When I waspreparing for my speech today, /I suddenly realized that the

collage English test 6 is around the corner./ And the writing in cet4 last year

came into my mind. /It’s about learning./ It set a question: now that we have the

cellphone and the internet, why should we learn/. Though I’ve forgotten what I

thought during that exam, but I’m sure I felt really astonished. Afterwards, I

asked my classmates and my friends for their answers. It’s quite funny, one of

them said she just want to get a diploma so that she can get a good job. And there

is also an interesting answer, it’s very romantic, my friend said, to know the

universe. No matter which answers is correct in your mind, I believe you still

have the question, why should we study?

Well, I’d like to talk about that from two parts, professional and amateurish.

We, human have lived in the word for hundred millionyears;wedon’t have a

strong body like tigers, lions and elephants. And we also have no Strong ability

to adapt to the environment like cockroaches, mice and spiders. How can we

survival for such a long time? From history books, we know that the biggest

distinction between human and animals is that human can create tools, and it’s

the tools that help human to overcome all kinds of difficulties from nature. And

the base of making tools is what? It’s learning, it’s study. So from that we can

know that cellphone and the internet are just tools, they help human to live a

better live, but it doesn’t mean we can stop learning, if we do it, our life would

not be much better but stay at such a level, and even descend.

History is a very serious and professional topic, then that’s me tell you

something about our life.

Before that I’d like to ask you a question, do you know the different between

know and understand? I believe you know it. And that’s also one of the most

important reasons why we should study. let me give you an example, if I told you

One plus two is 10, and I don’t tell you why, then can you tell me what is two

plus two? Of course you don’t know. Because you don’t understand the

relationship inside the equation. Knowing is quite different from understanding.

It’s just like the cellphone and you brain. You can get information from cellphone

and the internet, but only by learning and understanding canwe use the

information. And I think there is no need to tell you why we should use the

information.

Just as the saying goes, there is no end for learning. Human are progressing,

and our future would be better by the new things we learn. And our life, our daily

life also would be much more colorful and splendid by learning.
