2. General properties and supply condition The component forms a single unit with the self-adhesive finish.
3. Characteristics of the bond The bonded joint shall be reliably capable of absorbing the required short-term and long-term loads without creeping or delamination. In addition, the bonded joint shall not be visible more than is necessary for reasons of design and shall not become discoloured as a result of ageing influences. The bonded joint shall have a compensating effect where materials with different coefficients of thermal expansion are joined.

Tests and test methods All tests performed on bonded joints shall be carried out without fail both on the component itself and on the test specimens which offer the same material combinations as the component to be bonded. Tests on components shall be carried out in their installed positions under real load conditions. While the component test only allows an assessment of the occurrence of any delamination or other irreversible changes in the bonded joint, the static shearing force will allow a determination of the adhesive strength and its deterioration as a result of the influence of ageing to be made. Tests in accordance with 4.1, 4.2, 4.4, 4.5 and 4.6 shall be carried out consecutively on a single component. The cold impact test in accordance with 4.3 shall be carried out separately.

5.1 Determination of static shearing force The static shearing force shall be determined in accordance with PB VWL 668, provided that a test specimen suitable for testing can be produced from the component. The bonded test specimens shall be stored for 48 hours under standard atmospheric conditions in accordance with DIN 50 014-23 / 50-2 before determining the static shearing force or before storing the test specimens under the required ageing conditions. The mean value of the shearing force from at least three individual measurements shall be indicated.

1. Application, general requirements Self-adhesive components shall be free of production defects of any type which would impair the appearance and function. The selection of the adhesive tapes and adhesive films shall be based on self-adhesive bonding and general technical requirements for the intended purpose taking into account industrial safety requirements and environmental aspects (also refer to DBLs 8585 and 6714). The materials for the component and self-adhesive finish as well as any necessary activators and primers shall be documented in the ISIR. In addition, the test values required in DBL 7904 for the bonding of components with self-adhesive finish and appropriate substrate shall be listed in the ISIR.
