因此，信仰是一种感情，这种感情的力量，就同其他各种感情一样，恰好同激动的程度成正比。
激动的程度有三种。
感觉是心灵获得一切知识的源泉；因而感觉的证据使人产生最强烈的同意。
心灵的判断是建立在我们亲身经验的基础之上的，这种经验来自感觉的源泉；因此，根据经验的判断，在激动的程度上属于第二等。
