It is a great honor for me to stand here and study English with you. My name is Li Jianwu. I’m your English teacher. You can call me Mr. Li. I like making friends. Do you want to be my friends? Ok, we’re friends now. If you love me, please love English,. Just like the old saying:“Love me, love my dog(爱屋及乌)”I like music, too.Do you like music? V ery good! I think listening to English songs is a good way to study English. Now let’s enjoy an English song: You Are My Sunshine.Step 2: Lead-in导入1.Let the students enjoy an English song: You Are My Sunshine.2.Get the students to pay attention to the words: you are; you make;skies are; I love.3.Lead in the topic: the subject-verb agreement(主谓一致).4.Make sure the students know what the subject-verb agreement is. Step 3 Observe and study发现与学习1.T: Now, please open your English books on page 5.Look at the following two sentences from the text and observe the differences between them.(1)Our group are all going to visit them in the forest.(2)Our group is going to be very tired and dirty by the afternoon..2.T: (1)Which word is the subject in the sentences?(2)Why does the first sentence use “are” while the second one uses “is”?Ss:..T: Yes, you are right. If the word “group” refers to(指的是)different members, use a plural verb(动词的复数形式). If the word “group” is considered as(被看作是)a whole(整体), use a singular verb(动词的单数形式). The word “group” is called collective noun(集体名词).3.Brainstorm Ask the students to list some collective nouns.Step 4 Real-time application即时应用Let the students do some exercises.Check the answers to make sure the students choose the right answers. Step 5 Knowledge extension知识扩展T: If we want to learn the subject-verb agreement well, I think we must pay attention to the three rules:1.语法一致原则:即主语是单复数形式,谓语动词用单数形式;主语是复数形式,谓语动词用复数形式。

1) The singer and the dancer____ (looks/look) so like each other, they’re twins.2) The singer and dancer____ (is/are)going togive us a performance.如果指两个或两个以上不同的人或事物的时候,谓语动词用复数如果指的是同一个人或物, 或者指同一概念的时候, 谓语要用单数2. 就近一致原则:即谓语动词用单数形式还是复数形式取决于最靠近它的那个主语的单复数形式。

1). Either your students or William _____(knows/know) this.不是你的学生就是威廉知道这件事2). Not only the students but also the teacher _________ (wish/wishes) a holiday. 不但是那些学生,而且那个老师也希望有个假期。

说明:either ... or…; neither ... nor…; not only ... but also…在句子中连接主语的谓语动词要和就近的主语保持一致。

3. 意义一致原则:即主语形式上为单数,但意义为复数时,谓语动词用复数形式;主语形式上为复数,但表示单数意义,谓语动词用单数形式。

1) The police ____(is/are)searching the woods for the murderer.警方正在树林中搜寻杀人犯。

2) Maths ____(is/are)one of the most important courses in middle schools.数学是中学里最重要的课程之一。

3).Someone___(is/are) asking for you. 有人找你。

4). Nothing ___(is/are)found in the room.在屋子里什么也没找到。

说明:复合不定代词作主语, 谓语动词要用单数,如:someone ,somebody, something, anybody, anyone, anything, everybody, everyone, everything, nobody, no one, nothingStep 6 Consolidation and improvement巩固与提高T: Although we have learned some rules about the subject-verb agreement, I think the best way to use the verb correctly is to do more exercises.
