Kids across the US did more than collecting sweet treats this
Halloween.they helped needy children around

symbol of the annual Trick-or-Treat for United Nations Children’s Fund.
More than two million children nationwide took part in it.

Trick-or-Treat for UNICEFturns 60 this year. It got its start with family in
Pennsylvania,in 1950. The year before, shortly after Halloween,Mary
Emma Allisin and her three children were shopping in downtown
Philadelphia when they came upon a UNICEF parade. A banner caught
Allison’s eye. It read,”One cent will buy 20 glasses of milk.”This gave
Allison an idea. Instead of just collecting candy on Halloween,why not do
something good and collet money for UNICEF,too? The following
Halloween,the Allison family,their neighbors and their friends went
door-to-door with milk boxes,collecting spare change to send to UNICEF.
Trick-to-Treat for UNICEF was born.

Today,the annual Halloween drive has raised over $160 million for UNICEF
programs in more than 150 countries and places.

120 middle school students from 35 countries will attend the final of an
international Chinese language contest,held in southwest China's
Chongqing.

These students,aged from 15 to 20,must be from foreign countries and not
native Chinese speakers,said a contest organizer. All of the students have
passed the contest held in their own countries.

According to the organizer,the competition will have a top prize,five second
prizes,10 third prizes and a dozen prizes for special talents. The organizer
