LinkIQ™ Cable+Network TesterThe LinkIQ™ Cable+Network Tester is the testing solution to verify cable performance up to 10 Gb/s and solve network connectivity problems. LinkIQ validates cable performance using frequency-based measurements and a wire map of the cable under test. The LinkIQ also performs ping tests to verify connectivity and nearest switch diagnostics to identify key network issues and validate switch configuration - eliminating the need for another device. Additional features include Analog and Digital Toning, Port Blink, Remote Office Locators, and the ability to manage results via LinkWare™ PC.Cable Testing You TrustThe LinkIQ™ is capable of measuring lengths up to 1000 feet (305 m) and provides distance to faults such as opens, shorts, and unterminated cable. Using the remote ID allows for a complete wire map of the cable pairs which helps identify miswired and split pairs. The primary cable testing feature of LinkIQ™ is the cable performance test which qualifies the cabling bandwidth from 10BASE-T to 10GBASE-T (10 Mb/s up to 10 Gb/s). It performs these tests via frequency-based measurements. Using IEEE-standards-based measurements ensures that tested links meet performance requirements as opposed to transmission testers which only prove that the specific test devices can communicate over the link.Operators may set performance requirements from 10 Mb/s to 10 Gb/s for a simple pass/fail indication.Cable test without remote attached shows length and pairing of each wireCable test with remote attached shows remote ID number 5, length and pairing of each wire and cable performance of up to 10 Gb/sCable test with remote attached shows remote ID number 1, length and pairing of each wire and cable performance of up to 2.5 Gb/s but failed the test due to auser-set limit of 10 Gb/s performance.Network Testing You NeedAlong with the robust cable testing features, the LinkIQ™ also provides detailed information on the nearest connected switch and connectivity testing with IP ping. The LinkIQ™ negotiates with the switch to identify the advertised data rate (up to 10GBASE-T), half/full duplex identification, the switch name and IPaddress, port number, and VLAN info.Switch port test shows switch name and IP address, connected port, and VLAN along with advertised speed and duplex settings. If a ping test is configured, the target address and average response time are shown. Scrolling down shows Power over Ethernet results. The ping test verifies connectivity to devices on the local network or the internet and supports both IPv4 and v6. The LinkIQ’s address may be set up manually or through DHCP. Once set up, the ping test is run as part of the Autotest when a switch is detected. Results of the ping test include identification and responsetime of each of four pings to the target, the DNS server and gateway.Ping result screen shows response time to target for each of four pings. Scrolling down displays DHCP, DNS and gateway information.In-Depth PoE TestingWhile Power over Ethernet makes installation of devices such as security cameras and access points simpler, a survey by the Ethernet Alliance of over 800 installers, integrators and end users found that four of five respondents experienced difficulties in integrating PoE systems. Part of this can be traced to the fact that the IEEE offers three PoE standards, the term “PoE” is not registered and there are a variety of non-standards-compliant implementations as well.Switch port Power over Ethernet result shows pairs used, power and class available and results of the PoE test under load.To simplify PoE installation and troubleshooting, the LinkIQ displays the pairs where power is provided, including the different power levels and pairs for dual-signature implementations. Further, the LinkIQ will actually place a load on the connection to ensure that the advertised power is actually being delivered by the switch across the cabling infrastructure. The LinkIQ has been certified by the Ethernet Alliance to IEEE-802.3™ standards for reliable multivendor interoperability.LinkWare™ DocumentationThe LinkIQ provides complete documentation abilities for the tests it performs. Up to 1,000 results can be stored in the tester with descriptive names and recalled. Test names and numbers automatically increment as each is saved (“Annex B-1”, “Annex B-2”, “Annex B-3”, etc.) saving lots of time when testing cables in sequence.Report data may be exported to a PC for documentation purposes. The LinkIQ uses LinkWare™ PC, Fluke Networks’ reporting software which supports a variety of testers going back 20 years and is the industry’s de facto reporting solution with tens of thousands of active users. LinkWare can be used to store the results as well as generate PDF reports.Use LinkWare PC to generate PDF test reports.LIQ-100 includes LinkIQ mainframe and accessories. LinkIQ™ Feature Breakout1. Simply select the unit to be tested and choose whether you want traffic to be looped back via Smart Loopback or Dual Test Set for simultaneous bidirectional EtherSAM and RFC 2544 results. No more need for an additional technician at the far end to relay critical information—the NetBlazer products take care of it all.Smart Loopback FlexibilityThe Smart Loopback functionality has been enhanced to offer five distinct loopback modes. Whether you are looking to pinpoint loopback traffic from a UDP or TCP layer, or all the way down to a completely promiscuous mode (Transparent Loopback mode), NetBlazer has the flexibility to adjust for all unique loopback situations.Global Pass/Fail AnalysisThe NetBlazer series provides real-time pass/fail status via text or icons. Clicking on the pass/fail indicator maximizes this important status to full screen, providing instant, easily understood notification whether the unit is in the technician’s hands or across the room.Remembering the Last IP or MAC AddressesField technicians have enough things to worry about and don’t always have the luxury of time to enter the same IP or MAC address test after test. The NetBlazer series remembers the last 10 MAC, IPv4 and IPv6 addresses as well as J0/J1 traces for 10G WAN, even afterthe unit has been rebooted.Traffic GenerationUnparalleled analog visual gauges combined with user-defined thresholds show instantaneously whether or not the test traffic is in or out of expected ranges.Additionally, bandwidth and frame size can be modified on-the-fly without navigating away to a different page, giving technicians instantaneous reaction on the gauges. Traffic generation brings together over 10 critical stats in a very visual and organizedfashion, ensuring that technicians can quickly and easily interpret the outcome of the test. The analog gauges are lined with Green and Red layers to represent the expected thresholds.Real-time bandwidth and frame-size adjustment.Overall pass/fail assessment.Throughput, jitter and latency with visual pass/fail thresholds, analog gauges and digitalreadouts.Frame loss and out-of-sequence notification.Multistream ConfigurationConfiguring multiple streams with proper COS and QOS bits can be a complex task. NetBlazer makes it simpler, with all streams easily selectable and configurable from one location. With large icons located throughout the stream pages, configuration becomes as simple as a touch of a finger. Technicians can define one configuration profile and apply it to all the background streams simultaneously. From there, it is just a matter of making slight tweaks as needed rather than complete configuration profiles per stream.Through ModeThrough mode testing consists of passing traffic through either of the NetBlazer’s two 100/1000 Base-X ports or the two 10/100/1000 Base-T ports for in-service troubleshooting of live traffic between the carrier/service provider network and the customer network. Through mode allows technicians to access circuits under test without the need for a splitter.Supporting 10 Gigabit EthernetThe 10 G igabit Ethernet interface is available in both 10 G igE LAN and 10 G igE WAN modes via a single SFP+ transceiver. All Ethernet testing applications—from BER testing to the full EtherSAM suite—are available for both IPv4 and IPv6. Unique to the 10 GigE WAN interface is the ability to send and monitor SONET/SDH J0/J1 traces and the path signal label (C2). The WAN interface can also monitor SONET and SDH alarms and errors.E THER SAM: THE NEW STANDARD IN ETHERNET TESTINGUntil now, RFC 2544 has been the most widely used Ethernet testing methodology. However it was designed for network device testing in the lab, not for service testing in the field. ITU-T Y.156sam is the newly introduced draft standard for turning up and troubleshooting carrier Ethernet services. It has a number of advantages over RFC 2544, including validation of critical SLA criteria such as packet jitter and QoS measurements. This methodology is also significantly faster, therefore saving time and resources while optimizing QoS.EXFO’s EtherSAM test suite—based on the draft ITU-T Y.156sam Ethernet service activation methodology—provides comprehensive field testing for mobile backhaul and commercial services.Contrary to other methodologies, EtherSAM supports new multiservice offerings. It can simulate all types of services that will run on the network and simultaneously qualify all key SLA parameters for each of these services. Moreover, it validates the QoS mechanisms provisioned in the network to prioritize the different service types, resulting in better troubleshooting, more accurate validation and much faster deployment. EtherSAM is comprised of two phases, the network configuration test and the service test.Network Configuration TestThe network configuration test consists of sequentially testing each service. It validates that the service is properly provisioned and that all specific KPIs or SLA parameters are met.Service TestOnce the configuration of each individual service is validated, the service test simultaneously validates the quality of all the services over time.EtherSAM Bidirectional ResultsEXFO’s EtherSAM approach proves even more powerful as it executes the complete ITU-T Y.156sam test with bidirectional measurements. Key SLA parameters are measured independently in each test direction, thus providing 100 % first-time-rightservice activation—the highest level of confidence in service testing.EX PERT TEST TOOLSEXpert Test Tools is a series of platform-based software testing tools that enhance the value of the FTB-1 platform, providing additional testing capabilities without the need for additional modules or units. The EXpert VoIP Test Tools generates a voice-over-IP call directly from the test platform to validateperformance during service turn-up and troubleshooting.›Supports a wide range of signaling protocols, including SIP, SCCP, H.248/Megaco and H.323 ›Supports MOS and R-factor quality metrics› Simplifies testing with configurable pass/fail thresholds and RTP metricsThe EXpert IP Test Tools integrates six commonly used datacom test tools into one platform-based application to ensure field technicians are prepared for a wide-range of testing needs. › Rapidly perform debugging sequences with VLAN scan and LAN discovery› Validate end-to-end ping and traceroute› Verify FTP performance and HTTP availabilityTEST TOOLS IPEXpert TEST TOOLS VoIPOPTICAL INTERFACESTwo ports: 100M and GigEAvailable wavelengths (nm)850, 1310 and 1550100 Base-FX100 Base-LX1000 Base-SX1000 Base-LX1000 Base-ZX1000 Base-BX10-D1000 Base-BX10-USFP+ OPTICAL INTERFACES (10G)10G Base-SR/SW10G Base-LR/LW 10G Base-ER/EW Wavelength (nm)85013101550Tx level (dBm)–5 to –1–8 to 0.5–4.7 to 4.0SPECIFICATIONSELECTRICAL INTERFACESTwo ports: 10/100 Base-T half/full duplex, 1000 Base-T full duplexGENERAL SPECIFICATIONSSize (H x W x D)130 mm x 36 mm x 252 mm (5 1/8 in x 1 7/16 in x 9 15/16 in)Weight (with battery) 0.58 kg (1.3 lb)TemperatureTESTINGEtherSAM (Y.156sam)Network configuration and service test as per ITU-T Y.156sam.
下面我们就40GE/100GE和OTU3/OTU4的新测试要求及测试方法做一介绍。

T HE D RIVE TO 100GThe combination of digital media, personal com-puting, and global networking is creating a radi-cal shift in the telecom industry. The key trend is toward IP fixed/mobile network convergence for the delivery of voice, video, and data applica-tions with IP (and Ethernet) as a common uni-versal platform, fueled by exponential growth of video, gaming, collaboration, and cloud comput-er applications. This trend tremendously stresses the transport backbones, which have been built on 10G wavelengths. This drives the need for upgrades to 40G and 100G.100G Ethernet and optical transport unit 4(OTU4) bring new fundamental concepts, which require new training and new testing. Prior to 100G, market demand was generally following or pushing the process improvement of a technolo-gy, such as the transition from Gigabit Ethernet to 10G Ethernet on a single wavelength. For 100G, however, simple process improvement was not enough; the industry had to think differently.I NDUSTRY S TATUSMultiple standards bodies and industry fora are now collaborating to define and facilitate the broad adoption of 100G technologies, on both the client and line sides. The IEEE 802.3 work-ing group was quick to identify the need for100G back in 2006. Today, the IEEE P802.3ba Task Force’s key objectives include•Support for 40G and 100G medium access control (MAC) data rate•Provide a wide array of physical layer speci-fications•Provide appropriate support for the optical transport network (OTN)In late March 2010, after three and a half years of effort, IEEE P802.3ba draft 3.2 was submitted to the IEEE-SA Standards Board Standards Review Committee (RevCom), with the expecta-tion to be ratified at the RevCom’s June 2010meeting. The technologies brought forward by the IEEE P802.3ba Task Force are being imple-mented — or are already in full production — in routers, DWDM transport equipment, and test and measurement equipment. On the transport side, International Telecom-munication Union — Telecommunication Stan-dardization Sector (ITU-T) Study Group 15(SG-15) has defined the necessary technologies in G.709 (approved in December 2009) to effi-ciently encapsulate 40G and 100G Ethernet pay-load in OTU3 and OTU4, respectively. I n addition to the efforts from standard bodies, a group of transceiver companies (Finisar, Opnext, and Sumitomo [1]) have collaborated to create an agreement on 100G transceiver implementa-tion. On 23 March, 2009, draft 1.0 of the CFP multisource agreement (MSA) was published [2].100G E THERNET :I T I S V ERY D IFFERENTEvery addition to the IEEE 802.3 standard brings increased value by introducing new con-cepts and new technologies, which in turn intro-duce new testing requirements. 40G/100G Ethernet is a vivid example of this; it requires a non-traditional approach since existing technolo-gies cannot provide 100G Ethernet on a single wavelength while efficiently meeting cost, power, and footprint objectives.By thinking differently, IEEE P802.3ba’s approach has been to leverage parallel interfaces throughout [3]. This is likely the most important concept introduced; 4 or 10 parallel wavelengths on the fiber, and 10 parallel electrical interfaces to the host. As an example, 100GBASE-LR4 has 4wavelengths of 25G on the fiber and 10 electrical signals of 10 Gb/s on the host. The ability to mapA BSTRACTThe combination of digital media, personal computing, and global networking is creating a radical shift in the telecom industry. However, the transport backbone, which was built on 10G wavelengths, is nearing capacity and is driving the need for upgrades to 40G and 100G.100G Ethernet and OTU4 bring new funda-mental concepts, which require new training and new testing. 100G Ethernet and OTU4 equip-ment is currently in development or in trial, and the next phase is to deploy this equipment in the field. This article is mostly based on the work done by IEEE P802.3ba and ITU-T Study Group 15 to provide an overview of how 100G Ethernet and OTU4 are different from previous technolo-gies, and includes guidance on which tests need to be performed with these emerging technolo-gies. 112G line side testing is also briefly dis-cussed.Patrick Drolet and Luc Duplessis, EXFO100G Ethernet and OTU4 T estingChallenges: From the Lab to the FieldIEEE P802.3ba was able to address a growing market need and build a strong base that will likely be the foundation for faster speeds to come [9].Most parties expect 100G Ethernet and OTU4 to be very successful technologies. The adoption rates, though, divide many industry experts. Robustness and reliability of 100G equipment will be essential to achieve commer-cial success and accelerated adoption. We believe part of the solution lies in rigorous test-ing of both 100G Ethernet and OTU4; this will lead to easier and faster deployments, and increased confidence in operations.Long-haul transmissions of 112G over a sin-gle wavelength also require thinking different-ly. In this case DP-QPSK is a radical shift, which brings its own set of complexities and new paradigms. Although companies are doing field trials of this remarkable technology, the current testing challenges lie in the absence of measurement standards. Working around this situation requires very flexible test equipment that can evolve while the standard is being defined.R EFERENCES[1] CFP MSA press release, htt p://cf /p ress.html,Mar. 23, 2009[2] CFP MSA Draft 1.0, htt p://www.cf /Docu-ments/CFP-MSA-DRAFT-rev-1-0.p df, March 23rd 2009.[3] IEEE P802.3ba draft 3.2, htt p:///3/ba/p rivate/P8023ba-D32.p df, Mar. 24th, 2010.[4] Gutslin et al., “100/40Ge PMA Pro p osal,” htt p://www./3/ba/p ublic/may08/gustlin_03_0508.p df, May 2008.[5] G.709/Y.1331 (12/09), “Interfaces for the O p tical Trans-p ort Network (OTN)” htt p://www.itu.int/rec/T-REC-G.709/en, Dec. 2009.[6] CFP Management Interface S p ecification Revision 1.2,htt p://cf /Documents/CFP_MSA_Management_ Interface_S p ecification_Draft_1_2_Public_B.p df, Se p t.30, 2009.[7] O p tical Internetworking Forum, “The OIF A pp roves100G Transmitter I m p lementation Agreement,”htt p:///p ublic/p ressroom/100G_Trans-mitter-IAvfinal.p df, Mar. 22, 2010.[8] O p tical Internetworking Forum, “100G Ultra Long HaulDWDM Framework Document,” htt p://www.oiforum.com/p ublic/documents/OIF-FD-100G-DWDM-01.0.p df, June 30, 2009.[9] J.
