个人、家庭、社区及学校生活Ⅰ.阅读理解As a kid, Joanna Buckley wasn't interested in science —until she had a chance to try it. That happened when she got a chemistry set for Christmas.“Over the course of a few weeks, I'd completed every experiment. But in the process, I polluted my parent's dining room carpet and burnt the kitchen worktop with the spirit burner,” she says. Now science is Buckley's job. She works in the chemistry department at the University of Sheffield in England. “I realize, firsthand, how important it is to have something or someone to show you why science is so great,” she says. Now the good news is that citizen science appears.Citizen science takes the fun of experimenting a step further than Buckley's athome chemistry kit. That's because these exp eriments are real, looking for novel answers.“Compared with a oneoff experiment, what's cool about citizen science is that students get that this has a purpose,” Prunuske says. “Students want to do a good job, because they know scientists are going to use the new data in their own research.”Long agrees. “Kids like that it's real. And they like that it's important, that it matters.” Citizenscience projects have made big discoveries. One found a previously unknown galaxy cluster (星系团). Another project helped assess how much damage a big earthquake had caused in Japan. And one of the first citizenscience projects helped scientists learn where butterflies go every winter. Some adults worry about teens losing interest in science. That's one reason they hope that fun, exciting citizenscience projects can help them keep in touch, Long says. And she has some evidence that it's working, “Last year, we did have a couple of students say, ‘I really think I want to be a scientist now.’”A.To support trials can make teens interested in science.B.To prove failure is the mother of success in science.C.To state Buckley has a talent for science.D.To praise Buckley for her strong will.解析:选A 推理判断题。

It also leads to a great pay-off. By being truly thankful for all that life provides, a child has more chance of being emotionally, physically and socially successful.“Gratitude(感恩) opens your mind and lets you recognize the goodness in your life,” says Froh, a psychology professor who has conducted eight studies on gratitude over the past three years. According to Froh, a grateful child feels more connected and loved. After all, if he's able to understand that many others care enough to make an effort for him, his life is improved. When older children aged 14 to 19 are able to acknowledge their good fortune, they're more likely to be happy and experience lower levels of depression, envy and selfness. For the past decade, experts like Froh have been conducting “gratitude interventions(干预)”, in which kids are encouraged to do a series of exercises, from writing a thank-you note to reciting it to make a gratitude journal. Overall, the results have been encouraging: just in comparison with adults, it seems that children become more grateful.Yet there remains much to be learned about children and gratitude. There's some evidence suggesting that girls are more grateful than boys. Also, Froh says that while there's not yet any hard data, there's possibility that a child's ability to be grateful depends on his or her age. One study looked at gratitude and life satisfaction in kids aged 3 to 9 and found that only 7- to 9-year-olds followed the example set by their parents in their ability to feel true gratitude. Most 3- to 6-year-olds don't have the emotional development to see outside themselves enough to be truly grateful. So how do people apply these newfound scientific findings? Froh encourages parents not to command children to express their thanks, but to let them show gratitude in whatever way is most comfortable. As Froh points out, children learn best when grown-ups model the very behaviour they'd like to see in their kids.21. What can we know about children who are grateful?A.They are less likely to feel depressed.B.They seem to be more thoughtful.C.They feel proud of others' good fortune.D.They attach importance to selfness.22. How do the experts conduct “gratitude interventions”?A.By asking kids to do hard work.B.By comparing kids with adults.C.By guiding kids to follow good examples.D.By encouraging kids to express their thanks.23. What does Froh advise parents to do?A.Show kids true gratitude.B.Set a good example to kids.C.Provide a comfortable life for kids.D.Tell kids how to express gratitude.24. What may be the best title for the text?A.A new scientific findingB.The power of gratitudeC.Children and gratitudeD.How to express gratitudeⅥ.完形填空William Green, aged 82, was making his breakfast when he heard somebody in his garden. “I went out of back door and suddenly I saw a man running towards me. Module 1 Europe课下主题训练主要国家地理概况Ⅰ.阅读理解A(2021·陕西百校联盟模拟)I'm interested in the Renaissance (文艺复兴), so I like visiting ancient Italian cities.Ferrara is called City of the Renaissance. When I learned about this city on the Internet, I decided to pay a visit to it.The city has a certain charm, but I find it isn't as great as other Italian cities like Verona, let alone Venice or Rome. The Michelin Green Guide gives it two stars, which is right.I first visited the city centre. The Cathedral and Castello Estense are at the heart of the city. Both have striking appearances. I visited the Cathedral first. Castello Estense is also worth visiting, which owes its name to the powerful Este family. It was built with bricks and surrounded by a moat (护城河). At the lower levels, the history of the city and the Este family are told through displays, and in another part the ceilings are shown through mirrors on the ground. In the north, we can appreciate the Renaissance extension of the town, with straight streets and monumental houses. The famous Palazzo dei Diamanti lies here. When I was visiting it, it started to rain, so after taking a few photos quickly, I cut my visit there short. It had been raining for a few days. When the rain ceased, I went to visit the historical centre and the Renaissance buildings. After leaving there, I visited several other interesting places such as palaces and the narrow streets of the downtown. After four hours in Ferrara I left by train to Mantua. There I had a much better time.语篇解读:本文是一篇记叙文。
