A Great Dog Story-B
Dogs are our faithful friends and family members as well as pets. Be good to
them and love them as they will love you, too. Here is a moving story about a
loving dog.

Anyone who has pets will really like this. You'll like it even if you don't and you
may even think or decide you need one! Mary and her husband Jim has a dog
named 'Lucky.' Lucky is special. Whenever Mary and Jim have friends come for a
weekend visit, they will tell their friends not to leave their luggage open, because
Lucky will help himself to anything that makes him interested. But there is always
someone who will forget to do so and something will become missing.
Mary or Jim will go to Lucky's toy box in the basement and the treasure will be
hidden there, in the middle of all of Lucky's other favorite toys. Lucky always puts
his treasures in his toy box and it is so strange that his toys are always staying in the
box.
Unluckily, Mary finds out she has breast cancer. It means that she is going to die of
this disease. In fact, she is just sure it is fatal.
She is going to have an operation on her breasts, to have them cut out, feeling sad
and frightened. The night before she is to go to the hospital, she stays with Lucky. A
thought strikes her---what will happen to Lucky? Although the three-year-old dog
likes Jim, he is Mary's dog, in fact. If I die, Lucky will be given away, Mary thinks.
He won't understand that I don’t want to leave him. The thought makes her sadder
than thinking of her own death.
Mary has had the operation, staying in the hospital for over two weeks. Jim takes
Lucky for his evening walk faithfully, but the little dog just feels unhappy, sometimes
seeming to be crying.
Finally the day comes for Mary to leave the hospital. When she arrives home,
Mary is so tired that she can't even walk upstairs to her bedroom. Jim makes his wife
comfortable on the couch and leaves her to have a short sleep. Lucky is standing all
the time, watching Mary but he doesn't come to her when she calls him. It has made
Mary sad but sleep soon overcomes her and she falls asleep.
When Mary wakes later, she can't understand what is wrong. She can't move her
head and her body feels very heavy and hot. But fear soon gives way to laughter
when Mary realizes the problem. She is covered with every treasure Lucky owns!
While she is sleeping, the sorrowing dog has made trip after trip to the basement
bringing his beloved Miss all his favorite things in life. He has covered her with his
love.
Mary has forgotten about dying. Instead she and Lucky begin living again,
walking further and further together every day. It's been 12 years now and Mary is
still cancer-free. Lucky? He still steals treasures and places them in his toy box but
Mary remains his greatest treasure.
Remember.... live every day to the fullest. Each minute is a blessing from God.
And never forget.... the people who make a difference in our lives are not the ones
with the most money, or the most awards They are the ones that care for us.
If you see someone without a smile today, give them one of yours! Live simply.
Love seriously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.
A small request: All you are asked to do is keep this circulating even if it's to one
more person. In memory of anyone you know that has been struck down by cancer or
is still living with it.
Dear God, I pray for the cure of cancer. Amen
