Nov 18, 2008 Deareditor,

I'm writing to complain about the poor service of XinhuaBookstore where I bought an English Dictionary. The main complains involve thequality of the dictionary and the attitude of the salesclerk.

Last Sunday morning I went to Xinhua Bookstore and boughtthe dictionary in a hurry. When I went home and read carefully, I found someproblems. For example, some pages in the dictionary are too poor in printing tobe recognized. Besides, the binding is also so careless that some pages are inwrong order or even missing. What is worse, when I went back to the store toask for a return, the salesclerk turned down my request rudely. He even refusedto change another copy for me just because I have opened it. It is really thetime to deal with the problem.

In short, I do hope that your newspaper can do somethingto appeal to the improvement of service quality and attitude in some serviceindustries.

June 19, 2008 DearSir/Madam,

I'm writing to express my dissatisfaction with the poorservice of Xinhua Bookstore. Last Wednesday I bought an English-Chinesedictionary there. The next day when I used the dictionary I found the notesunder several word entries are illegible.

Then I went back to the bookstore, asking for anexchange. At first, it seemed that the shop assistant who received thedictionary did not get my words.After my repeating several times, hereluctantly went away, trying to get a new one for me. Several minutes later,he was back

empty-handed, for which he explained that there was no copy left inthe store. Therefore, I requested him to contact the Publishing House arrangingto replace the dictionary with another one. To my surprise, he said it was notup to him. If I wanted the replacement, I had to contact the Publishing Housemyself. On hearing it, I became annoyed and told him what I wanted then was arefund. Unexpectedly, he gave me a flat refusal and I left the store furiously.

As far as I know, this is the present situation inservice trade. Something has to be done to change the situation. In the longrun, the poor service will destroy the reputation in service trade, and evenaffect the whole economy in our country. So it is high time that those workingin the lines changed their attitude toward customers and practiced the serviceconcept in their daily work to improve the development of service industry.
