晨读英语文本3[范文]第一篇:晨读英语文本3[范文]3. X-SportsRick Stevenson, 16 years old, spends every minute he can on the mountain. He and his friends go snow-boarding every weekend. “It's incredible,” he says. “The winds are so strong, the boards go 50 miles an hour.” His friend Laura Fields agrees. “No one goes skiing anymore,” she says.“That’s for the old folks.”Rick and Laura are part of a new trend in sports. It has its own language, words such as “rage,” “juice,” and “energy.” It has its own clothing, such as skin-tight bicycle suits in rainbow colors or baggy tops and pants. And it’s not for the old or the easily frightened. Its philosophy is to get as close to the edge as possible. And more and more young athletes are taking part in these risky, daredevil activities called “extreme sports,” or “X-sports.”In the past, young athletes would play hockey or baseball. Today, they want risk andexcitement—the closer to the edge the better. They snowboard over cliffs and mountain-bike down steep mountains. They wind-surf near hurricanes, go white-water rafting through rapids, and bungy-jump from towers.Extreme sports started as an alternative to more expensive sports.A city kid who didn’t have the money t o buy expensive sports equipment could get askateboard and have fun. But now it has become a whole new area of sports, with specialized equipment and high levels of skill. There’s even a special Olympics for extreme sports, calledthe Winter X-Games, which includes snow mountain biking and ice climbing. An Extreme Games competition is held each summer in Rhode Island. It features sports such as sky surfing, where people jump from airplanes with surfboards attached to their feet. What makes extreme sports so popular?“People love the thrill,” says Murray Nussbaum, who sells sports equipment. "City people want to be outdoors on the weekend and do something challenging. The new equipment is so much better that people can take more risks without getting hurt.” An athlete adds, “Sure there’s a risk, but that’s part of the appeal. Once you go mountain biking or snowboarding, it’s impossible to go back to bike riding or skiing. It’s just too boring.”Extreme sports are certainly not for everyone. Most people still prefer to play baseball or basketball or watch sports on TV. But extreme sports are definitely gaining in popularity. “These sports are fresh and exciting. It’s the wave of the future. The potential is huge,” says Nussbaum.第二篇:英语专业晨读美文励志篇(mp3 文本)-如何梦想成真讲解英语专业晨读美文励志篇:如何梦想成真(美音)[00:04.27]Dreams[00:08.23]To accomplish great things, you must dream great dreams.[00:12.80]But dreaming alone isn't enough,[00:14.90]you must believe in your dreams and you must act.[00:17.77]Without action, even the most grand of dreams evaporate into the air[00:22.65]when left unnurtured in the misty realms of the mind.[00:26.13]Do you dare to be a dreamer? It's like we've known it for a long time. One day, you took me to your house. One day, I brought you to my house, too.I looked over all your albums, saw the children and grew up. You also see all my baby in the eye. I store all my letters to you, you say you are the bank is the safe, I can put it for a long time. I took 4 old pennies from you, and finally brought it to Xi'an for a short but beautiful one.Time is the second semester of high school extracurricular activities that day just, you took me to the playground to relax.Sunset, we leisurely on the barbed wire, soft light as crystal drapes generally fell. On our young and innocent faces, we have a word that says nothing about the pain of pain. And look at the youngsters who play football.Suddenly, you said "ten years" in the music class, you cried, but at that time, the curtains were darkened in the classroom, and you passed your head again, so the classmates didn't see you crying. I say I don't know. Girl, you are more sentimental than I do! If you are not happy, your eyes and your smile will explain everything. In the evening, the sunset, the wire fence, you gave me the "ten years", singing and singing you cry, you cry when it is very painful. Then my tears fall down it, we hug each other and then wiped away tears, then leave the easy but sad. We were not 16 years old that year. After leaving, there was only a teenager on the football field. There was a child in my mind that was deeply imprinted in mymind, and the impression was not worn out until now. And even if he did not say a word, even though never met, even now his home is not in xiji. I'll remember it that way.Exactly a year later found the child last year, on the 30 day and the imperial sister to go to the mall to buy things, very clever, docking moment to pick up in my eyes, I did not confound, no escape, in response to a natural smile and then leave, now I do not know where the football when the children go.Dear, I'm sorry, I didn't share with you football and youth in that day. I just want to share all the real people and things with you. I don't want to share those illusory and unreal dummy things. Because those things will make us tired and tired. At that time, we were real teenagers. That summer we don't love sports class, we go to buy breakfast, together we read, we exercise together, we go to buy ice cream to buy a popsicle, let's listen to the "release" listen to "love" down, we together for life together graffiti writing, we laugh together cry together to share our youth. We were inseparable that year, and we were not 16 years old that year. When we put the youth as a clean sheet of paper, no paper of the poems, graffiti. Squandering our young years on paper. I don't know how long I haven't seen the words you wrote on the book, and I don't know that the words are still warm. Then I don't know how many people you have sung to ten years to hear, maybe never sing it, maybe many times. Only the girl, the feeling of singing that song may not be so profound, ten years, very short, very long. That year, we were all children in the book.Later, we all have their own friends. Later, we graduated. When we graduated, we wrote several lines for you. We cried thatday, and we graduated for the sorrow of the distance for the years. Finally, I went to the ancient city of Xi'an, you also went to the ancient city, but we were not in the same city.Every time I hear "ten years", I will remember all kinds of past.I will think of you, and think of the tall, smiling, extremely charming and extremely warm you.Perhaps those who have passed a long time but still dying because of the deep. In it here, "ten years" has become synonymous with you. "Ten years" sounded, as you appear in my side. In the next ten years, what kind of relationship do we have to meet? You said before, if you had a holiday, you would come to Xi'an and let me have a good reception. After waiting for a long time, you didn't come. After that, you went to Hainan. You went to Haikou to see the new year's Party of Shandong satellite TV. You saw Xu Wei, you leave message for me. So the girl, is it home now?May we be a teenager at the age of 16. It will also be silly to sing "if you love", you will also watch the new concept together, and write things for each other.篇3:晨读英语美文Time, like people in the life of the hurried passer, often in our unwittingly, quietly and go, without leaving a trace.Cherish the time, that is, to cherish every short eternal eternity. Tao Yuanming said: "prime not to - day difficult morning. In time to encourage, the years do not wait for people. " Life is short, we want to succeed in a short period of time, we must grasp every minute, do not let the time pass, not to idle away the remorse. We have to create a beautiful miracle in a limited period of time to express the glorious chapter of life. There was a person,I get up at 5 o'clock every morning, the desk has been written 8 o'clock in the evening, within 15 hours, he just rest for a moment, at dinner he said: "the time to give up, give up his time." The secret of his success is that he never gives up time. He is Verne, a French popular science writer. To cherish the time, we should make full use of time. Every person's life is limited, and people have life, and they are gradually dying. We have a lot of time, time like money, day by day in the lost. Day by day, we can't catch it. We can't catch it. We can't keep it. We can only make full use of our time, grasp today, cherish everything we have now, and create a better tomorrow. That's the real happiness. Before we go to bed, have you ever thought about what I did today? Is it not a waste of time for today's limited time? How many people can hold every second of life and make use of our savings to make every day a harvest?Cherish the time, can make tomorrow's brilliance. When we are old, memories of the past, only to find the time flies, his life has not changed, still so simple, ordinary. Only by cherishing time can our life be colorful, or life will be reduced. We must hold today to create the glory of tomorrow. Let us take today's wings, make tomorrow more brilliant, and make tomorrow brilliant and eternal."Time is money", we should cherish every minute, to find the time, and not let the time come to us. Let's fly on the wings of time.。
适合晨读的英语美文适合晨读的英语美文适合晨读的英语美文已经为大家整理好了,你读得是什么,就是什么,请看下面:适合晨读的.英语美文1.HappinessMany people think that when they become rich and successful, happiness will naturally follow.Let me tell you that nothing is further from the truth. The world is full of very rich peoplewho are as miserable as if they were living in hell.We have read stories about movie stars who committed suicide or died from drugs.Quite clearly, money is not the only answer to all problems.Wealth obtained through dishonest means does not bring happiness.Lottery winnings do not bring happiness.Gamble winnings do not bring happiness. To my mind, the secret to happiness lies in your successful work,There is no use sayingin your contribution towards others'happiness and in your wealth you have earned through your own honest effort. If you obtain wealth through luck or dishonest means, you will know that it is ill earned money. If you get your money by taking advantage of others or by hurting others, you will not be happy with it.You will think you are a base person.Long-term happiness is based on honesty, productive work, contribution, and self-esteem.Happiness is not an end; it is a process. It is a continuous process of honest, productive workwhich makes a real contribution to othersand makes you feel you are a useful, worthy person. As Dr. Wayne wrote, “There is no way tohappiness. Happiness is the way.”There is no use saying“Some day when I achieve these goals, when I get a car, build a house and own my own business, then I will be really happy.”Life just does not work that way.If you wait for certain things to happenand depend on external circumstances of life to make you happy, you will always feel unfulfilled. There will always be something missing.适合晨读的英语美文2.The English CharacterTo other Europeans, the best known quality of the British, and in particular of the English, is "reserved".A reserved person is one who does not talk very much to strangers, does not show much emotion, and seldom gets excited. It is difficult to get to know a reserved person:he never tells you anything about himself, and you may work with him for years without ever knowing where he lives, how many children he has, and what his interests are.English people tend to be like that.Closely related to English reserve is English modesty.Within their hearts, the English are perhaps no less conceited than anybody else, but in their relations with others they value at least a show of modesty.Self-praise is felt to be impolite. If a person is, let us say, very good at tennis and someone asks him if he is a good player,he will seldom reply “Yes,”because people will think him conceited. He will probably give an answer like,“I'm not bad,” or “I think I'm very good,” or “Well,I’m very keen on tennis.”Even if he had managed to reach the finals in last year's local championships,he would say it in such a way as to suggest that it was only due to a piece of good luck.Since reserve and modesty are part of his own nature, the typical English tends to expect them in others. He secretly looksdown on more excitable nations, and likes to think of himself as more reliable than they are.He doesn't trust big promises and open shows of feelings, especially if they are expressed in flowery language. He doesn't trust self-praise of any kind. This applies not only to what other people may tell him about themselves orally, but to the letters they may write to him.To those who are fond of flowery expressions, the Englishman may appear uncomfortably cold.适合晨读的英语美文3.ExerciseA state of physical and mental health allows you to take part in exercise comfortably and enjoyably so that it doesn’t hurt,so that you can look forward to it, and feel good afterwards. If you are feeling down, exercise may help pick you up.Although researchers disagree on this issue, one review of past studies found that long-term exercise, especially when it includes long-lasting, strenuous training sessions, has about as much of an effect on depression as psychotherapy.Working out helps you deal with stress in your job, relationships or any area of life — possibly because exercise is a form of stress itself and helps condition your body to deal with it.When Australian researchers compared people who did 30 minutes of aerobic exercise three times a week to those who practiced progressive relaxation techniques, they found that the former group responded better to acute stress and had lower blood pressure.Even a little exercise can make you think less anxiously.Studies have shown that any amount of exercise, from a brisk 10 minutes'walk to an intense aerobics or weightlifting session seems to decrease feelings of anxiety.Working out regularly may make you smarter now and lessenthe possibility that you’ll lose brain function as you age.According to a recent animal study at the University of Illinois, exercise can actually help the brain develop new cells. In several studies, regular weight training or aerobic exercise was shown to improve the quality and duration of sleep.Naturally, this can make you less fatigued and be able to function better during the day.Like meditation, hobbies or any other leisure activity, exercise gives your mind a needed break from everyday thoughts, responsibilities and commitments. Finally, there’s one more reason to keep exercising. When you work out regularly, your body simply functions better — you are better, healthier and less likely to suffer painful physical conditions. And that just plain feels good.适合晨读的英语美文4.Olympic GamesEvery four years, the best athletes from countries around the world come together in the spirit of peace and friendship to compete in the Olympic Games. With the lighting of the Olympic flame the games begin —the Olympic spirit kept alive. That flame has been brought many thousands of miles by relay runners all the way from Olympia,in Western Greece, where the ceremony began 2700 years ago. This simple ceremony, and the lighting of the torch,is the spark that renews the Olympic flame wherever the games are played. The games symboli zed the early Greeks’ ideal of man’s unity, their vision of peace, and of human perfection. The Olympic began as a religious ceremony. The First Games in recorded history took place in the year 776 BC.This was the time of the Western Zhou period in China. All the Greek city-states participated.States at war with each other would end hostilities for the duration of the Games. The Olympic motto is universally accepted as “Swifter, Higher, Stronger.”One athlete from the games host country takes an oath at the Opening Ceremony on behalf of all the competing athletes: "In the name of all competitors, I promise that we shall take part in these Olympic games, respecting and abiding by the rules which govern them,in the true spirit of sportsmanship, for the glory o f sport and the honor of our teams.”In ancient times, winners were crowned with wreaths of the sacred olive.Their names were proclaimed throughout the Greek city-states.Things have not changed much in this regard.Today, first place winners are awarded gold medals, second place winners, silver, and third place gets the bronze. And, as in ancient times, Olympic stars become internationally famous.Let us hope that this living experience of peace and friendship between all the peoples of the world that began in Olympia, in ancient Greece, will continue for many centuries to come.5.All Ever Really Needed to Know I Learned in KindergartenMost of what I really need to know about how to live and what to do and how to be,I learned in kindergarten.Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate mountain, but there in the sandbox at nursery school. These are the things I learned:Share everything. Play fair. Don’t hit people.Put things back where you found them.Clean up your own mess.Don’t take things that aren’t your s.Say you’re sorry when you hurt somebody.Wash your hands before you eat.Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.Live a balanced life.Learn some and think some and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work every day some.Take a nap every afternoon. When you go out into the world, watch for traffic, hold hands and stick together.Be aware of wonder.Remember the little seed in the plastic cup?The roots go down and the plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why,but we are all like that.Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the plastic cup — they all die. So do we.And then remember the book about Dick and Jane and the first word you learned, the biggest word of all:。

But still there is something missing from your life. Guess what? The LOVE. It is not something which you should ignore. Life without love is just like body without soul.Love gives meaning to life as without love life is meaningless. Lucky is the person who gets love and keeps the flames of love burning for ever. It is not a matter of days or months. Love is for life and life is for love.Short term love encounters are not helpful at all. Be sincere with your body and soul. Indulge in serious life long loving relationship and live a healthy, happy and joyful life.It is easy to fell in love but difficult to keep the flames of love burning. Before indulging in serious long term love relationships be sure that the person you love is also sincere with you. A selfish person can make your life miserable. If this is the case with you then try to get rid of that person as soon as possible. Most people do not give importance to their love life as they give importance to their professional life. In most cases, people sacrifice their love life at the cost of their profession. This is a bad choice whichruins the whole life. A sensible balance between the two is necessary in order to enjoy life in its entirety. Do not deprive yourself of the love you need.People part their ways after living together for years and years. Though this looks strange but is the obvious result of ignoring the genuine complaints and grievances of the other. Sometimes a sincere apology, gentle touch, or a friendly kiss is enough to put your love life on track. However, when deep differences develop between the two then professional consultation is necessary. Do everything to bring back love to your life, if it is lost.In order to make the journey of life more exciting and enjoyable, you need a loving and caring person with whom you can share your values, dreams, fantasies, joys and jokes. In difficult times of anxiety, sorrow, distress or loss of near and dear ones this person should stand firm besides you and console you in every possible manner.Love your life and love the person who is in your life. That is the crucial first step if we are to have good relationships with others. How can we have good relationships with others if we don't even havegood relationship with ourselves? The problem might be worse than we expect. Maybe we don't like ourselves without realizing it. Here is a simple checklist; is there anything you don't like about yourself from these list?Your pastMaybe you have made mistakes in the past which you feel bad about. You might be disappointed with yourself on why you could make such mistakes. Even if that happened in distant past, your subconscious mind still has a reason not to like yourself.Your backgroundYou might wish that you were born in different family, or that you have different background. Maybe you could not accept the fact that you are not as lucky as others, who seem to get whatever they want effortlessly because of their background.Your personality traitsYou might have some personality traits that you don't like. For example, you may be an introvert and you don't like it; you wish you are an extrovert.Your achievements relative to others Others might have better achievements than you, and no matter how hard you tried, it might seem impossible for you to match them. You might then think that it's because you are not smart enough or don't have enough talents. Is there anything that resonate with you? All these give reasons to you not to like yourself. That in turn makes it difficult for you to be a good friend to yourself.Fortunately, there are always things you can do to fix the situation. Here are some tips:1. Forgive yourselfYou may have made those mistakes in the past, but is thereanything you can do about them? I don't think so, except learning from them. It's true that you are not perfect, but neither is everybody else. It’s normal to make mistakes, so do yourself a favor by giving yourself forgiveness.2. Accept things you can't changeThere are some things you cannot change, such as your background and your past. So learn to accept them. You will feel much relieved if you treat things you can’t change the way they deserve: just accept them, smile, and move on.3. Focus on your strengthsInstead of focusing on your weaknesses, focus on your strengths. You always have some strengths which give you a unique combination nobody else have. Recognize your strengths and build your life around them.Health Top Tips Nutrition Lifestyle4. Write your success storiesOne reason we may not like ourselves is we are too focused on what we don’t have that we forget about what we have. So make a list of your achievements; write your success stories. They do not have to be big things; there are a lot of small but important achievements in our life. For example, if you have some good friends, that’s already an achievement. If you have a good family, that is also an achievement.5. Stop comparing yourself with othersYou are unique. You can never be like other people, and neither can other people be like you. The way you measure your success is not determined by other people and what they achieve. Instead, it is determined by your own life purpose. You have everything you need to achieve your life purpose, so it's useless to compare yourself with others.6. Always be true to yourselfYou don't like other people lying to you, right? Similarly, you won't like yourself if you know that you lie to yourself. Whether you realize it or not, that gives your mind a reason not to like yourself. That’s why it's important to always be true to yourself. In whatever you do, be honest and follow your conscience. Remember this quote by Abraham Lincoln:I desire so to conduct the affairs of this administration that if at the end . . . I have lost every other friend on earth, I shall at least have one friend left, and that friend shall be down inside of me.经典晨读英文文章篇三VirtueSweet day,so cool,so calm,so bright! 甜美的白昼,如此凉爽、安宁、明媚!The bridal of the earth and sky- 天地间完美的匹配——The dew shall weep thy fall to-night; 今宵的露珠儿将为你的消逝而落泪;For thou must die. 因为你必须离去。

"Who knows, one day, it may be of use to you."The lazy boy began to see what he could do. But after a little practice he found that he was becoming very skilled and soon he was making some of the finest tacks.Old Mr. Smith died and the son on account of the war lost all his goods. He had to leave home and was forced to take up residence in another country. It so happened that in this village there were numerous shoemakers who were spending a lot of money to buy tacks for their shoes and even at times when they paid high prices they were not always able to get what they wanted, because in that part of the country there was a high demand for soldiers' shoes. Our young Mr. Smith, who was finding it difficult to earn his daily bread, remembered that once upon a time he had learnedthe art of making tacks and had the sudden idea of making a bargain with the shoemakers. He told them that he would make the tacks if they would help to get him settled in his workshop. The shoemakers were only too glad of the offer. And after a while, Mr. Smith found that he was soon making the finest tacks in the village."How funny it seems," he used to say, "even making tacks can bring a fortune. My trade is more useful to me than were all my former riches."琼斯是个非常勤劳的铁匠,常常一整天都在店里工作。

适合学生晨读的英语美文篇1I was 45 years old when I decided to learn how to surf. They say that life is tough enough. But I guess I like to make things difficult on myself, because I do that all the time.Every day and on purpose. That's because I believe in disrupting my comfort zone. When I started out in the entertainment business, I made a list of people that I thought would be good to me.Not people who could give me a job or a deal, but people who could shake me up, teach me something, challenge my ideas about myself and the world. So I started calling up experts in all kinds of fields. Some of them were world-famous.Of course, I didn't know any of these people and none of them knew me.So when I called these people up to ask them for a meeting, the response wasn't always friendly. And even when they agreed to give me some of their time, the results weren't always what one might describe as pleasant.Take, for example, Edward Teller, the father of the hydrogen bomb.It took me a year of begging and more begging to get to him to agree to meet with me.And then what happened? He ridiculed me and insulted me.But that was okay.I was hoping to learn something from him—and I did, even if it was only that I'm not that interesting to a physicist with no taste for our pop culture.Over the last 30 years, I've produced more than 50 movies and 20 television series.I'm successful and, in my business, pretty well known. So why do I continue to subject myself to this sort of thing? The answer is simple:Disrupting my comfort zone, bombarding myself with challenging people and situations—this is the best way that I know to keep growing. And to paraphrase a biologist I once met,if you're not growing, you're dying. So maybe I'm not the best surfer on the north shore, but that's okay. The discomfort, the uncertainty, the physical and mental challenge that I get from this—all the things that too many of us spend our time and energy trying to avoid—they are precisely the things that keep me in the game.适合学生晨读的英语美文篇2Studies serve for delight, for ornament, and for ability.Their chief use for delight, is in privateness and retiring;for ornament, is in discourse;and for ability, is in the judgement and disposition of business. For expert men can execute, and perhaps judge of particulars, one by one;but the general counsels, and the plots andmarshalling of affairs, come best from those that are learned. To spend too much time in studies is sloth;to use them too much for ornament,is affectation;to make judgement wholly by their rules, is the humour of a scholar. They perfect nature, and are perfected by experience:for natural abilities are like natural plants, that need pruning by study;and studies themselves do give forth directions too much at large, except they be bounded in by experience.Crafty men contemn studies, simple men admire them, and wise men use them;for they teach not their own use;but that is a wisdom without them, and above them, won by observation.Read not to contradict and confute;nor to believe and take for granted; nor to find talk and discourse;but to weigh and consider. Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested;that is, some books are to be read only in parts;others to be read, but not curiously;and some few to be read wholly, and with diligence and attention. Some books also may be read by deputy, and extracts made of them by others;but that would be only in the less important arguments, and the meaner sort of books;else distilled books are, like common distilled waters, flashy things.Reading makes a full man;conference a ready man; and writing an exact man.And therefore,if a man write little,he had need have a great memory;if he confer little, he had need have a present wit;and if he read little, he had need have much cunning, to seem to know that he does not.Histories make men wise; poets witty; the mathematics subtle;natural philosophy deep; moral grave;logic and rhetoricable to contend.适合学生晨读的英语美文篇3Beautythere were a sensitivity and a beauty to her that have nothing to do with looks. She was one to be listened to, whose words were so easy to take to heart.I have thought about her often over the years and how she struggled in a society that places an incredible premium on looks, class, wealth and all the other fineries of life. She suffered from a disfigurement that cannot be made to look attractive. I know that her condition hurt her deeply.Would her life have been different had she been pretty? Chances are it would have. And yet there were a sensitivity and a beauty to her that had nothing to do with looks. She was one to be listened to, whose words were so easy to take to heart. Her words came from a wounded but loving heart, very much like all hearts, but she had more of a need to be aware of it, to live with it and learn from it. She possessed a fine-tuned sense of beauty. Her only fear in life was the loss of a friend. It is said that the true nature of being is veiled. The labor of words, the expression of art, the seemingly ceaseless buzz that is human thought all have in common the need to get at what really is so. The hope to draw close to and possess the truth of being can be a feverish one. In some cases it can even be fatal, if pleasure is one's truth and its attainment more important than life itself. In other lives, though, the search for what is truthful gives life. The truth of her life was a desire to see beyond the surface for a glimpse of what it is that matters. She found beauty and grace and they befriended her, and showed her what is real.适合学生晨读的英语美文篇4DreamsWhen we were young, we had dreams and expectations. We imagine things; we keep thinking about what we want to be, what we want to do, what makes us proud and happy and what will we become. We grew up, and things seemed like having their own way. We accept our success or failures and we move on. The rapid change, the need to do the urgent things, the works, the pressures and the failures, all kill part of our visions.Things have changed, but they cannot really take away the dreams. We still have to dream on, to visualize our desires, our wants, our vision of our future, even when we are considered too old for such things.Cornell Sanders started his business when he was sixty, and started the whole successful KFC business. The main thing is not the age whether being too old, or too young, but it is the desire to dream on, and the courage to realize it.The ability to dream on is one of the fine qualities of human race that other species do not possess. So dream on, and put a deadline: make it a giant dream, a tiny one, an old everlasting one, a new-found one, a hobby-related one, a change of life one, a religious one, a stupid one, a stroke of genius one, or just whatever... just continue to dream on... Then, Just Go and Do It!We Were Dear to Each OtherStray birds of summer come to my window to sing and fly away. And yellow leaves of autumn, which have no songs, flutter and fall there with a sign.O Troupe of little vagrants of the world, leave your footprintsin my words. The world puts off its mask of vastness to its lover. It becomes small as one song,as one kiss of the eternal. It is the tears of the earth that keep her smiles in bloom. The mighty desert is burning for the love of a blade of grass who shakes her head and laughs and flies away.If you shed tears when you miss the sun,you also miss the stars. The sands in your way beg for your song and your movement, dancing water,Will you carry the burden of their lameless? Her wishful face haunts my dreams like the rain at night.Once we dreamt that we were strangers. We wake up to find that we were dear to each other.适合学生晨读的.英语美文篇5"On the 14th of March, at a quarter to three in the afternoon, the greatest living thinker ceased to think. He had been left alone for scarcely two minutes, and when we came back we found him in his armchair, peacefully gone to sleep-but forever."An immeasurable loss has been sustained both by the militant proletariat of Europe and America, and by historical science, in the death of this man. The gap that has been left by the departure of this mighty spirit will soon enough make itself felt."Just as Darwin discovered the law of development of organic nature, so Marx discovered the law of development of human history: the simple fact, hitherto concealed by an overgrowth of ideology, that mankind must first of all eat, drink, have shelter and clothing, before it can pursue politics, science, art, religion, etc.; that therefore the production of the immediatematerial means of subsistence and consequently the degree of economic development attained by a given people or during a given epoch form the foundation upon which the state institutions, the legal conceptions, art, and even the ideas on religion, of the people concerned have been evolved, and in the light of which they must, therefore, be explained, instead of vice versa, as had hitherto been the case."But that is not all. Marx also discovered the special law of motion governing the present-day capitalist mode of production and the bourgeois society that this mode of production has created. The discovery of surplus value suddenly threw light on the problem, in trying to solve which all previous investigations, of both bourgeois economists and socialist critics, had been groping in the dark."Two such discoveries would be enough for one lifetime. Happy the man to whom it is granted to make even one such discovery. But in every single field which Marx investigated -- and he investigated very many fields, none of them superficially -- in every field, even in that of mathematics, he made independent discoveries.适合学生晨读的英语美文篇6What is life? What is the purpose of life? Purpose cannot say unimportant, the purpose decides the direction of life, but life is not equal to the purpose, life is still toward the purpose of the whole process, life is a process! Ah, this is the simplest and most unnoticed mistake. The goal of life is our eternal tomorrow, our life is always today, is now, is fleeting now!The person who has the goal is the person who lives meaningfully, the person who can value the process of life itself and grasp the process is the person who lives fully and truthfully-- "never live a lifetime!" It should be both objective and process quality. The goal is to say, aim high, start from the province, people will get the ideal education. However, many people live for a lifetime. In the end, they do not have the pleasure of life process and enjoy life, which is a lack of life consciousness and introspection. The ups and downs of life, the realization of each situation, not pleased by external gains not saddened by personal losses, gain and loss are the blessings of life.Life is full of ups and downs. But we often use a kind of benefit coordinate to judge the condition of life. The forward is positive, the back is negative, the rise is superior, and the sinking is bad. In fact, life is far more complex than this coordinate, and the life interest in the ups and downs is far from being a single one.People are eager to get promoted, to cherish their fame, and to expect the speed of their goals. Life in this way, the process of life more and more neglected, become a kind of look forward to return to pay, to target cost, even the computer can unwanted files, just because of the need to speed up! Acceleration is the commonest common behavior in economic society, because the benefit is directly related to the speed. We also remember that "time is money, benefit is life", and life here is the life of enterprises and social groups, not people! If the pursuit of social benefits becomes the personal life process, that is what we often call alienation; The disease of life process rhythm is another kind of life state, when it is the realm of the individual life to emit light, disease has the beauty of disease, slow and gentle beauty.Wang wei has a famous sentence: "the grass withered eagle eye disease, the snow to the horse's hoof light." The flash of life is not necessarily the time when the grass grows; When life isgood, it is not always the step back. Similarly, du fu's famous sentence: "the fine rain fish out, the breeze swallow the slope." In the smooth and slow, write out the life calm, also write the love and joy of life. In his life, du fu did not have a chance to rise to the ground, but his soothing and peaceful life felt through thousands of years, slowly like rain, moistening our hearts.适合学生晨读的英语美文篇7If somebody tells you, " I'll love you for ever," will you believe it?I don't think there's any reason not to. we are ready to believe such commitment at the moment, whatever change may happen afterwards. As for the belief in an everlasting love, that's another thing. Then you may be asked whether there is such a thing as an everlasting love. I'd answer i believe in it. But an everlasting love is not immutable. You may unswervingly love or be loved by a person. But love will change its composition with the passage of time. It will not remain the same. In the course of your growth and as a result of your increased experience, love will become something different to you.In the beginning you believed a fervent love for a person could last indefinitely. By and by, however," fervent" gave way to " prosaic" . Precisely because of this change it became possible for love to last. Then what was meant by an everlasting love would eventually end up in a sort of interdependence. We used to insist on the difference between love and liking. The former seemed much more beautiful than the latter. one day, however, it turns out there's really no need to make such difference. Liking is actually a sort of love. By the same token, theeverlasting interdependence is actually an everlasting love.I wish i could believe there was somebody who would love me forever. That's, as we all know, too romantic to be true. Instead, it will more often than not be a case of lasting relationship.适合学生晨读的英语美文篇8Friday and the ThirteenthFriday-the Thirteenth has long been considered extremely unlucky because it has some bad associations which came from mythology, tale of the Bible, and the customs and habits. According to the Bible, the Lord God created the first man,Adam. Then he took a rib from Adam's body and out of it created the first woman, Eve. It was said that Adam was created on a Friday and it was on Friday that Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit, and on a Friday they died.Friday was also the common day in England for executing criminals , for which it was sometimes known as Hanging Day.From the old Norse myth people got the idea that 13 people sitting at a table to have a dinner was unlucky. And this superstition was confirmed by the last supper of Christ and his disciples. Bible tells us that Christ sat down with his 12 disciples, which made up the number 13, at the last supper when Judas, one of the 12 disciples , sold his master for thirty pieces of silver. Christ was killed by nailing on the cross the following day on a Friday.适合学生晨读的英语美文篇9One day, the time management expert lectured to a group of business school students. He made a demonstration at the scene, which left a lasting impression on the students.Standing in front of students with high iqs, he said, let's takea quiz. Take out a one-gallon jar and set it on the table in front of him. Then he took out a bunch of fist-sized rocks and carefully placed them in a jar. When the jar was over the top of the jar and no more rocks could fit in, he asked, "is the jar full?" All students should say: "full!" . The time management expert replied, "really?" He reached under the table and pulled out a bucket of gravel. He poured some of the gravel in, and tapped the glass bottle wall to fill the gap between the stones. "Is the jar full now? "He asked the second time. But this time the students understood, "probably not," one student said. "Good! Experts say. He reached under the table and pulled out a bucket of sand. The sand is filled with all the gaps between the rock and the gravel. Once more he asked the question, "is this jar full?" "No! "Shouted the students. Once again he said, "good! Then he took a pitcher of water and poured it into the jar until it was flat. Looking up at the students, he asked, "what is the point of this illustration?" One eager student raised his hand and said, "no matter how tight your schedule is, if you work hard, you can do more!" "No!" The time management expert said, "that's not what it really means. This example tells us that if you didn't blow up the rock first, you couldn't put it in the bottle anymore. So, what are the big rocks in your life? Spend time with the people you love, your beliefs, education, dreams? Remember to deal with these big rocks first, otherwise, you can't do it all your life!So tonight, perhaps this morning, you are reading this essay, and you have tried to ask yourself this question: what is the "big rock" in my life? When the reporter asked him why he had achieved such a remarkable feat, he said: "wisdom has triumphed over our opponents."This a yamada explained in his autobiography that he's "wisdom" : every time before the game, I have to drive circuitry of the game, read it carefully and draw more prominent signs of along the way, such as the first signs of a bank; The second sign is a big tree; The third sign is a red house, which is always drawn to the end of the race. After the game started, I raced to the first goal with the speed of 100 meters, and after reaching the first goal, I rushed to the second goal at the same speed. Forty miles of the race, I broke down into a few small goals to easily run out. At first, I did not understand this truth, I put my forty kilometers and aiming at the end of the line of the flag, the result when I ran to 10 kilometers of exhausted, I was in front of the distant journey scares. In real life, we are do things by halves, why, often not because of difficult, but think success is too far away from us, to be exact, we don't give up because of failure, but because of who I am tired and lost.适合学生晨读的英语美文篇11Sitting on a grassy grave, beneath one of the windows of the church, was a little girl. With her head bent back she was gazing up at the sky and singing, while one of her little hands was pointing to a tiny cloud that hovered like a golden feather above her head. The sun, which had suddenly become very bright, shining on her glossy hair, gave it a metallic luster, and it was difficult to saywhat was the color, dark bronze or black. So completely absorbed was she in watching the cloud to which her strange song or incantation seemedaddressed, that she did not observe me when I rose and went towards her.Over her head, high up in the blue, a lark that was soaring towards the same gauzy cloud was singing, as if in rivalry. As I slowly approached the child, I could see by her forehead, which in the sunshine seemed like a globe of pearl, and especially by her complexion, that she uncommonly lovely. Her eyes, which at one moment seemed blue-gray, at another violet, were shaded by long black lashes, curving backward in a most peculiar way, and these matched in hue her eyebrows, and the tresses that were tossed about her tender throat were quivering in the sunlight. All this I did not take in at once; for at first I could see nothing but those quivering, glittering, changeful eyes turned up into my face.Gradually the other features, especially the sensitive full-lipped mouth, grew upon me as I stood silently gazing. Here seemed to me a more perfect beauty than had ever come to me in my loveliest dreams of beauty.Yet it was not her beauty so much as the look she gave me that fascinated me, melted me.适合学生晨读的英语美文篇12A great life doesn’t happen by accid ent. Sitcoms usually consist of recurring characters in a format in which there are one or more humorous story lines centred on a common environment, such as a family home or workplace. The situation comedy format seems to have originated in the old time radio era of the United States, but today they are produced around the globe. Many countries, such as Britain, have embraced the form and so sitcoms have become among the most popular programmes on the schedule.history,The situation comedy format originated on radio in the 1920s. The first situation comedy is often said to be Sam and Henry which debuted on the Chicago, Illinois clear-channel station WGN in 1926, and was partially inspired by the notion of bringing the mix of humor and continuity found in comic strips to the young medium of radio. The first network situation comedy was Amos & Andy which debuted on CBS in 1928, and was one of the most popular sitcoms through the 1930s.Situation comedies have been a part of the landscape of broadcast television since its early days. The first was probably Mary Kay and Johnny, a fifteen minute sitcom which debuted on the DuMont Television Network in November of 1947.This type of entertainment seemed to originate in the United States, which continues to be a leading producer of the genre, but soon spread to other nations.Characteristics Traditionally, situation comedies were largely self-contained, in that the characters themselves remained largely static and events in the sitcom resolved themselves by the conclusion of the show. One example of this is the animated situation comedy The Simpsons, where the characteristics of animation has rendered the characters unchanging in appearance forever?although the characters in the show have sometimes made knowing references to this. Other sitcoms, though, use greater or lesser elements of ongoing storylines: Friends, a hugely popular US sitcom of the 1990s, contains soap opera elements such as regularly resorting to an end-of-season cliffhanger, and has gradually developed the relationships of the characters. Other sitcoms have veered intosocial commentary. Examples of these are sitcoms by Norman Lear including All in the Family and Maude in the US, and the controversial Till Death Us Do Part in Britain. Most contemporary situation comedies are filmed with a multicamera setup in front of a live audience, then edited and broadcast days or weeks later. This practice has not always been universal, however, especially prior to the 1970s when it became more common. Some comedies, such as M*A*S*H, were not filmed before a studio audience.。

英语散文篇一The Song of the River河之歌W.S Maugham毛姆You hear it all along the river. You hear it, loud and strong, from the rowers as they urge the junk with its high stern, the mast lashed alongside, down the swift running stream. You hear it from the trackers, a more breathless chant, as they pull desperately against the current, half a dozen of them perhaps if they are taking up wupan, a couple of hundred if they are hauling a splendid junk, its square sail set, over a rapid.
On the junk, a man stands amidships beating a drum incessantly to guide their efforts, and they pull with all their strength, like men possessed, bent double; and sometimes in the extremity of their travail they craw on the ground, on all fours, like the beasts of the field. They strain, strain fiercely, against the pitiless might of the stream.船中央站着一个汉子不停地击鼓助威,引导他们加劲。

"Well, my friend, let us run a race and see which of us will win. Let us run up to the top of that hill," said Mrs. Tortoise. "All right!" said Mr. Hare. So they started a race. Mrs. Tortoise walked with a slow, steady pace, up to the top of the hill. She never stopped a moment. But Mr. Hare ran, almost flying like an arrow. On the way he often stopped to eat grass. When he went halfway up the hill, he lay down for a nap, saying,"If Mrs. Tortoise passes by me, | can easily catch up with her." When he awoke and looked around, he could not see her. Then he ran up the hill as fast as he could, and at the very top, he found Mrs. Tortoise at rest. She had won her success. "Slow and steady wins the race.""Slow and steady wins the race."晨读美文篇三、There are lives that have bread in abundance and yet are starved; with barns and ware houses filled, with shelves and larders laden they are empty and hungry. No man need envy them; their feverish, restless whirl in the dust of publicity is but the search for a satisfaction never to be found in things. They are called rich in a world where no others are more truly, pitiably poor; having all, they are yet lacking in all because they have neglected the things within. The abundance of bread is the cause of many a man's deeper hunger.Having known nothing of the discipline that develops life's hidden sources of satisfaction, nothing of the struggle in which deep calls unto deep and the true life finds itself, he spends his days seeking to satisfy his soul with furniture, with houses and lands, with yachts and merchandise, seeking to feed his heart on things, a process of less promise and reason than feeding a snapping turtle on thoughts. It takes many of us altogether too long to learn that you cannot find satisfaction so long as you leave the soul out of your reckoning. If the heart be empty the life cannot be filled. The flow must cease at the faucet if the fountains go dry.The prime, the elemental necessities of our being are for the life rather than the body, its house. But, alas, how often out of the marble edifice issues the poor emaciated inmate, how out of the life having many things comes that which amounts to nothing. The essential things are not often those which most readily strike our blunt senses. We see theshell first. To the undeveloped mind the material is all there is. But looking deeper into life there comes an awakening to the fact and the significance of the spiritual, the feeling that the reason, the emotions, the joys and pains that have nothing to do with things, the ties that knit one to the infinite, all of which constitute the permanent elements of life.晨读美文篇四、I was up before the sunrise one October morning, and away through the wild and the woodland. The rising of the sun was noble in the cold and warmth of it; peeping down the spread of light, he raised his shoulder heavily over the edge of gray mountain and wavering length of upland. Beneath his gaze the dew-fogs dipped and crept to the hollow places, then stole away in line and column, holding skirts and clinging subtly at the sheltering corners where rock hung over grass-land, while the brave lines of the hills came forth, one beyond other gliding. The woods arose, like drapery of awakened mountains, stately with a depth of awe, and memory of the tempests. Autumn's mellow hand was upon them, as they owned already, touched with gold and red and olive, and their joy towards the sun was less to a bridegroom than a father. Yet before the floating impress of the woods could clear itself, suddenly the gladsome light leaped over hill and valley, casting amber, blue, and purple, and a tint of rich red rose, according to the scene they lit on, and the curtain flung around; yet all alike dispelling fear and the cloven hoof of darkness, all on the wings of hope advancing, and proclaiming, "God is here!" Then life and joy sprang reassured from every crouching hollow; every flower and bud and bird had a fluttering sense of them, and all the flashing of God's gaze merged into soft beneficence. So, perhaps, shall break upon us that eternal morning, when crag and chasm shall be no more, neither hill and valley, nor great ocean; when glory shall not scare happiness, neither happiness envy glory; but all things shall arise, and shine in the light of the Father's countenance, because itself is risen.晨读美文篇五、Figure it out for yourself, my lad. You have got all that the great have had: two arms, two legs, two hands, two eyes, and a brain to use if you'd be wise. With this equipment they all began, so start for the top and say" I can".Look them over the wise and the great. They take their food from a common plate. With similar knives and forks they use; with similar laces they tie their shoes. The world considers them brave and smart, but you know——you have got all they had when they made their start. You can triumph and come to skill; you can be great if you only will. You are well equipped for the fight you choose you have arms and legs and brains to use. And people who have risen, great deeds to do started their lives with no more than you.You are the handicap you must face. You are the one who must choose your place. You must say where you want to go, and how much you will study the truth to know. God has equipped you for life, but he lets you decide what you want to be.The courage must come from the soul within; you must furnish the will to win. So figure it out for yourself, my lad; you were born with all the great have had; with yourequipment they all began. Get hold of yourself and say" I can".。

英语经典晨读美文英语经典晨读美文1It happened in one of those picturesque Danish taverns that cater to tourists and where English is spoken. I was with my father on a business-and-pleasure trip, and in our leisure hours we were having a wonderful time. "It's a pity your mother couldn't come," said Father. "It would be wonderful to show her around."He had visited Denmark when he was a young man. I asked him, "How long is it since you were here?""Oh, about 30 years. I remember being in this very inn, by the way." He looked around, remembering. "Those were gracious days-" He stopped suddenly, and I saw that his face was pale. I followed his eyes and looked across the room to a woman who was setting a tray of drinks before some customers. She might have been pretty once, but now she was stout and her hair was untidy. "Do you know her?" I asked. "I did once," he said. The woman came to our table. "Drinks?" she inquired. "We'll have beer," I said. She nodded and went away. "How she has changed! Thank heaven she didn't recognize me," muttered Father mopping his face with a handkerchief. "I knew her before I ever met your mother, "he went on. "I was a student, on a tour. She was a lovely young thing, very graceful. I fell madly in live with her, and she with me.""Does Mother know about her?" I blurted out, resentfully. "Of course," Father said gently. He looked at me a little anxiously. I felt embarrassed for him. I said, "Dad, you don't have to-""Oh, yes, I want to tell you. I don't want you wondering about this. Her father objected to our romance. I was a foreigner. I had no prospects, and was dependent on my father. When I wrote Father that Iwanted to get married he cut off my allowance. And I had to go home. But I met the girl once more, and told her I would return to America, borrow enough money to get married on, and come back for her in a few months.""We know," he continued, "that her father might intercept a letter, so we agreed that I would simply mail her a slip of paper with a date on it, the time she was to meet me at a certain place; then we'd married. Well, I went home, got the loan and sent her the date. She received the note. She wrote me:" I'll be there." But she wasn't. Then I found that she had been married about two weeks before, to a local innkeeper. She hadn't waited."Then my father said," Thank God she didn't. I went home, met your mother, and we've been completely happy. We often joke about that youthful love romance." The woman appeared with our beer. "You are from America?" she asked me. "Yes," I said. She beamed. "A wonderful country, America.""Yes, a lot of your countrymen have gone there. Did you everthink of it?""Not me. Not now," she said. "I think so one time, a ling time ago. But I stay here. It much better here."We drank our beer and left. Outside I said," Father, just how did you write that date on which she was to meet you?"He stopped, took out an envelope and wrote on it. "Like this," he said. "12/11/73, which was, of course, December 11, 1973." "No!" I exclaimed. "It isn't in Denmark or any European country. Over here they write the day first, then the month. So that date wouldn't be December 11 but the 12th of November!" Father passed his hand over his face. "So she was there!" he exclaimed. "And it was because Ididn't show up that she got married." He was silent a while. "Well," he said."I hope she's happy. She seems be."As we resumed walking I blurted out, "It is a lucky thing it happened that way. You wouldn't have met Mother." He put his arm around my shoulders, looked at me with a heart-warming smile, and said, "I was doubly lucky, young fellow, for otherwise I wouldn't have met you, either!"英语经典晨读美文2Petey hadn't really believed that Dad would be doing It - sending Granddad away. "Away" was what they were calling it.Not until now could he believe it of his father. But here was the blanket that Dad had bought for Granddad, and in the morning he'd be going away. This was the last evening they'd be having together. Dad was off seeing that girl he was to marry. He would not be back till late, so Petey and Granddad could sit up and talk. It was a fine September night, with a silver moon riding high. They washed up the supper dishes and then took their chairs out onto the porch. "I'll get my fiddle," said the old man, "and play you some of the old tunes."But instead of the fiddle he brought out the blanket. It was a big double blanket, red with black stripes. "Now, isn't that a fine blanket!" said the old man, smoothing it over his knees. "And isn't your father a kind man to be giving the old fellow a blanket likethat to go away with? It cost something, it did-look at the wool ofit! There'll be few blankets there the equal of this one!"It was like Granddad to be saying that. He was trying to make it easier. He had pretended all along that he wanted to go away to the great brick building-the government place. There he'd be with so many other old fellows, having the best of everything. . . . But Peteyhadn't believed Dad would really do it, not until this night when he brought home the blanket. "Oh, yes, it's a fine blanket," said Petey. He got up and went into the house. He wasn't the kind to cry and, besides, he was too old for that. He'd just gone in to fetch Granddad's fiddle. The blanket slid to the floor as the old man took the fiddle and stood up. He tuned up for a minute, and then said, "This is oneyou'll like to remember."Petey sat and looked out over the gully. Dad would marry that girl. Yes, that girl who had kissed Petey and fussed over him, saying she'd try to be a good mother to him, and all. . . .The tune stopped suddenly. Granddad said, "It's a fine girl your father's going to marry. He'll be feeling young again with a pretty wife like that. And what would an old fellow like me be doing around their house, getting in the way? An old nuisance, what with my talks of aches and pains. It's best that I go away, like I'm doing. One more tune or two, and then we'll be going to sleep. I'll pack up my blanket in the morning."They didn't hear the two people coming down the path. Dad had one arm around the girl, whose bright face was like a doll's. But they heard her when she laughed, right close by the porch. Dad didn't say anything, but the girl came forward and spoke to Granddad prettily: "I won't be here when you leave in the morning, so I came over to say good-bye.""It's kind of you," said Granddad, with his eyes cast down. Then, seeing the blanket at his feet, he stooped to pick it up. "And will you look at this," he said. "The fine blanket my son has given me to go away with."英语经典晨读美文3The ocean covers three quarters of the earths surface, produces 90 percentof allits life-supporting oxygen, and is the driving force behind the entireweather system. There are over 450 million cubic miles of sea water on theearth; and each cubic mile contains over 150 million tons of minerals. So vast and so pervasive is the sea that if the earths crust were made level, ocean water would form a blanket over 8,000 feet deep. The oceans contribute immeasurably to the earths life support system aswell as provide an untapped storehouse of food, minerals, energy, and ar-chaeological treasureAdvanced atmospheric diving suits permit researchers to descend to depthsofl,500 feet.Yet the oceans average depth is greater than 12,000 feet. It is atthese depths that remarkable discoveries are being made, discoveries whichonly a short time ago would have been impossible. In that depth, where darkness is absolute and pressure exceeds eight tons persquare inch, robotic submersibles have discovered enormous gorges, fourtimes deeper than the Grand Canyon Here, too, are volcanoes that vastlyoutnumber those on land.Landslides the size of Rhode Island have beenrecorded, as well as raging undersea storms that go completely unnoticed oitthe surface while dramatically rearranging the underwater landscapes. And under these seas the largest single geological feature on earth hasbeen found-a mountain range that dwarfs the Himalayas. Its a range thatcovers nearly one quarter of the earths surface. All these discoveries have come from the exploration ofless than one-tenthof this undersea mountain range. The earth is the only planet we know that has an ocean. The oceanis tlielargest feature on earth. Yet its the one feature we know the least about. Weknow more about the moon 240,000 miles away than we know about thethree-fourths of the earth covered with water. Man has set foot on the moon, but not on the most remote part of the earth, 35,000 feet under the sea. Technology is changing all that. Its literally parting the waves for todaysundersea explorers. And its bringing about the opportunity to transformvision, curiosity and wonder into practical knowledge. Properly managed as a tool to serve society, technology is the best hopefor overcoming economic and social problems facing people everywhere. Italways has been. The earliest relics of human life are tools. And our ancientancestors used these tools to understand and change the world around themand make it better. The same is true today. His Father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn't lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, "You have done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a scar just like this one. You can put a knife in a man and draw it out. It won't matter how many times you say I'm sorry, the wound is still there."篇二、晨读英语美文范文"Everything happens for the best," my mother saidwhenever faced disappointment. I hitchhiked to Chicagoand knocked on the door of every station -and got turned down every time.In one studio, a kind lady told me that big stations couldn't risk hiring inexperienced person. "Go out in the sticks and find a small station that'll give you a chance," she said.I thumbed home to Dixon, Illinois. While there was no radio-announcing jobs in Dixon, myfather said Montgomery Ward had opened a store and wanted a local athlete to manage itssports department. Since Dixon was where I had played high school football, I applied. The jobsounded just right for me. But I wasn't hired. My disappointment must have shown. "Everything happens for the best," Mom reminded me. Dad offered me the car to hunt for a job. I tried WOC Radio in Davenport, Iowa. The programdirector, a wonderful Scotsman named Peter MacArthur, told me they had already hired anannouncer. As I left his office, my frustration boiled over. I asked aloud, "How can a fellow get to be asport announcer if he can't get a job in a radio station? "I was waiting for the elevator when I heard MacArthur calling, "What was that you said aboutsports? Do you know anything about football? " Then he stood me before a microphone andasked me to broadcast an imaginary game.On my way home, as I have many times since, I thought of my mother's words: "if you carryon, one day something good will happen. Something wouldn't have happened if not for thatprevious disappointment" I often wonder what direction my life might have taken if I'dgotten the job at Montgomery Ward. 篇三、晨读英语美文范文Motion pictures are most popular not only in the United States, but throughout the world.Although color television and video recording are gaining greater popularity and may be threatening the future of the movies, motion pictures have somewhat managed to cope with the film crisis in the seventies and remain one of the favorite forms of entertainment of the people. There are 11,000 motion picture theaters, or cinema, and about 4,000 outdoor "drive-ins", where people sit in their own automobiles and watch domestic and foreign films. Heavy use of the highways in the United States has resulted in the rapid development of what we call roadside business of various kinds, including outdoor movie theaters, or drive-ins, and motels. Both outdoor drive-ins and motels are usually located on main roads near cities and at seaside and other resort areas. In a drive-in, an enormous screen is put up in an open space, and the cars are all parked facing the screen in long rows. When you have parked, you may open the car window and bring in the instrument that is being handed over to you which gives the sound that accompanies the picture, and perhaps bring in a heater, too. If it is cold, you may well shut the window again, with the sound-reproducing device inside the car, so that you can hear while watching the big screen in front of your car. Drive-in cinemas usually have some kind of cafe in the area, and you can buy Coca-Cola and coffee to drink in the car.The first drive-in was opened on June 6, 1933 in Camden, New Jersey. Newspapers of the period suggested that the automobile movie theater was an immediate success. On the opening night it was jammed to capacity with six hundred cars. The initial advertisement didn't mention the name of the film tobe shown that night, and the people didn't care. The real attraction was clearly the theater itself. Since that night, drive-ins have been welcomed by the people across the whole country.。

晨读英语美文篇一:
One of the most famous monuments in the world, the Statue of Liberty, was presented to the United States of America in the nineteenth century by the people of France. The great statue, which was designed by the sculptor Auguste Bartholdi, took ten years to complete. The actual figure was made of copper supported by a metal framework which had been especially constructed by Eiffel. Before it could be transported to the United States, a site had to be found for it and a pedestal had to be built. The site chosen was an island at the entrance of New York Harbour. By 1884, a statue which was 151 feet tall had been erected in Paris. The following year, it was taken to pieces and sent to America. By the end of October 1886, the statue had been put together again and it was officially presented to the American people by Bartholdi. Ever since then, the great monument has been a symbol of liberty for the millions of people who have passed through New York Harbour to make their homes in America.

晨读英语美文篇二:
It must have been about two in the morning when I returned home. I tried to wake up my wife by ringing the doorbell, but she was fast asleep, so I got a ladder from the shed in the garden, put it against the wall, and began climbing towards the bedroom window. I was almost there when a sarcastic voice below said, 'I don't think the windows need cleaning at this time of the night.' I looked down and nearly fell off the ladder when I saw a policeman. I immediately regretted answering in the way I did, but I said, 'I enjoy cleaning windows at night.'
'So do I,' answered the policeman in the same tone. 'Excuse my interrupting you. I hate to interrupt a man when he's busy working, but would you mind coming with me to the station?' 'Well, I'd prefer to stay here,' I said. 'You see. I've forgotten my key.'
'Your what?' he called.
'My key,' I shouted.
Fortunately, the shouting woke up my wife who opened the window just as the policeman had started to climb towards me.

我低头一看,差点从梯子上掉下来时,我看到一个警察。
我立刻后悔我做了这样的回答,我说,"我喜欢在夜里擦窗子。

我忘记带我的钥匙了。

晨读英语美文篇三:
Tired of sleeping on the floor, a young man in Teheran saved up for years to buy a real bed. For the first time in his life, he became the proud owner of a bed which had springs and a mattress. Because the weather was very hot, he carried the bed on to the roof of his house. He slept very well for the first two nights, but on the third night, a storm blew up. A gust of wind swept the bed off the roof and sent it crashing into the courtyard below. The young man did not wake up until the bed had struck the ground. Although the bed was smashed to pieces, the man was miraculously unhurt. When he woke up, he was still on the mattress. Glancing at the bits of wood and metal that lay around him, the man sadly picked up the mattress and carried it into his house. After he had put it on the floor, he promptly went to sleep again.
