Yong took a major course from me, in which he always showed up as the first comer
and never skipped a class. Whenever I looked around, Yong was sitting in the first
row of the classroom and listening to me carefully. In the group discussion, he
volunteered himself to be leader of his team and was articulate and persuasive in
presenting his group work before the whole class. His great effort was paid off by
ranking 4th among his grade in the final examination. I was deeply impressed by his
academic excellence, offering him a chance to join my research team.

After his participation, I began to tutor him on research approaches. I can still
remember that summer vacation when Yong stayed in the university and handed in
my assignments perfectly once two weeks. His studying report concisely described his
research progress and put forward some inspiring ideas. From his report, I discovered
that this young man possessed excellent critical thinking and logical reasoning ability.
In some informal conversations, he mentioned his passion for studying financial
related courses in the future. Then I introduced financial mathematics to him because
his analytical mind was definitely what this subject expected of its learners. He, after
serious consideration, accepted my suggestion and decided to move forward in the
way of financial studies.

Yong’s research ability is fully displayed in his involvement in the academic article --
Design and Implementation of an MPC System with Model Error Detection. He
undertook the tasks of data analysis and collection. With outstanding computer skills,
Yong did a perfect job, winning commendation from other partners. I acknowledge
his great research ability and his contribution to our research team. In order to succeed
in final thesis writing, he discussed with me on his thesis topic for many times. As his
graduate project supervisor, I agree on his selected topic—Research and Development
of Financial Product Transaction Platform. During the past weeks, he absorbed in the
related books and prepared for this research.
