从此翻译研究出现了“去精英化”的趋势,开始渗透到人们生活的衣食住行各个方面。
同时在20世纪末,随着经济的发展,中国政府意识到,中国单单作为一个经济大国是不够的,还应该在世界上发挥文化大国的作用,因此应该用世界上的主要语言来翻译中国文化,特别是英语,从而在文化上塑造一个大国形象。
在此背景下,公示语翻译在新世纪逐渐成为我国翻译研究的一个热门话题,本文基于国内三大翻译核心期刊2000年以来有关公示语翻译研究的文章,对我国新世纪公示语翻译研究做出总结。
二、公示语翻译研究概况21世纪我国公示语翻译研究文章的数量和质量快速上升,推动我国公示语研究的直接诱因是中国参与国际盛会,包括2008年北京奥运、2010年上海世博会和2010年广州亚运会。
为了迎接这些盛会,净化语言环境,优化国际交往空间,提高我国的国际形象,国内掀起了一系列公示语研究学术性活动:2002年北京第二外国语学院成立“公示语翻译研究中心”、2003年开通“汉英公示语研究在线”、2005年中国翻译协会召开“首届全国公示语翻译研讨会”、2007年召开“第二届全国公示语翻译研讨会”,此期间《中国翻译》杂志更是开辟公示语翻译专栏邀文讨论。
