Something about 《Hiroshima》If American army did not throw the atomic bombs to Japan, the war would go on, and a huge damage would be made. But we couldn’t ignore the effect on Japanese. They suffered from physical and mental hurt. Their homes, their families, all the things they possessed that had lost in a short time.
We all know that the atomic bomb explosion is powerful. The fact that they couldn’t avoid injuries and death.“This atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, as a direct result, some 60000 Japanese men, women, and children were killed, and 100000 injured; and almost the whole of a great seaport, a city of 250000 people, was destroyed by blast or by fire.” From this statistic, we can imagine how powerful atomic bomb is! As this small island nation, these mass casualties had been a huge blow.
A hundred thousand people were killed by the atomic bomb, and fortunately, there were six survivors. This book introduced those six survivors’experiences. Of course, these experiences stick in their minds, nothing can erase these memories.
There is a section of this book. “Mr. Tanimoto came
across a twenty-year-old girl. She was crouching on the ground with the body of her infant daughter in her arms. The baby had evidently been dead all day.” He knew that her husband could not be found, but she still stood there to wait for her husband. And she asked the Mr. Tanimoto to try to locate her husband, he wanted to humor her, and told her that he would try. And she did not forget that her husband loved their child very much, and she wanted him to see their daughter once more. Her husband disappeared and crueler is her child’s death. This war made her become a widow and destroyed her happy family. This kind of love is moved. Maybe her husband and child are her whole world, but the cruel war made this happy family broken up. I am deeply moved by her action. I am sure this love can continue. The war is heartless, but there is still pure love among these people. The greatest love in the world is maternal love. If her were a mother, I also could not stand the hurt and become very sad. But the young mother had a strong heart. She was also loyal to her husband still waiting for his return. All these are because love and responsibility.
There is another strong expression in my mind. Mr.
Fukai was injured and he required Father Kleinsorg to leave him here to die, but Father Kleinsorg did not. He put Mr. Fukai in a safe area. Father Kleinsorg said a word that made me very impressive. He said that they had lost all their possession but not their sense of humor. I think the Japanese thinks much of the ties of friendship. Their responsibilities to their friends always exist. They don not leave their friends although there is death they will face. And the persistence is one of the qualities the Japanese have. Whatever the bad situation happens, they all show calm, not the hurry and confusion instead. Their possessions were lost, but their optimistic attitude still was there. Nothing can change the optimism towards the disaster. The precious quality is worth of every nation learning. No matter what the problems we will meet, we all should calm down and always keep an optimistic heart. Never give up easily. It is very important for us to have a good taste of mind to life.
From this book I learn so much. I am moved by their deep friendship. I am amazed at their courage and living belief. I appreciate their optimism and their calm state of mind. The war can destroy the houses and economics and
so on, but it can not deny the love between everyone. We all hope to have a peaceful world, no war, no threat. The government needs to take responsibility for every citizen.。
