There’s no denying that Animal Farm is a great prophetic book with profound significance, as the described phenomenon successively happened in innumerable countries during the last century.Upon finishing the book, I can’t help thinking about the big question for human beings- what leads to the animal farm’s tragedy, or to be more explicit, what is the contributor to the failure of the unprecedented experiment of democracy?From my perspective, the most formidable enemy of the democracy is dictatorship. In the book, Napoleon defeat his political opponent, Snowball, by scheming plots. Then the dark era of his dictatorship dawns. As far as I’m concerned, dictatorship is an inevitable huge stone on the path leading to democracy. In Nazi times, Hitler reigned over almost the whole European and resorted to tyranny, but his dictatorship was doomed to death. To avert such crisis , it is imperative for the government to set up a supervisory system as lack of supervision is undoubtedly a trigger to it.Additionally, exploitation play a central part in the tragedy. The blindly faithful animals are dedicated to the farm pursuing a better life with ample food, but the sweet dream is shattered as they end up in poverty or even death. On the contrary, Napoleon lives a luxurious life which reminds me of the sharp comparison between the landlord and farmer classes in feudal society. Unfortunately, those oppressed animals even don’t perceive their situation, because Napoleon disguise himself as a revolutioner on behalf of the masses. And so it is with the FOXCONN’s suicide case. The bloody and brutal exploitation lies under the veil of a fabulous promise-high pay for extra working hour. And people don’t realize it until the irrevocable tragedy happens.Furthermore, the notorious corruption matters in the case. As Acton put it,”power tends to corruption, absolute power corrupts absolutely.” when Napoleon becomes the leader of the farm, he betrays his claimed seven commandments day by day and converts to a disciple of posy life at the price of others’ unbearable labor. This kind of switch is not uncommon today while the most exemplary one occurs in the governmental system. Even though some of the civil servants are righteous as a green hand, they may be quickly assimilated by the corrupt system for everyone mustcomply with the life principle in order to survive and rise.Last but not least, it is ignorance and folly that plant the seed of the tragedy. Whenever a social change happens, there must be a great man with foresight who can wake the ignorant masses in the total darkness, just like Marx. However, Napoleon takes the obscurantism to stable and prolong his governess. What makes matters worse is that the animals just obtain physiological needs, so they can hardly jump to the advanced stage-having self-consciousness, to fight for their deserved equal rights.A thought-provoking lesson we can benefit from here is that raising one’s self-awareness is of great significance to propel the democratic development, and education is the key to it. Once being well-educated and erudite, one can have an enormous ego and pluck up courage to talk out one’s own inner voice, which will do a big favor to better the governmental system and in turn benefit oneself.To look at the book in a different light, it is a primer of democracy and can kindle a fire of freedom and self-awareness in one’s heart.05140309朱歆琦。

In the novel, the author use vivid words to depict the insurgence in manor farm and the process from original peace and happiness to a serious class society.After reading this novel, I think the rebellion of animals symbolizes the revolution of Soviet Union and all the animals in the novel represent the proletariat(无产阶级)human beings represent the bourgeoisie（资产阶级）.the success of these animals is the symbol of success of proletariat in soviet. At the end of the story, the pigs dominated the farm and the farm ultimately becomes a autocratic class society, which actually satires the corruption of the governors in soviet and their life in the farm after the revolution. Their plan of moving toward socialism and communism is totally a lie. On the contrary, under their autocratic governance, the poor workers live a poorer life just like the novel said: the animals in animal farm had no enough food and freedom. And they must work even much longer than the time of Jones. So, the so-called socialism of soviet has not only advantages, but also has its disadvantages.In this novel, there are several typical characters. The first one is the pig "Napoleon", personally, he is a selfish, greedy and ambitious pig,he can not endure snowball to share power with him, and so he expelled and opposed him with every ways. He also killed other animals who opposed and did not support him with the excuse that they had secret contact with their betrayer "snowball". But it's obviously feigned捏造by him. The snowball, uttered a high-pitched whimper of a kind no one had ever heart him utter before." and "the other animals noticed that they wagged their tails to napoleon in the same way as the other dogs had used to do to Mr. Jones." vividly depict his haughtiness and intensive ambitiousness, it also reflects napoleon's bourgeoisie's look and the slavishness of those dogs. What's more, the sentence “he pissed the blue print of snowball's plan for windmill." also describes his rudeness and crankiness狂妄. Napoleon and other pigs are lazy and greedy, they think themselves are more noble and distinguished than other animals, and they have priorities for everything. So they do not work but just enjoy other animals’ labor fruits. But actually, they are not only noble, but even more inferior to other animals. They sleep on human's bed, drink human's wine, wear human's clothing, and walk with two legs like human, trade with human beings, which all violate the seven commandments they came up with to forbid everything related to human beings. The most ridiculous thing is that they said" they never want to fight against human and all the past things are just misunderstandings. They said human are their enemy, but now, theyeven became friends, they are absolutely hypocrites. Besides, this paragraph “twelve voices were shouting in anger, and they were all alike. The creatures outside look from pig to man, and from man to pig, and from pig to man again; but already it was impossible to say which was which." also intensively satires the pigs' filthy looks.The second one is the horse "boxer", he is doubtless not only a loyal horse, but also an ignorant and blind horse. He just slavishly followed his leader but almost never asked why no matter what his leader did. His maxims are "I'll work harder "and "napoleon is always right", so he always worked hard from morning to night, always at the spot where the work was hardest. And until his retirement, he still worked as youth; ultimately, he worked to death without enjoying any happiness and getting any payment. But at this time, the leader he always respect had already decided to sold him to butchery for money. We can say, his fate is pitiful and woeful, but his benighted personality already decided his lamentable ending.The third one is the old donkey" Benjamin", actually, he is a wise and sensible donkey, although he never expressed any opinion about the life now and in the time of Mr. Jones, he was aware of everything. He knew that he was not able to resist napoleon and his followers by himself, so he just usually did what he should do and kept silence because he understand that this is the only way to protect himself.The last one is another pig" squealer", he is totally a flunky of napoleon. He is a excellent speaker, when he was explaining a difficult problem, he was always skipping from side to side and whisking his tail which was somehow very persuasive. Every time when napoleon did something opposed seven commandments, he would always have his reasons to convince other animals that napoleon was right and all what he did were totally for them. His every action and word is disgusting and ridiculous, and he is a absolutely slave and flunky.In my opinion, this novel is very good, the plot is very attractive and impressive, after reading this story, i think, everyone will be angry with those pigs and feel shocked and ridiculous about their change from victim to persecutor and exploiter.。

animal farm读后感英文版加中文读《动物庄园》是因为朋友的推荐，现在依然记得当时她刚读完时候的表情，尤其激动地说“pigs are on their legs!". 以前未听说的这本书，听她这么说，还以为是一部动物成功反抗人类压迫，并最终过上幸福生活的“圆满喜剧”。

直到自己读完原著，估计只剩下感慨了。

朋友说这本书是讽刺当时的苏联的，书固然和当时的社会背景有着紧密的联系，但我还未细查当时情形，就迫不及待的想说说书中字里行间的故事。

第一，书中的故事估计可以看做一部完成的朝代更替史了，受人压迫的动物反压迫，将动物的命运从人的手中夺回来，本以为从此可以掌握自己的命运，但这场所谓的”革命“只不过是一个压迫者打败了另一个压迫者，通过不同的手段更加残忍的压迫自己的同胞，正如书中最后所说的”it was impossible to say which was which",猪和人外形固然不同，但他们作为统治者压迫下层的本质如出一辙。

第二，反抗者最初的意图可能是为了所谓大家的“equality"，一旦反抗者成为统治者，手握大权，极有可能会成为自己所推翻的统治者，极力寻求特权，设定阶级，书中pigs的待遇完全就是统治阶级贵族的待遇。

并且动物庄园的Napoleon同样是极力模仿自己的压迫者，在床上睡觉，穿衣服，酗酒...甚至是像人类一样直立行走。

Napoleon完全超越了自己的压迫者，靠一串串的谎言和武力，诱骗和威胁动物庄园的动物为猪这一特权阶层工作，完全榨干动物们的最后一点剩余价值，如在Boxer奋力工作病倒后，Napoleon竟然将它卖给屠夫换钱买酒喝。

第三，普通动物的愚昧给了Napoleon欺骗玩弄他们的机会。

书中猪是智力劳动着，识字，所有的规则由以Napoleon为首的猪制定，动物庄园的劳动由猪来分配给各个动物，但猪没有体力性的工作，它们监督其他动物工作，享受劳动的最终成果。

Should the this essay be totally gibberish ,i would beg your forgiveness.First ,i want to talk something about old Major.Without him ,it is impossible for other animals to come to reason and give rise to rebellion. His remark “Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy.Whatever goes upon four legs ,or has wings ,is a friend.” is really incisive.However,i guess ,if Major were to have a chance to see what his juniority Napoleon has done,he would be infuriated and become an angry ghost,then end Napoleon’s ignoble life immediately.As to Napoleon,well,i should say,it’s the most odious pig that i have met . My anger becomes stronger and stronger as my understanding towards him becomes deeper and deeper. He is that kind of pig who is extremely clever but just wouldn’t use his intelligence correctly. He is that kind of pig who confuses right and wrong. He is that king of pig who couldn’t bear others’ talent. He is perfectly good at speaking one way before animal and doing another way behind animal.He is the quintessence of breaking words. However, there is no denying that he is extremely farsighted. He knows his ambition from the very beginning day that he wants to be the leader,the only leader of the farm. Considering snowball’s intelligence and eloquence,he sees darken hope to be the only leader. His cunning tells him ------He has to resorted extremes.So a pack of swashbuckling dogs who have blind loyalty were fostered.A flock of stupid sheet were cultivated.Frankly speaking ,i am really interested in the end of Napoleon. Never will i be happy should i hear that our great Napoleon dies peacefully in his sweet dream.In the end ,i want to express my admiration for George Orwell.His vivid and vigorous descriptions really impress me a lot.And i want to share my favorite sentences with you:1.One day,however,he arrived unexpectedly to examine the plans,He walkedheavily around the shed,looked closely at every detail of the plans and snuffed at them once or twice,then stood for a little while contemplating them out of the corner of his eyes;then suddenly he lifted his legs ,urinated over the plans ,and walked out without uttering a word.(ME:What a jerk!)2.But just at this moment Napoleon stood up and ,casting a peculiar sidelong look at Snowball ,uttered a high-pitched whimper of a kind no one had ever heard him utter before.(To tell you the truth,i was really amused by that “peculiar sidelong look.”)。
