以当你老了为题的英语演讲稿Title: When You Grow OldIntroduction:Ladies and gentlemen,Today, I would like to address a topic that is close to our hearts - the process of growing old. It is an inevitable part of our lives, and something that we should all reflect upon and prepare for. In this speech, I would like to share my thoughts on what it means to grow old and how we can embrace this phase of life.Body:1. Embracing Change:As we grow older, our lives undergo significant changes. Our physical appearance alters, our energy levels decline, and we may experience health issues. However, it is essential to remember that change is an intrinsic partof life. Rather than fearing or resisting it, we should embrace it. This is an opportunity for personal growth and self-acceptance.2. Wisdom and Experience:Growing old brings with it a wealth of wisdom and experience. Over the years, we accumulate knowledge and insights that can greatly benefit society. We have witnessed the ebb and flow of life, making us well-equipped to navigate challenges and offer guidance to the younger generations. Let us cherish these experiences and share them with others.3. Pursuing Passions:Age should never be a barrier to pursuing our passions. In fact, it is during our golden years that we may have the most leisure time to devote to activities we love. Whether it be painting, learning a musical instrument, writing, or traveling, we should seize the opportunity to indulge in our passions fully. These activities not only bring us joy but also provide mental stimulation.4. Building Relationships:As we grow older, relationships become even more important. Our family, friends, and loved ones become our pillars of support and companionship. Let us invest time and effort into nurturing these relationships. Reach out to old friends, spend quality time with family, and build new connections. Maintaining social connections has been linked to improved mental and emotional well-being in old age.5. Healthy Lifestyle:Taking care of our physical health becomes crucial as we grow older. Regular exercise, a balanced diet, and sufficient rest are essential for maintaining our well-being. Engaging in physical activities like walking, swimming, or practicing yoga not only improves our physical health but also helps us stay mentally agile. By adopting a healthy lifestyle, we can age gracefully and reduce the risk of chronic illnesses.6. Embracing Technology:Technology has become an integral part of our lives, regardless of age. It offers numerous benefits, particularly for the elderly. Embracing technologyallows us to stay connected with loved ones, access information, and engage in various activities from the comfort of our homes. From video calls to online learning platforms, technology can enhance our lives and keep us engaged. Conclusion:In conclusion, growing old is not something to be feared or avoided; it is a natural progression in life. By embracing change, tapping into our wisdom, pursuing our passions, building relationships, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and embracing technology, we can make our golden years fulfilling and enjoyable. Let us celebrate the journey of growing old, cherishing the experiences and opportunities it brings. Remember, age is just a number, and true fulfillment comes from a positive outlook and embracing life at every stage. Thank you.。
When You Are OldWilliam Butler Yeats叶芝名篇欣赏《当你老了》。
时间就像沙漏,慢慢的遗失,当青春不在,回忆过去的日子,是何种情感?When you are old and grey and full of sleep,And nodding by the fire, take down this book,And slowly read, and dream of the soft lookYour eyes had once, and of their shadows deep; How many loved your moments of glad grace,And loved your beauty with love false or true,But one man loved the pilgrim Soul in you,And loved the sorrows of your changing face; And bending down beside the glowing bars,Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fledAnd paced upon the mountains overheadAnd hid his face amid a crowd of stars.

When You Are OldWhen I glance over the book, I am attracted by a poem title --- When You Are Old. I am sure that the poem is related to love and so it is. It is the first time I read William Butler Yeats. Why I am sure that the poem is about love even though I just read the title before? It is all because the magic of the four words. They brought a picture to me. An old man and an old woman were slowly walking on the street with the warm sunshine. It is also my expectation of love, loving a person for a lifetime with no regret and no miss. Yeats did not get the woman’s love at last, but his love of the woman is deep in our heart. The poem does not have any sweet words or any promise of love. It just shows Yeats’ lifelong love in a peaceful way which attr acts us a lot. “…one man loved the pilgrim soul in you…” Pilgrim is a person who travels especially a long way to a holy place as an art of religious love and respect. The pilgrim soul gives me a holy impression of the woman. It tells me that the woman is not a shallow person; she had a strong mind and a benevolent heart which both are attractive, absorbing Yeats. Yeats loved the woman not for what she was, but for what he was when he was with her. Everyone always wants to find their soul mates. They want to find a special kind of love which is also for their souls not only for their bodies. But people also miss it. Sometimes it is because of their carefulness and sometimes because they do not value it. I do not know why the woman didn’t accept Yeats’ love r esulting that Yeats’ mostof the poems are covered with sadness. In the poem, Yeats contrasts his love for her with the love if others. “…How many loved your moments of glad grace, and loved your beauty with love false or true…” He first showed the love of others, telling that many of the people love the woman’s beautiful appearance and the love will fade away with time. “…But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you, and loved the sorrows of your changing face…”He tells that he will love her for lifelong whatever she changed. This obvious comparison strongly shows that his love is not the same with the others.Yeats’ love of the woman is the ideal love in the world. I hope that when I am old, I have already found the person I love as the most romantic thing is to be getting older with you slowly.。

More than 170,000 people died, but this photo tells just one victim’s story. In it, a woman has discovered the body of a dead relative. Notice her handprints in the sand and how she seems to plead for an explanation. “In a good picture you can hear the roar of nature and the silence of grief,” said World Press Photo judge Diego Goldberg.“[The photographer]…chose a very simple composition… It shows you ca n express huge events by showing the detail.”What detail do you notice in the photo?(Photograph by Arko Datto. When You Are OldWhen you are old and gray and full of sleepAnd nodding by the fire, take down this book,And slowly read, and dream of the soft lookYour eyes had once, and of their shadows deep; How many loved your moments of glad grace,And loved your beauty with love false or true; But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,And loved the sorrows of your changing face; And bending down beside the glowing bars,Murmur, a little sadly, how love fledAnd paced upon the mountains overhead,And hid his face amid a crowd of stars. For me, I got to know this poem< When You Are Old > the first time on the Hunan TV’s program “I am a singer”. The famous singer Li Jian sang the song <when you are old >, whose lyric is mainly with this Yeat’s poem. The song is so wonderful and beautiful that I fell in deep love with it immediately. With greatly admiration, I searched out the original poem------to experience its enchantment from its original language. This poem was written in 1893 and dedicated to Maud Gonne, the woman whom he had loved for all of his life. He spent a lifetime to love her and wait her, but got nothing at last, expect for many popular and readable poems. That’s why there is a feeling sorrow and regretless in the poem. The poem uses contrast method to express its theme. He contrasts a young beautiful girl with an old lady (who may be the beautiful girl, when she becomes old); he compares his love with others’ to the girl; he also contrasts his dream and the reality. So much comparison not only can be understood as the poet hopes his lover can have a thorough understanding on her experience feelings in the old time, but also hope that his lover can really understand the sincere love heart. It repeats the imagery‘fire’ many times, to stress out the warm fire can bring. However, it will be no use to the poet. The fire is that warm, but cannot warm his heart; he feels despair with his love always. So much repetitioncan make the emotion more intensely. The poem also uses symbolismto strengthen mood and emotion.Fire symbolizes warmth; the mountains symbolize hardship and stars symbolizes forever. There are many very different versions with this poem, especially for the last two sentences. ”And paced upon the mountains overhe ad, and hid his face amid a crowd of stars.”In my understanding, although the poet loved very arduously, painfully and hopelessly at that time, when his lover becomes old, faced with phases of confusion, tired, lonely, sad and helpless, the poet’s love will sublime. That is a higher realm of love. On the top of the mountain, in the crowd of the stars, the poet still loved with his lover unwaveringly. He affectionately watchedand blessed lover, and wished her getting eternal happiness. The poet's love story deeply moves readers; the poet's love masterpiece is read worldwide. In China, there are many famous poems which have similar feelings of love. Thus, sincere love can occur without boundaries and time. Love is always faithful and touching.Sincerely, I hope that when I am old, I have already found the right person with me. ”One man loved the pilgrim soul in you, and loved the sorrows of your changing face.” ------The most romantic thing is certainly to be getting old with my lover slowly.。
