Last week, we learned some words, in these words, there are the same letters:
a, e, i, o and u. They have the same sounds.

Task 1. Revision
Last week, we learned some words, in these words, there are the same
letters: a, e, i, o and u. They have the same sounds.
/ei/ cake / face / game / lake / name/
/i:/ be / he / me / we / these /
/ ai / bike / fine / kite / rice / time /
/ əu / go / home / no / nose / so /
/ju:/ puter / cute / music / pupil / use /
Can you give some examples? Let the Ss think about for some minutes, then
try to say out some words.
Task 2 Listening
l. Ask the Ss to listen to the tape and try to conclude the sounds of these
words:
cap / cat / dad / man / map / / æ /
desk / egg / pen / red / yes / / e /
big / city / him / sit / with / / i /

2. Tell the Ss that these sounds are different from those in

Check the answers with Ss.
Task 3. Reading
1. Read after the tape of the new words according to the sound of the
second letter in each group. ( Part B)
2. Translate the Chinese meanings of the new words:
such as: habit, lab, mad, wet, bill, silk, risk, rock, gun. . .
3. Read the phrases below. Pay attention to the different sounds of the
letters in bold.
a. take this bag
b. these eggs
c. a nice picture
d. open the box
e. a music club
