1 Daily Report 2014/5/19-5/20 Monday-Tuesday
These two days, I study the Glass process and inspection in HanHe Glass Technology Co., LTD. Glass production process is a new field to me. Below is my Learning report:
1. The production process of Glass We learned the production process of Glass in ZhenHua Glass factory.
1) Heat the raw material in the tank furnace
The raw material of Glass is “SiO2”, we also call it “quartz”. We pour the raw material into the tank furnace, and heat the tank furnace to about 1500 Celsius degrees. We will find that the raw material change from the solid state to the liquid state. 2) Production Glass methods The existing Manufacturing techniques: mouth blow/machine blow, machine press, centrifuge molding, etc. the Machine press can product the uniform thickness glass, it is its advantage. The raw material of all the molds is Nodular Cast iron. 2
We only can see the machine press and the centrifuge molding in ZhenHua factory, after these two processes, the temperature of the glass will decrease to about 700℃. If the temperature less than 400℃-500℃, the glass would be break. The machine press: Get out the liquid raw material from the tank furnaceDip into the white powder (if need the Milky Scavo Bell, see figure 1)Pour the raw material into the mold, and cut the raw material, then press (see figure 2)Burning the edge burrs (see figure 3 & 4)Put the semi-product on the conveyor.
In the figure 2, we can see 6 set pressing molds for improving the capacity, so they can’t start for a small order. The centrifuge molding Get out the liquid raw material from the tank furnace Pour the raw material into the centrifuge machine, and cut the raw material, then press (see figure 2) Burning the edge burrs (see figure 3)Put the semi-product on the conveyor. 3
3) Tempering and QC check We need slowly decrease the temperature through tempering device. The temperature decrease from 450℃ to 350℃, from 350℃ to 250℃, from 250℃ to 150℃, and so on.
Then the QC need check the appearance of the glass, such as air bubbles, scratch, sharp edges, deform, tooling mark, broken.
4) Drilling the holes We need send the glass to drilling the fitter hole.
5) Process glass methods We have below surface process methods: acid pickling, electroplating, artificial carving, golden edge, decal, frosted, sandblasting, etc. 4
We only can see the acid pickling in ZhenHua factory, they use the hydrofluoric acid for this process. 6) Drying At last, they need send the glass into the drying oven. They input the warm air by the hairdryer.
7) Packaging and send to HanHe factory 8) Packaging in HanHe side Checking the appearance of glass. Labeling: As usual, we attach the label on the inner surface; but to the painting glass, we attach the label on the outer surface, such as 81310 and 81311.
Stacking 2pcs glasses, need add paper card between two glasses. 5
Put 3 stacks into the display box, and put a paper card between each 2 stacks. Attach a fixed paper card and put it into a small box.
Pack the small box and put 4 boxes in to a master carton. 2. The Glass product quality standards and requirements 1) Counting and samples The product should be no less than the 95% we ordered. Otherwise, inspection could 6
not be conducted. We take the 8106608 as an example, the order quality is 6288. According to the Westinghouse standard, we need choose 32pcs for checking.
2) The Requirements of Glass Dimension and Spec We need to check the dimension of glass fitter, height and diameter. The information of glass fitter shown on catalogue is the size of glass holder inner diameter, so the glass fitter size should be less than this size. Generally, the size should be 1/8” less than the fitter size shown on catalogue. Such as F2-1/4”, that request glass neck outer diameter should be 2-1/8”~2-1/4”. We need to check it with ceramic socket with threads. And the glass should be checked with both screw & ring type metal holders.
Check the glass height, diameter and thickness. To the glass with center hole, the hole cannot departure the glass center over 2mm, as it could make the glass installed tilt.
