Happy Chinese New Year
Spring Festival is a traditional holiday exclusive to China. However, as global
communications multiply, Spring Festival is celebrated not only by Chinese people,
but also by many foreigners. All of them take a share of the merry.
To mark this special occasion and build up the festive atmosphere, we held a party
titled “Happy Chinese New Year” at Xi’an Mandarin Education School on January 4
th
,
2013. It gave a chance for friends from countries like America, Spain and Malaysia to
embrace the coming of 2014. They enjoyed themselves very much and had a
first-hand experience of Chinese New Year celebration.
Xi’an Mandarin Education School greeted those foreign friends with traditional
Spring-festival gifts such as Chinese knots, couplets, poster of “Fu” character,
paper-cuts and red envelopes. We also extended our festival wishes to them. During
that party, a variety of activities like games, first-hand experiences and DIY left us
with memorable moments. Foreign friends lived through an authentic Spring Festival
in cheerful moods. They learned to sing Chinese songs, gave wishes to each other and
welcomed the coming of the Chinese New Year.
Teachers from Xi’an Mandarin Education School and foreign friends had a wonderful
and hilarious afternoon. This orientation party really impressed our guests from afar.
In addition, they got a better understanding about Chinese traditional culture.
Furthermore, this party was like a bridge bringing together people from different
nations, which facilitated cultural interactions among them.
It is said that Xi’an Mandarin Education School will continue to hold monthly theme
activities in 2014. Those activities will center around Chinese traditional culture with
an aim to allure more foreign friends who are enthusiastic about Chinese culture.
Then people could exchange with each other about specific national cultures and
deepen their mutual understanding.
