Lesson 12. Goodbye and good luck再见，一路顺风

Our neighbour, Captain Charles Alison, will sail from

Portsmouth tomorrow. We'll meet him at the harbour

early in the morning. He will be in his small boat, Topsail.

Topsail is a famous little boat. It has sailed across the

Atlantic many times. Captain Alison will set out at eight

o'clock, so we'll have plenty of time. We'll see his boat

and then we'll say goodbye to him. He will be away for

two months. We are very proud of him. He will take part

in an important race across the Atlantic.

will be+地点

small boat表示船形体上的小，后文中所说的little boat也是小船，但是little往往用于表示倾注了一定的感情。

补充短语：be famous for因…而出名

be famous as作为…而出名

well-known adj.著名的

be well-known for因…而著名

5. It has sailed across the Atlantic many times.

across此处为介词，表示从表面穿过(through是从内部)

注意：the Atlantic(Ocean)大西洋

the Pacific(Ocean)太平洋

the Indian(Ocean)印度洋

times表示次数

once，twice，three times，four times…

补充：sometime在某一时候 sometimes有时

some time一段时间；在未来的某时；经过若干时间

6. Captain Alison will set out at eight o'clock.

一般将来时：will+动原

set out/off 出发；动身 see sb off送某人离开

7. We'll have plenty of time.

大量；许多

既可以修饰可数名词，也可以修饰不可数名词

注意：a number of+可数名词

a great deal of、an amount of+不可数

8. We'll see his boat and then we'll say goodbye to him.

say…to sb对某人说…

9.He will be away for two months.

be+副词，表示某种状态

10.We are very proud of him.

be proud of以……为到自豪

be proud to do……很骄傲地去做

pride (v.) oneself on……为…感到自豪和骄傲

take pride (n.) in…对…感到自豪/骄傲

Shall常用于第一人称的代词I和we的后面，而will可用于所有人称。

be going to + do sth表将来

多用于口语，强调事先打算、计划要做的事情或有某种迹象要发生的事情。如：
