教材分析 The theme of this unit is about sports and fitness, while the theme of the reading and

thinking part is “choose your favourite athlete”. The text is from a magazine, which

introduce two famous athletes: Lang Ping and Michael Jordan. We can learn the

athletic spirit from the two persons, such as teamwork spirit, determination,

persistence and contribution. The structure of the text is very clear, which consist of

title, summary and body, so students can easily understand the text and learn some

athletic spirit from the two athletes.

学情分析 Students in Grade One has learned English for years, and they have mastered some

basic language points and language skills, and they can get some detailed information

in the text. But most of them lack reading strategies like skimming, scanning and

prediction. This text is related to sports and fitness, which is also a trend in China---national fitness program, and the two athletes are familiar to students, so

they can be interested in reading the text.

Enable students to read magazine articles and get some main ideas and opinions.

Help the students get insight into reading skills.
