In addition, training courses would increase motivation: Staff would enjoy the lessons and perceive that the company is investing in them. Therefore, language training would be an option.l Special bonus paymentsl Although special bonus payments would have a beneficial impact on motivation, they would have no direct effect on the company’s operations. There are also potential problems concerning the selection of staff eligible for the payments and the setting of a precedent(先前出现的事例;前例;先例) for future payments. Therefore bonus payment would not be advisable.l Recommendationl It is felt that the best solution for both the company and staff would be to invest in language training. Subject: Common type of employee injury and other yearly information
Summary
As most of our company’s workers spend their days packing books,DVDs,and other
products into mailing boxes, work-related injury is inevitable and common. Therefore,
it’s necessary to investigate some yearly information such as the type of injuries and
the amount of workers’ compensations, and attach importance to the productivity loss
caused by the injuries.
Details of information
·As the yearly information shows,in 2015,256 injuries occurred in our
company, which indicates it could happen a injury every day and a half.
· It’s back injury that happens most commonly among those workers .as they always
need to pack stuffs like books and carry them to warehouse.
·With those injuries occurring, the expensive cost is inevitable.According to
incomplete statistics, the total cost in 2015 was about $350,000, which is not a small
sum of expenditure for company.
·Except the direct cost of injury, there is another issue to be consider. For example,to
set up a good company image,it still cost $60,000 per year for open claims to deal
with trouble.
·Because of the work-related injuries, many workers would have to take a rest for
recovering, which could lead to a significant loss in productivity.
Method used
In order to investigate this issue,we have used the following methods:
1.We made a questionnaire for selecting specific information, through which we
discover the most common type of injuries and workers’ average compensation.
2.Not only the questionnaire, but also interview has been used to acquire
information. When we talked with the injured,we gather more detailed information
which consists of the compensation applying process and even some suing cases.
Findings
In the year 2015, injuries occurring on the job resulted in an average of 256 injuries
annually, and close to 80 compensated claims. The consequences of occupational
injuries can be appreciable: lost work time and income, medical expenses,
compensation costs, possible long-term health problems or disability, and a burden on
the family of the injured worker.
Recommendation
As soon after an accident occurs as possible, we can complete an Accident
Investigation Report, in addition to a Workers’Compensation Claim Report.
Meanwhile, the injured employee and any other witnesses may complete a Witness
Statement.which is also helpful in the prevention of future accidents.Last but not
least, our company should increase the budget on employee injuries so that we could
have more competence to deal with them.
