——“SQ3R”在托福阅读中的应用

笔者在多年的教学过程中发现一个问题：相当一部分准备参加托福阅读考试的学生常带着一种“读杂志”的心态来读托福阅读的文章：他们从头到尾读文章的每一个词，以同样的速度读着每一句话，读完一遍文章后便一头扎入题目中的解答，这样的阅读方式得到的结果只能离托福阅读考试的要求越来越远，考生必须学会做一个积极的阅读者（active reader）。

研究表明：有目的性的阅读（Reading with a purpose）效率远远高于漫无目的的阅读。无目的阅读是造成阅读效率低，理解能力欠缺的重要原因。

在阅读之前，考生应该学会问自己四个问题：

Why am I reading?

What are my aims?

What am I hoping to discover?

Have I set aside enough time to read?

为了帮助大家提高理解能力，使各位考生更高效地捕捉到关键信息（general topic or main

idea, major points, important facts and details）， 笔者引入在西方广受推崇的SQ3R 阅读法，结合托福阅读的考试特点进行剖析，帮我们更好地应对托福阅读考试。SQ3R 阅读法由五部分构成： Survey，Question，Read，Recite and Review。

Step1: Survey 结构化阅读

结构化阅读的目的是让读者1-3 分钟对阅读材料的结构和内容有一个总体的框架了解和感知。

（1）在阅读之前，考生应当快速地阅读一下文章的标题和小标题。文章的标题往往涵盖了文章的重要内容，小标题则是对文章的局部内容做出了最精准的诠释。

（2）进入文章正文之前，快速扫描一下文章中穿插的图像，照片，流程图和地图以及图片下方的文字。托福阅读文章中加入的图片并不是出题人一时心血来潮，而是为了增进应试者的直观理解，更有效地传递文章背景信息。漠视这些辅助材料等于为难自己。

各类题型特征及解题方法：

1 词汇题

问法：The word/phrase XXX is closest in meaning to____

技巧：

(1)首先看是否认识, 如果在认识, 在选项中找同义或近义词, 并代入原文检验

(2)如果不认识,将4个选项代入原文, 看上下文是否合理

(3)看原词所在句子前后2句, 找重复对应

(4)如果悬想中有2个悬想都在上下文中合理,选择在含义上与原词沾边的词

(5)选项中不认识的词不轻易去选

做题顺序：

看单词，看选项，原文验证

注意：

(1)不可能所有单词都认识

(2)注意熟词僻义, 一定看完所有选项,并代回原文验证

2 指代题

问法：The word they/ their/ it/ its/ some in the passage refers to

技巧：

(1)单复数

it找单数名词或名词性词组

they找复数名词或名词性词组

(2)在主从复合句, 并列句中, 后半句的代词主语优先指代前半句主语的核心词(有例外,

要从意义判断)

(3)简单句中,代词优先指代主语核心词, 次之制代宾语核心词.

(4)代词所在句子找不到合适的指代, 优先指代前一句主语, 次之指代后一句宾语

(5)一句话中, 相同的代词指代相同

3 直接事实题

问法：According to the passage, what/ which/ why/ when?

技巧：定位原文, 细读 (1)题干明确定位 (如给出第几段, highlight)

题目特征：

四个选项中一般只有一个选项被原文提及，或与原文语意一致（同义），此选项即正确答案。

提问方式：

解题方法：

找出题干中的关键词（key words）,一般为核心名词概念或形容词，
