1The Gift of a RoseOne sunny day last week, I had the most amazing experience! It all started when I was walking home from school. I always take the long way through the park because the scenery is so pretty and peaceful there. As I strolled along the winding path, I noticed a beautiful rose bush right next to the trail. It was covered in lush green leaves and bursting with big, red roses in full bloom. Their velvety petals looked so soft and their sweet fragrance was intoxicating.I stopped for a moment to admire the gorgeous flowers. That's when a marvelous idea popped into my head - I should pick one of the roses to give as a gift! My mom always says it's the thoughtful little gestures that make people's days brighter. I knew she would be so proud of me for doing something kind and generous. But who should I give the rose to? I thought about all my friends and family members, trying to decide. Finally, I settled onmy grandma. She lives at a nursing home a few blocks away and I know she doesn't get many visitors. A beautiful fresh rose would definitely put a smile on her face. I could picture her eyes lighting up with joy when I handed it to her. With my mind made up, I carefully plucked one of the fully bloomed roses from the bush, being very gentle so I wouldn't damage it.I inhaled the sweet floral scent and felt so happy already, just imagining how grandma would react. As I resumed my walk home, I kept stopping to smell the rose over and over. Each time, the intoxicating aroma filled my nose and lungs with its delicate perfume. By the time I reached my house, my fingers were slightly stained red from the rose's vibrant petals and the fragrance clung to my hands and clothes. But I didn't mind at all – it was such a pleasant, calming scent. When I got home, I couldn't wait to tell my mom about my plan to give the rose to grandma. I burst through the door, calling out "Mom, mom! Look what I have!" I ran up to her, rose in hand, so excited that I could barely get the words out as I explained where I got it and why I wanted to give it to grandma. At first my mom looked surprised, but then a huge smile spread across her face. "Honey, that is such a wonderful, thoughtful idea!" she said, giving me a big hug. "I'm sure yourgrandma will just love it. Why don't we go see her right now before the rose wilts?"We hopped in the car and rushed over to the nursing home. The whole way there, I kept checking to make sure the rose wasn't getting crumpled or damaged. I wanted it to look absolutely perfect for grandma. When we arrived, I could barely contain my excitement as we made our way to her room.Grandma's face lit up with sheer delight when she saw me coming down the hallway, rose in hand. "Well isn't this a wonderful surprise!" she exclaimed as I handed her the rose. She raised it to her nose and breathed in deeply. "Mmmmm, and it smells heavenly too! Thank you so much, honey."Seeing the look of pure joy and gratitude on her face made me feel absolutely overjoyed. It was such an incredibly warm, fuzzy feeling to know I had done something to really brighten her day. I gave her a big hug, inhaling the lingering floral scent still clinging to my hands and clothes from when I first picked the rose.On the ride home, I rolled down the window and stuck my hands outside, letting the fresh air wash over them. I closed my eyes and just focused on that lovely rose fragrance still lingering on my skin. It made me feel so calm and happy inside. I realizedthat even though I had given the beautiful flower away, I still got to keep that little piece of nature's perfume with me. It was almost like the rose was giving a tiny thank you gift in return for me sharing it with my grandma.Ever since then, I make a point to stop and actually smell the roses (or any flowers I come across) during my walks through the park. It's such a simple act, but it never fails to bring me immense joy and peace. And sometimes I even pick a few blossoms to gift to friends, family, or neighbors to help brighten their days too. Because giving someone the gift of one of nature's beautiful creations is such an easy way to put a smile on someone's face. Plus, even after the flower is given away, the sweet memory of its lovely fragrance still lingers on my hands for a little while afterwards - almost like a little secret between me and the flower itself.篇2Giving Roses, Keeping the FragranceHave you ever heard the saying "giving roses to others while leaving the fragrance in one's hands"? It's a really cool Chinese idiom that my teacher taught us in class the other day. At first, Iwas like "huh, what does that even mean?" But after she explained it, I thought it was such an awesome idea! The idiom is talking about doing good deeds and helping others. The "roses" part means the kind and generous acts you do for people. Maybe you help your mom carry heavy bags from the grocery store or you give one of your toys to a friend who doesn't have many. Those would be like giving roses - beautiful gifts to make someone else's life a little brighter and happier. But here's the really neat part - the "leaving the fragrance in your hands" bit. You see, even after you give those metaphorical roses away, you still get to keep something wonderful for yourself. The fragrance represents the good feelings, the inner warmth, and the sense of joy you get from being kind and generous to others. No matter what, that fragrance of doing the right thing sticks with you! When I first understood what the idiom meant, I thought back to times when I had experienced that feeling myself. Like last year, when I helped my baby brother put together a big jigsaw puzzle. He got so excited every time a new piece fit in, and he would give me the biggest smiles. Even though it took us several days and I got kinda bored with it, seeing how happy he was made me feel awesome inside. That amazing feeling ofmaking him joyful was the fragrance that stayed with me long after we finished the puzzle.Or there was the time I saved up my allowance money for two whole months to buy my best friend an art set for her birthday, because I knew she loved drawing and painting. When she opened it, she screamed with delight and gave me a huge bear hug. Just seeing her face light up with that brilliant smile made every week of no candy or comics totally worth it. The fragrance of her gratitude and our friendship lingered long after the art supplies got used up.I've come to realize that the more I try to follow the wisdom of this idiom - the more kind, caring and unselfish acts I do for the people around me - the better I feel inside. It's like my heart gets topped up with this inexhaustible supply of inner fragrance and warmth. And you know what? Even if I gave away every last rose and did a million good deeds for others, I don't think I could ever run out of that delightful feeling. The fragrance just seems to keep on blooming, again and again.Which is probably why so many wise people throughout history have advocated for living a life of kindness, compassion and generosity. Not just because it makes the world a little bit better (though it absolutely does), but because it nurtures ourown happiness and fulfillment too. When we give roses to others through our considerate actions, we leave the sweetest fragrance for our own spirits as well. It's a total win-win!So from now on, I'm going to try my best to give out as many beautiful roses as I can - by being a good friend, a helpful son, an encouraging classmate. And then I'll make sure to pause, breathe deep, and appreciate the lovely fragrance of those good deeds lingering all around me. Because that gorgeous scent of knowing you brightened someone else's day and made their load a little lighter? That's the stuff that makes life incredible. It fills your heartup with more warmth and joy than you could ever imagine. Yep, get ready world - this kid is going to spread so much fragrance, it's gonna be like living in a rose garden!篇3The Gift of GivingMy name is Emma, and I am nine years old. I love going to school and learning new things every day. One of my favorite subjects is English class because I find it fascinating to learn a new language and discover different words and expressions.A few weeks ago, our English teacher, Mrs. Parker, taught us a beautiful Chinese saying: "赠人玫瑰,手留余香" which means"Gifting roses, keeping the fragrance." At first, I didn't quite understand what it meant, but Mrs. Parker explained it in a way that made perfect sense to me.She told us that this saying suggests that when we give something to others, we also keep a part of it for ourselves. It's like when we give someone a rose; even though the rose is no longer in our hands, the sweet fragrance remains with us. It's a reminder that true happiness comes from giving and sharing with others.I thought this was such a lovely idea, and it made me want to do something kind for someone else. That's when I had a brilliant idea! My mom's birthday was coming up, and I wanted to make her something special.During our arts and crafts class, I worked really hard on making a beautiful card for her. I used all sorts of colorful papers, glitters, and ribbons to decorate it. On the front, I drew a big, red rose with lots of petals and wrote "Happy Birthday, Mom!" inside.I was so proud of how it turned out!On the morning of her birthday, I woke up extra early and made her breakfast in bed. I made her favorite pancakes with lots of syrup and fresh berries on the side. When she came downstairs, I could see the surprise and joy on her face. She gaveme the biggest hug and thanked me for the wonderful breakfast and the beautiful card.As she opened the card and read the message I had written inside, I could see tears of happiness in her eyes. She told me how much she loved the card and how proud she was of me for making it all by myself. In that moment, I understood the true meaning of "赠人玫瑰,手留余香."Even though I had given the card away to my mom, the joy and happiness I felt from making her smile and seeing how much she appreciated my effort was the fragrance that remained with me. It was a feeling of warmth and contentment that filled my heart. From that day on, I made it a goal to try and do something kind for someone else every day, whether it was helping a classmate with their homework, picking up litter on the playground, or simply giving a compliment to a friend.I realized that giving doesn't always have to be a big, grand gesture. Sometimes, the smallest acts of kindness can make the biggest difference in someone's day. And each time I did something nice for someone else, I felt that same sense of joy and happiness, like the fragrance of a beautiful rose lingering in the air.Mrs. Parker was right; true happiness comes from giving and sharing with others. When we give from the heart, we not only brighten someone else's day, but we also keep a part of that joy and contentment for ourselves. So, the next time you have the opportunity to do something kind for someone, remember the saying "赠人玫瑰,手留余香." Give freely and without expectation, and you'll find that the fragrance of that act will stay with you, filling your heart with warmth and happiness.。
