own.

2.be supposed to : should, must, be expected to 应该,必须,被期望

e.g. Who is supposed to look after the room?

You are supposed to be responsible for them?

ing. 强调句

3.That’s where we’re go

即:That’s the place we’re going to.

英语中特有的一种强调句句型是:It is/was+强调部分+that/who+句子其他成分。

e.g. It is he who will be taught by me.

It is from the orange that we can get vitamin C.

ⅢDetailed study of the text

I have something to do:此句型属动词不定式结构,不定式作名词或代词的修饰语。

e.g. Mary needs a friend to play with.

There was really nothing to fear.

2.These are just some things I like about college.(para.1)

,此句中的some 作定语。

“一些”多用在肯定句中,否定句和疑问句中则用“any”

“some”

e.g. I have some questions. 我有一些问题。

Is there any ink in your pen? 你的钢笔里有墨水吗?

“some”除了作“一些”讲以外,还可以表示“某个”的意思。

e.g. I have read that in some magazine. 这个我在某一本杂志上读过。

3. Everything I do has to be my decision, and that gives me the responsibility of handling my own

这是个并列句。在第一个句子中主语是everything, 谓语是情态动词has to +be 的结构,my decision 作表语。主语和谓语之间的I do 主谓结构作everything 的定语。在第二个句子中that 主语指代的是第一个句子的全部内容。及物动词give 作谓语。后面表示人称的me 作间接宾语,responsibility 作直接宾语。

4.情态动词must 与have to 的用法和比较:

must与have to 均可表示必须,不同的是must 表示说话人的主观看法。have to 表示客观需要。

e.g. I don’t like this TV set. We must buy a new one..

我不喜欢这台电视,我们必须买台新的。

This TV set doesn’t work. We have to buy a new one.

这台电视机坏了,我们得买台新的。

应注意:must 只有现在形式,要表示过去或将来时间里的“必须”就要借助于have to的某种形式。

e.g. We had to buy a new one. (had表示过去式)

该课程是我院各专业学生必修的一门公共基础课程,旨在培养学生的英语综合应用能力(听、说、读、写、译);培养学生使用英语处理日常和涉外业务活动能力。使他们在今后工作中与社会交往中能用英语有效地进行信息交流,提高综合文化素养,以适应社会发展日益国际化的需要。 (四)本课程在人才培养过程中的作用 经过本课程的学习,使学生扎实语音、语法、词汇和基本句型等语言基本功,强化并提高听、说、读、写、译的综合能力,提高学生就业竞争力。 二、课程的基本要求 通过学习本课程,学生应该达到以下要求: 1、词汇 认知2500 个英语单词(包括入学时要求掌握的1000 个词) 以及由这些词构成的常用词组,对其中1500个左右的单词能正确拼写,能进行英汉互译。 2、语法 掌握基本的英语语法规则,在听、说、读、写、译中能正确运用所学的语法知识。 3、听力 能听懂涉及日常交际的结构简单、发音清楚、语速较慢(每分钟120 词左右)的英语对话和不太复杂的陈述,理解基本正确。能理解具体信息,理解所听材料的背景,并能推断所听材料的含义。 4、口语 掌握一般的课堂用语,并能模拟或套用常用口头交际句型,就日常生活和有业务提出问题或做出简单回答,交流有困难时能采取简单的应变措施。 5、阅读 能阅读中等难度的一般题材的简短英文资料,理解正确。在阅读生词不超过数3% 的英文资料时,阅读速度不低于每分钟50 词,能读懂通用的简短文字材料,如信函、产品说明等,理解基本正确。并且掌握以下阅读技巧: 1)理解文章的主旨或要点; 2)理解文章中的具体信息; 3)根据上下文推断生词的意思;

Date: Sep. 25, 2010 Period: 2 Content:Unit 1 listening and speaking Teaching aims: After studying this unit, the students are expected to be able to 1.Grasp the basic skills necessary to understand and talk to other people when meeting them for the first time; 2.Understand the main ideas of Text A, B and C, and master the useful sentence structures and words and expressions found in the relevant exercises of the first two texts; 3.Know clearly how to use the present simple and past simple tenses of English; 4.Fill in a form with their personal information; 5.Understand the main idea of an English paragraph and identify the topic sentence. Teaching focus: 1. To learn how to start a conversation with other people 2. How to talk about yourself. 3. Explain some language points to Ss. 4. Explain some grammar points to Ss. Teaching difficulties: 1. How to improve Ss’ speaking ability. 2. How to improve Ss’ listening ability. Teaching procedures: First Period Step 1 Preview (5 minutes) The teacher explains the Preview so that the students will have some idea of what this unit is about. This is the first unit of Book One. In the Listening and Speaking section, you will learn how to start a conversation with other people and how to talk about yourself. Then, the teacher will give the students a chance to introduce you. Step 2 listening and speaking (40 minutes) 1) Introducing Yourself (20 minutes) A. listen to the first half of the short talk in Exercise 1 twice and fill in the missing words; B. listen to the second half of the short talk in Exercise 1 twice and fill in the missing words; C. listen to the whole short talk and do Exercise 2. 2) Getting to Know People (20 minutes) A.go through the new words in the 1st conversation in Exercise 3 and listen to the conversation twice while filling in the missing words; B.answer the questions about the conversation by way of group discussion or the traditional teacher- student interaction; C.go through the second conversation with the same steps;
