A Fighter for Justice
He was denied admission to one law school because he was black. But today that same school has a law library named after him. You may not know much about Thurgood Marshall, but he strengthened education rights for African Americans all over the USA.
Marshall was born in Baltimore in 1908. Like other African American students of his time, he went to segregated schools. These schools were not illegal. An 1896 law stated that schools for blacks and whites could be “separate but equal.” But Marshall knew that most black schools were not equal. He decided to do something about it.
Marshall received a law degree from Howard University. Then he began to work at changing the country’s schools. Marshall’s strategy was to start with colleges and graduate schools, because he thought judges would sympathize with ambitious young African Americans searching for an education.
In 1935, he successfully started a legal case against the
University of Maryland Law School to accept its first black student. Other cases followed, with similar results. By the 1950s, Marshall was ready to turn to grade schools and high schools. In 1954, he accepted the case of Linda Brown, who wanted to attend a white grade school near her home. As a result of Marshall’s arguments, the Supreme Court changed the law. It said that “separate” schools could never be “equal.”
In 1967, Marshall became the first African American appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court. Until he retired in 1991, he supported many other civil rights bills.

Does your teen spend all of his or her free time playing video games, talking on the phone or hanging out with friends that don’t really meet with your approval? Is your son or daughter always asking you for money? Perhaps it’s time to tell your teen to get a job. You might disagree by asking “But he’s still in school and if he gets a j ob his schoolwork might suffer.”

Teaching them to be self-supporting is the best alternative.
Parents may argue that it is their responsibility to support their children and it is true that as parents it is our responsibility to suit the
needs of our children until they reach legal age but part of responsible parenting is preparing our children to be responsible and self-supporting as they move into adulthood. When teens get their own jobs it gives them a sense of achievement. It also helps keep them out of trouble since they have less time to be tempted(诱惑) by peer pressure. They are making their own money, which allows them to make purchases such as cell phones and pay the bill on their own rather than depending on their parents. Allowing them to pay their own bills also gives them a chance to get to know the world of adulthood.
All too often, teens view adulthood from the view of being old enough to drive and drink but they overlook such aspects of adulthood as working, paying bills, saving money and managing expenses responsibly. When your teen gets a job you should encourage him or her to open a bank account with the first paycheck. It may be best to suggest a savings account at first since balancing a checkbook may lead to problems for those who are not conservative spenders. Encourage your teen to spend money wisely. Believe it or not, it really does make a difference to them when they’re spending their own money rather than yours.

My cousin Casi agreed to watch my children for me, while I went to a lunch meeting. To thank her, I went by Starbucks to get her

I pulled up to the window, and the cashier informed me that they were out of apple cider. I said it was okay, and changed my order to a mocha. After ten minutes, this “teller” finally took my deposit. By then, I had reached my boiling point. I violently grabbed the receipt and hit the gas of my minivan as hard as I could. I yelled, “She deserved it. She didn’t see me.”
A few days later, I had a rough day with my kids. Near the Starbucks, I knew I deserved to use my free coupon. I ordered my

When you look for a job, you probably take salary, location and chance for advancement into consideration. Most people don’t stop to consider that they should be choosing a career based on the type of person they are. You are going to spend a large part of your life at work—you should choose a career that is compatible with which personality you really are.
These personality types were developed by career psychologist John Holland, who identifies six general types of people. Here are some basic personality types and careers that go with them:
1. Realistic Personalities
If you are a realistic personality, you are hands-on, practical and straightforward. No beating around the bush for you! For example: Engineer, Surveyor, Computer Support, Specialist, Electrician, Orthodontist.
2. Investigative Personalities

3. Artistic Personalities
Not only are artistic people creative and imaginative, they are also great problem solvers. They bring another way of looking at something. Artistic people are intuitive. Multi-Media Artist, Art, Drama, and Music Teacher, Postsecondary, Architect, Editor, Graphic Designer, Director, Producer.
4. Social Personalities

5. Enterprising Personalities

6. Conventional Personalities
These are the detail keepers. Without the Conventional personalities nothing would really get done. They are orderly, careful

意料之中，虽然客观上这两项的难度的确大了些，但我们在教学中仍不可忽视这一点，即要在立足课本的同时，应重视学生的课外阅读。短文改错和作文得分一般，这提醒老师在教学中仍要加强课外阅读指导和训练，加强作文和短文改错的训练。 （二）各大题主要失分点及其原因分析： 第一部分：听力 听力既与学生所学教材紧密联系，又聚焦高考，与高考题型保持一致。听力语速较慢难度不大，但得分率不算高。本项失分较多的题目分别为：第3、5、6题，其中3、6题得分率最低。 第二部分：阅读 本次阅读理解包括四篇短文，一篇七选五，体裁涉及议论文和记叙文，所选文章具有一定的思想性和可读性，事实细节题、推理判断题和主旨大意题等各种题型均有涉及，注重考查学生的阅读理解能力。其中16、23、26题得分率比较低。 第三部分：完型填空 完形填空主要考查学生在阅读理解的基础上对语篇、语法和词汇知识的掌握情况，要求学生能够综合运用所学的词汇、语法等知识选出最佳选项，是综合性能力比较强的题型，也是学生难得高分的题型。本篇完形填空选用的夹叙夹议文体，选材精当，内容感人，问题设置非常巧妙。主要考查了三种能力：阅读理解能力；利用上下文线索进行分析和推理的能力；学生语言基础知识的运用能力。总的来说，材料偏难，达不到锻炼的效果。难题占了一半以上，其中41、42、47、50最难。 第四部分：语法填空与短文改错 这两道题考场学生的综合能力，难度较大，也是高考的难点与易错点。得分率非常的低。学生对一些语法点和语言点掌握的不牢固，需要不断加强训练，总结答题技巧。 第五部分：写作和书面表达 本次作文不是很好写，尤其对于刚上高中的学生来说更是很难，甚至出现了很多0分现象。在评卷的过程中我们还发现下面所存在的
