THE INITIAL AWF RESPONSE TO THE QUESTIONNAIRE ON THE SERVICES AND MARKET FOR THE FUTURE DEVELOPMENT OF IMT-2000 AND SYSTEMS BEYOND IMT-2000
1. Introduction 介绍 In section 2, APT initial response to “the Questionnaire on the services and market for the future development of IMT-2000 and systems beyond IMT-2000” is shown. This is the initial and provisional response. AWF plans to prepare its final response by the ITU-R WP8F deadline, the end of April 2005.
Q1. Services and Market survey for existing mobile services Regarding 2G and 3G mobile communication Services and Market, including mobile satellite and wireless LAN services, please list information on the following parameters as they existed at the end of 2003.
See Annex 1. Annex 1 includes the information provided to AWF from two countries. Q2. Key Market parameters The market size of the future development of IMT-2000 and systems beyond IMT-2000 can be estimated from parameters such as density of potential users, call/session duration, service bandwidth and so forth. It is also necessary for the market size estimation to take account of key issues such as services usage and usage environments. Please list the key parameters and issues you consider necessary for the market size estimation, and comment on the impact of each parameter and issue on the market.
AWF has made up the list of services and applications based on key market parameters based on the following guidelines.
A2-1: Key parameters List parameters to be utilized for estimation of traffic volume in the future development of IMT-2000 and systems beyond IMT-2000. The parameters correspond to those for calculation of spectrum according to Methodology Recommendation.
A2-2: Key issues AWF-IM1/06 Page 2 of 31 List related issues to be considered in estimation of traffic volume in the future development of IMT-2000 and systems beyond IMT-2000, which seem difficult to provide as quantitative values.
A2-3: Minimum set of the parameters for market size estimation Select a set of the above parameters that are essential for estimation of market size. The selected parameters are considered very influential in the market size estimation.
A2-4: Comments on the listed parameters and issues Provide additional information regarding the above parameters and issues. The information includes the necessity for spectrum estimation, the difficulty in quantitative forecast, interrelationship of the parameters and the issues.
Key parameters identified in AWF are as follows. Further studies required to investigate the relation among those key parameters.
1. Number of mobile subscribers 2. Average Call duration/Session duration in busy hour 3. Average Call/Session arrival rate in busy hour 4. Symmetric/asymmetric characteristics 5. Mobile Subscriber Density 6. Service Categorization 6.1 Traffic class - Constant Bit Rate (CBR) - Variable Bit Rate (VBR) - rtVBR (real-time VBR) - nrtVBR (non real-time VBR) - Unspecified Bit Rate (UBR) 6.2. Services Type and their peak bit rates - Very low rate Data < 16 kbit/s - Low rate Data and Low Multimedia < 144 kbit/s - Medium multimedia < 2 Mbit/s - High multimedia < 30 Mbit/s - Super high multimedia 30 Mbit/s to 100 Mbit/s/1 Gbit/s 7. Service environments 7.1 Service usage pattern - Home - Office - Public area 7.2 Teledensity - Dense Urban - Sub-urban - Rural
A2-5: Typical applications and their relations with key market parameters Typical applications should be identified for key market parameters for estimation of traffic, in this section, such typical applications are shown.
1. Service type and typical applications
