全球贸易新挑战

亚太经合组织APEC 保护主义protectionism 分歧disputes

目前，全球多边贸易体制的发展面临新的挑战，主要是贸易保护主义有所抬头，新的贸易壁垒不断出现，贸易磨擦时有发生。针对这一情况，亚太经合组织各成员，应共同反对贸易保护主义，消除贸易壁垒，推动通过对话和协商解决彼此在贸易上的分歧。公平、开放的多边贸易体制有利于促进地区和全球贸易的稳定增长。

The world's multilateral trading system is currently facing new challenges mainly in the form of

rising protectionism, new trade barriers and frequent trade frictions. Given such a situation, APEC

members should work together to reject trade protectionism, remove trade barriers and resolve

whatever trade disputes they have through dialogues and consultations. A fair and open

multilateral trading system serves steady growth of trade at both regional and international levels.

中国的全民教育

九年义务教育nine-year compulsory education 文盲illiteracy

蓬勃发展thriving education 差距disparities

中国的全民教育取得了历史性进步。到2004年底，全国普及九年义务教育人口覆盖率达到94%，青壮年文盲下降到4%，女童入学率达到98.9%。全民教育的蓬勃发展，直接推动了中国举世瞩目的巨大变化。但是，我们也清醒地看到，中国全民教育发展也面临着诸多困难，城乡之间、地区之间教育发展的差距依然存在，教育的基础还比较薄弱。我们要继续为实现全民教育的目标作出不懈的努力。

China has made historic progress in advancing education for all. By the end of 2004, nine-year

compulsory had covered 94% of the population, illiteracy rate among youth and middle aged had

dropped to 4%, and school-age girls’ attendance rate had reached 98.9%. The thriving education

for all is a major driving force behind the present-day China’s amazing changes that have riveted

the entire world. Nevertheless, national education in China is not without its difficulties.

Disparities between urban and rural areas and between regions remain a stern reality. The nation’s

foundation for education as a whole is still weak. We must keep on working hard to attain the

goals of education for all.

京剧角色

京剧是一种集歌剧表演、歌唱、音乐、舞蹈和武术于一体的表演艺术。京剧的角色分成生、旦、净、丑。一般男子称“生”，又分“老生”和“新生”。中年成熟男子称“老生”，青年男子称“小生”。一般妇女称“旦”，又细分为“青衣”，“武旦”和“花旦”。品貌或性格迥异的男子称“净”，也叫“花脸”。诙谐、幽默、机智的男子称“丑”。

Beijing Opera is a performing art that embraces opera, singing, music, dancing and martial arts. In

Beijing Opera, there are four roles: sheng, dan, jing and chou. The sheng (male role) is divided

into lao sheng and xiao sheng: the former is a mature, middle-aged man, while the latter portrays a

young man. The dan (female role) is divided into qing yi (respectable and decent ladies), wu dan

(military or non-military women capable of martial arts), and hua dan (lively and clever young

girls). The jing (painted-face role) means all kinds of painted-faces and acts as the male role that

has a peculiar personality or appearance. The chou (comic face which means clown) always acts

as a witty and funny folk chivalrous man.

在大家进入景区游览之前，有几个注意事项要提醒一下：

Before you visit the scenic area, I would like to give you several tips:

首先，我们景区会给大家配一个英文导游，请听从我们导游的安排，遵守时间，以便顺利完成整个行程。请大家记好导游的电话、旅游车牌，手机随时保持开机状态，因为我们这个景区比较大，当与团队走散时，请不要慌张，我们的导游一定会来找你们。

First, we will provide you with an English-speaking guide. Please take his advice during the trip

and follow the schedule. Please don't forget his phone number and your bus's number. Please don't

turn off your mobile phone so that we can reach you in case you get lost. Should you lose your

way, stay calm, our guide will soon find you.

其次，请注意安全。摄影时请不要到有危险的地区拍摄或攀爬，请注意妥善保管个人的贵重物品，照顾好随身物件，遇到紧急情况可以喝我们的工作人员联系。

Second, safety first. Please don't venture to climb or have photos taken in dangerous places. Please

take good care of your valuables. You can contact our staff in case of emergency.

此外，我们景区内的民族风情表演区在上午10:00和下午3:00各有一场表演，大家如果有兴趣的话可以去观看，费用已经包含在门票里了，所以不用另外付钱。

There will also be a performance at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the Ethnic Performance Section. The

cost is included in the entrance fee, so you are welcome to the show.

中美经贸合作五条原则

回顾中美经贸关系的发展历史，我们应当从中汲取一些重要的经验和教训。我想就发展中美公平贸易与经济合作提出五条原则，与各位商榷。这五条原则是：

A review of Sino-US trade economic relations reveals certain important experience and lessons

that we should bear in mind. Now I would like to propose the following five principles for fair

trade and economic partnership between China and the U.S. for your consideration:

第一、互利共赢。从大处着眼，既要考虑自己利益，又要考虑对方利益。

First, mutual benefit and win-win result. Thinking broadly, one should take account of the other's

interests while pursuing its own.

第二、把发展放在首位。通过扩大经贸合作来化解分歧。

Second, development first. Existing differences should be resolved through expanded trade and

economic cooperation.

第三、发挥双边经贸协调机制作用。及时沟通和磋商，避免矛盾激化。

Third, greater scope to coordinating mechanisms in bilateral trade and economic relations.

Disputes should be addressed in a timely manner through communication and consultation to

avoid possible escalation.

第四、平等协商。求大同存小异，不动辄设限和制裁。
