The Exploration and Application of Task Based
Language Teaching in College Reading
---A Case Study of《The Battle against AIDS》
Task-Based Language Teaching is proposed in the 1980s, and after 90 years it gained
continue to progress and mature in theory, it is emphasized that students cultivate
innovation capacity and ability of the new teaching methods, conforms to the development
direction of English teaching. Therefore, the current active task in the process of teaching
English teaching, for training and implementation of the reform of English teaching
students’ English ability is of great significance. It can be for students to create a good
learning environment, but it effectively improves the comprehensive ability. At the same
time, students can also solve problems in life and analytical ability to train. The author of
this process of English teaching Task-Based Language Teaching for analysis, in order to be
able to play an active role in teaching English.
1. Meaning of Task-Based Language Teaching
Task-Based Language Leaching mainly refers to the language as a core task of the
organization, teaching unit plan. The “task” is to the activities of people in everyday life
and work in the ongoing process. However, in the process of foreign language teaching,
especially task-based language teaching, “task” mainly refers to the real world as a
reference to a series of activities in the form of language. Because the task-based language
teaching process, “task” and in real life, there are many different places task. “Cognitive
Approach to Language Learning” summed up the “task” should have five characteristics:
(1) The most important thing is significant; (2)the need for a communication effective
problem solving; (3) the existence of similar events in the real world; (4) the first to considered is complete the task; (5) the results to be evaluated in conjunction task of
implementation of the mandate. Task-Based Language Teaching emphasizes that students
should be driven by real task in the process of exploring and addressing the task, makes
autonomous collaboration, learning activities in the course of conversation and discussion.
2. The Main Features of Task-Based Language Teaching in English
Teaching
In (Designing Tasks for the Communicative Cla.ssroom), a book David Numan made it
clear that the task is referred to as “work”, in order to ensure the completion of the task, the
learner with the “meaning” as the destination, as well as the mobilization of non-verbal
language significant resources to build, so as to achieve some sort of communication
problem is solved purposes. In entering into the 21st century, this language teaching
methods to do things gradually penetrate into English teaching in our country, the main
features of Task-Based Language Teaching are the following aspects.
2.1Information Communication More Prominent
Sharing and communication of information is a common human psychological needs.
Once cannot meet this need, people will go back and look for the pursuit. The task-based
approach is the effective use of this psychological needs of students, through a conscious
task information poor way to make students learn to create enthusiasm and interest to get
mobilized and better into the language of the communication process. In this atmosphere,
students bring a certain desire to impart information and access to information, in order to
better use of language, emphasizing communication, the importance of language, rather
than too much emphasis on language form.
2.2 Reflect Communicative Activities’ Authenticity
In the process of teaching English is an important goal is to make the student’s
communicative ability to get training in the current English teaching process, many of the
features as the basis for teaching activities have not really from real life, and can only be
called quasi-communicative. To improve the ability of students to use the language in real
life, we must allow students to actively participate in teaching activities and the completion
of the real task. Task-based approach in the design and practice of all the students real life
experience and knowledge as a basis, which emphasizes teaching through classroom to
allow students use English to complete the real learning, life and work, so that the
students’ ability increase effectively in the use of English.
2.3 Give Full Play to the Role of the Student Center 得分
