Grammar 【副词的比较级、最高级】

与大多数形容词一样，一些副词也有三个等级：原级、比较级和最高级。 2

一、构成 ▲ 单音节和部分双音节的副词在词尾加-er, -est构成比较级和最高级。 如：high →higher→highest等。 ▲ 大部分双音节和多音节的副词在其前面加more, most构成比较级和最高级。如clearly → more clearly → most clearly等。 ▲ 以不发音的字母e结尾的副词在词尾直接加-r, -st构成比较级和最高级。 如：late →later→ latest等。 ▲ 以辅音字母加y结尾的副词，把y变i再加-er, -est。 如：early → earlier → earliest等。 ▲ 少数副词比较等级的变化是不规则的。 如：well → better → best, badly → worse → worst, far → farther / further → farthest / furthest等。

二、句型 ▲ 适用于副词的原级的句型有： 1）“as +原级+ as”表示“一方像另一方一样”。如：He walks as slowly as you do. 2）“not + as / so +原级+ as”表示“一方不如另一方……”。 如：My sister does not run as fast as Liu Mei. ▲副词比较级的句型： 1）“比较级+ than”表示“一方比另一方”。 如： I got up earlier than my mother this morning. 2） “the +比较级，the +比较级”表示 “越……，越……”。如： The earlier you start, the sooner you will be back. 3）“比较级+and+比较级”表示“越来越……”。如： Ye Shiwen swam faster and faster in the women’s 400 metres medley during the London Olympic Games. 4）“who / which …+比较级，A or B?”表示“谁/哪个……，A还是B?”。如： Who do you like better, Ann or Lucy? ▲ 适用于副词的最高级的句型有： 1） “(the) + 最高级+of / in / among …”表示 “在……中，最……”。如： Tom can run the fastest in my school. 2）“who / which …+最高级，A , B or C?”表示“谁/哪个……，A、B还是C？”。 Which season do you like best, spring, summer or autumn？

三、 可用来修饰副词的原级和比较级的单词和短语： 1）常用来修饰副词的原级的有：very, quite, rather, so, too, a little等。 2）常用来修饰副词的比较级的有：much, far, even, rather, a little等。

Writing Our school held a 4-day sports meeting on our school playground last week, from December 10 to December 13. The sports meeting is held every year to encourage students to keep healthy. This year more than 200 students from different classes took part in different events. Other students watched from the stands. The sports meeting began with an exciting opening ceremony. Students from each class marched in the playground. They were all excited and in high spirit. Then, students from each class took part in different events, such as the long jump and the 100-metre race. During the competition, the audience cheered up for the competitors. And some volunteers helped around all the time. After 4 days’ competition, we had the final result. Class One, Grade Eight got more gold medals than any other class and won first place. At the closing ceremony, Mr. Dai, the headmaster, gave out prizes to the winners and gave a speech. Everyone agreed that the sports meeting was a great success, and we are already looking forward to next year’s sports meeting!

The general meaning of Laissez-faire is to allow events to take their own course, or to let people do what they choose. The term is a French phrase literally meaning "let do" or "leave it to be". In economics of the Chicago School, it has become a doctrine that holds that the state should never intervene in the marketplace. The term is often used to refer to various economic philosophies
and political philosophies which seek to minimize or eliminate government intervention in most or all aspects of society.
free trade policy, prices are a reflection of true supply and demand, and are the sole determinant of resource allocation. Free trade differs from other forms of trade policy where the allocation of goods and services amongst trading countries are determined by artificial prices that do not reflect the true nature of supply and demand. These artificial prices are the result of protectionist trade policies, whereby governments intervene in the market through price adjustments and supply restrictions. Interventions include subsidies, taxes and tariffs, non-tariff barriers, such as regulatory legislation and quotas, and even inter-government managed trade agreements such as the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and Central America Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) (contrary to their formal titles) and any governmental market intervention resulting in artificial prices that do not reflect the principles of supply and demand.
