语用等效与汉英公示语翻译探析

公示语的语用等效与翻译原则公示语是一种常见于受众生活中的特殊文体。

本文从语用翻译的角度,分析了目前公示语英译中存在的语用语言失误和社交语言失误,探讨了语言和文化在语用等效翻译中的作用,并提出实现公示语语用语言等效和社交语言等效的汉英翻译原则。

公示语是指公开面对公众的告示、指示、提示或警示及其相关的文字与图形信息,被广泛应用于交通设施、旅游景点、商业中心、宾馆饭店、建筑街道、机构企业、购物休闲等场所。

公示语的翻译应遵循语用等效的原则,即同一信息,用两套不同的语言,接受者不同,却要产生基本相同的效果。

翻译恰当的公示语能给外国人在中国的日常工作、生活和出行带来许多便利。

若表达不合适或表达方式不妥、不合目的语习惯等导致交际不能取得效果,就会产生语用失误。

下面笔者将从语用语言等效和社会语言等效两方面来探讨公示语的语用等效翻译。

语用语言等效翻译指不受语言形式的限制,并且最接近于源语,最自然地译出原文的内容,传达原文的信息。

要实现语用语言等效翻译,理解和表达是两个重要的环节,而这两个环节共同指向内容。

如图所示: 原文的理解→内容←译文的表达两种不同的语言形式都要表达相同的内容,接受者才会产生相同的反应。

公示语语用语言失误都是由于在理解或表达上出了问题。

1.对原文的理解汉译英的公示语很少会有原文理解的错误,因为中文是我们的母语。

但错误的译文给人的印象往往是译者没有理解原文的意思。

“小心落水”奉告人们注意安全,不要掉进水里,但是有人竟然把它译成了“Please Mind Falling Water”。

译文不是提醒人们注意不要掉进水里,而是注意正在落下来的水。

标题：从语用翻译学角度看汉公示语英译1)本选题国内外研究的现状公示语是国际化都市、旅游目的地的语言环境和人文环境的重要组成部分。

因此,汉语公示语的英译日趋重要。

但现在在我国各大城市的公示语翻译中存在着参差不齐的错误，对公示语的研究在国内尚在发展完善中，其中吕和方指出了公示语的四种应用功能特征:指示性、提示性、限制性、强制性,分析了公示语的“动态”和“静态”信息,并对公示语独特的语言风格进行了阐述。

王银泉、万正方、金龙等剖析了我国城市公共场所公示语英译中存在的失误现象,提出具体的可行性改进意见,探讨了公示语翻译的方法和规律。

于秋、黄小明认为由于语言和文化的不同,汉语公示语在英译时经常出现语用失效问题,这些问题主要表现在语用语言失误和社交语用失误两方面。

2003年8月,北京第二外国语学院开通了“汉英公示语研究在线”，2004年9月负责主编了《汉英公示语词典》,系统总结了目前的公示语翻译,并成立了“汉英公示语研究课题组”。

2）本选题的意义、重点、难点及创新点意义：现在在我国部分城市的公示语中，由于没有正确把握语用等效的原则,出现了信息偏差、信息错误和信息交际障碍，即语用失误，包含语用语言方面的失误和社交语用方面的失误。

本文拟从语用角度分析在我国部分公示语的翻译问题，通过探讨公示语的语言特点和语用功能,提出公示语的翻译原则和方法。

重点：本选题重在从语用的角度来讨论公示语的翻译，研究在公示语的翻译中应遵循语用等效的原则。

难点：怎样从从语用学翻译的角度来根据关联理论，充分考虑语境，运用语用等效的原则来进行公示语翻译。

创新点：我国现有的研究公示语翻译的论文有很多，但本文提出公示语的翻译应该重视语境的作用,增加关联度,扩大认知环境,以达到语用等效目的。
