The Basics of Pneumatic Conveying How It WorksThe two most distinct categories ofpneumatic conveying can be described aseither low pressure or high pressuresystems.The first category is low pressure systems,sometimes referred to as dilute phasepneumatic conveying systems. Thesesystems utilize air pressure under 15 PSIGand use either positive or negative pressureto push or pull materials through theconveying line at relatively high velocities.They are described as low pressure/highvelocity systems and have a high air tomaterial ratio.If you look at a typical low pressure systemusing a rotary air lock feeder, you willnotice a high pickup velocity of around2500 feet per minute at the beginning ofthe system, and about 6000 feet per minuteat the end. The conveying line pressure isunder 15 PSIG at the beginning versusnear atmospheric pressure at the end.Low pressure systems generally use a lowpressure positive displacement blower or afan as the power source.The second category is high pressuresystems, generally known as dense phasesystems. These systems utilize airpressures above 15 PSIG and use positivepressure to push materials through theconveying line at relatively low velocities,much like extruding. They are generallydescribed as high pressure/low velocitysystems and have a low air to materialratio.If you look at a typical high pressuresystem using a high pressure vessel tomaintain conveying pressure, you willnotice a low pickup or starting velocity atabout 50 feet per minute and a higher conveying velocity at the end of the system at about 500 feet per minute. The conveying line pressure at the beginning of the system is typically at about 45 PSIG versus the pressure at the end of the system, which is at zero.High pressure systems generally use a high pressure air compressor as the power source.Because high pressure or dense phase systems are so versatile, Dynamic Air offers four basic concepts. Each concept is particularly suited to certain applications and materials. The Brute Force Concept consists of a pressure vessel, which is referred to as a transporter, and a conveying line.During the filling cycle, material is charged into the transporter through an inflatable seated butterfly valve. Displaced air isvented up through a vent valve to allow easier filling and to prevent any back pressure that would retard material flow.Once the transporter is filled, as signaled by a level control or weighing device, the inlet and vent valves close and seal. Then, all the high pressure air required to convey a given product, regardless of distance, is gradually introduced through the top of the transporter during the conveying cycle.The compressed air introduced into the transporter mixes with material and is forced through the conveying line. The Conventional Concept system is a batch type conveying system that consists of a transporter, conveying line and Dyna-Chek® 4 booster fittings.During the filling cycle, material gravity feeds into the transporter through an inflatable seated butterfly valve. Displaced air is vented up through a vent valve to allow easier filling. Once the transporter is filled, assignaled by a level control or weighing device, the inlet valve and vent valve close and seal. The only compressed air that enters the transport vessel is the air that is used for material displacement. All other air required for conveying is added through the Dyna-Chek 4 booster fittings.A cross-section of the Dyna-Chek 4 booster fitting shows how the diaphragm modulates to add air to the conveying line as it is required. The diaphragm, which acts as a check valve, allows the compressed air to enter into the conveying line while preventing material from back-feeding into the air supply lines. This is crucial to the reliability of the booster fitting and to overall system performance. The spacing of the Dyna-Chek 4 booster fittings is completely dependent on the complexity of the material being conveyed. 在密相气力输送行业占有主导地位的空气动力公司是专注于对干燥和散装物料的气力输送的研究。
其应用范围包括从食品到药物,从轻气态二氧化硅到重金属粉末。
然而,所有这些应用都有一个共同的特点:必须控制运输的速度。
从而控制粒子下沉,减少输送管道的磨损,使空气量最小化以及减少管道堵塞。
一.什么是气力输送?
气力输送就是沿管道形成压差使散装物料随压缩空气一起流向压力低的地方。
这种压差可以通过抽取真空或者通过在输送管道一端或者沿着管道注入压缩空气来实现。
二、稀相与密相气力输送的对比
气力输送最明显的两种分类就是低压式(稀相)和高压式(密相)系统。
第一类,低压系统,称作稀相气力输送系统,该系统使用压力一般低于15磅/平方英寸(约合0.1Mpa,1Psig=6894.75Pa)。
这些系统使用正压或负压在输送管道内以相对高的速度推或拉物料(见图一)。
输送系统中气体量高于物料比例,因而被称为低压高速输送系统。

第二种,高压输送系统,通常称为密相气力输送.输送压力高于0.1MPa.系统使用正压将物料以相对低的速度在输送管道内推进。
(见图二)由于空气量低于物料比例,因而叫做高压低速输送系统。

三、为什么是密相?
就定义而言,密相气力输送仅仅是指用较少量气体在输送管道内来缓慢移动较多的散装物料,就像是挤压。
稀相输送系统通常使用较多的空气以较高速度输送较少量的悬浮流形式的物料,于此不同,密相输送提供了较多优势,有效地在输送管道内以相对低的速度将较密集而多的物料进行输送。
四、散料的气力输送系统
很多的物料处理厂需要长距离输送大量物料。
因而,输送系统中的能耗显得至关重要。
在气力输送中,能耗在输送系统的设计中均衡传输率和输送长度。
因此,运输距离为200m,每小时运输100T的输送系统和运输距离为100m,每小时运输200T的相同输送系统所消耗的能量是相同的。
由此可以看出,在气力输送系统中,输送距离和输送率对能耗由同样重要的影响。
在传统上,散料的气力输送效率较低,而现代物料处理厂需要一种更加高效的输送系统来减少能量消耗费用。
然而,能耗的节约却不能让电力成本降低。
低能耗也还有其他优点。
首先,如果一个输送系统的能耗低,它的保养费用就越少。
就好比是F1赛车和经济适用车,哪个需要保养少?哪个使用寿命因为轮胎、发动机的使用而更长?气力输送系统也是如此。
如果两个气力输送系统需要输送同样物料,同样的输送距离,其中一个比另一个的能耗低,那么低能耗的系统会有更少的磨损,配有更小的储尘器,产生更少的污染。
五、新一代密相气力输送系统
随着研究的快速发展,一种新的密相气力输送系统应运而生:带有DC-5节气控制技术的全线概念密相系统(见图三)。
DC-5节气技术是对运输管道内情况作出反应后将压缩空气自动注入到运输管道。

(附说明:HDP4000全线概念浓相正压系统是浓相、中高压力、中低速度、批量传输系统。
一般用于传输几乎任何粒度的中高密度、热敏感性、半磨蚀性和/或高磨蚀性、粘结性和/或高脆性物料。
例如硅砂、玻璃配料、砂糖、糖粉、细餐类谷物、咖啡豆、塑料粒、膨润土、水泥、淀粉、石英粉、球土、高岭粘土、氧化锌与矾土。
典型传输速度约为0.5-5米/秒,传输压力达7巴。
此概念输送管线的加料需要一个以最高密度加料的简单的、非流化型的压力容器,并且使用DC-5节气技术降低及优化,由高压空气压缩机提供最高7巴压力的高压空气。
此设备不需要换向阀,只需要使用接收阀,由于此阀位于易接近的料仓顶部,所以维护十分方便)
这种新技术通过使系统运输最大密度物料而将气体消耗减小到最小值。
(This means that the conveying pipe is as full as possible with cement, and not flowing dilute with cement as a vacuum cleaner would.)这种最大密度运输技术有三个主要的优势。
第一,由于输送管道和散料之间很密实,空气没法“滑”过散料,这在常规低效气力输送中却存在。
如果将气体在管道的滑过减少,就会提高运输效率。
第二,当输送管道内处于最大密度时,在任何时间内只有一小部分物料与管壁相接触,而大多数物料在管道内部,因而不会碰到管壁。
所以很大意义上减少了管道的磨损。
第三,通过增加管道内密度,运输速度可以降低给定的运输速量和管道直径。
输送量 Q(kg/s)可以这样来表达:
Q=PAV
P为输送密度,kg/m3
A为输送管道截面积,m2
V为运输速率,m/s
所以,计算可得V=Q/PA.
因而如果输送密度减少了,保持其它实参数不变,运输速率就会降低。
六、速度的控制带来许多好处
速度的控制是这种新技术的副产品。
由于压缩空气被输送在全程管道中,DC-5节气技术对输送速度提供了非常准确的控制。
这对以下三方面非常重要。
首先,就像轿车一样,在气力输送系统中能源的效率对运输速率有依赖性。
简言之,运输速率越低,空气利用率越高(见图4)。
第二,管道磨损随速度增加而增加,它们之间是立方比例关系,也就是说,如果速度提到两倍,那么管道磨损将是原来八倍。
所以,即便是将速度降低的很小,却能较大程度的减小磨损。
第三,或许是最不直观的一点,就是低的运输速度会降低运输管道堵塞的可能性。
多数人会持相反观点。
显然,如果你不想让你的车陷入泥中,你会让车快速行驶过去,对吧?相反的道理却适用于气力输送系统。
原因就是气力输送系统必须通过使用弯管来改变方向。
当运输物料到达弯管处时,由于弯管处的摩擦而减速。
如果物料移动的太快,当进入弯处时会迅速减速,使得输送物料积累,形成堵塞。
然而,如果运输速率较慢,这种降速就会显得微不足道。
我会用简单图表来表示。
以F1赛车速度行驶的车,在每一个转弯处需要急刹车,但是如果你骑着自行车在同样的轨道上,你几乎不用注意这个转弯,因为自行车的速度很低。
这就是为什么我们极力研究气力输送系统。

七、可靠性提高
最后,DC-5节气技术还带来了另一种很大的好处:可靠性。
由于压缩空气注入到全程管道中,当系统要发生堵塞时,DC-5节气技术能自动分配压缩空气以便打破堵塞。
这种系统能对传输状态进行自动反应。
而且能在运输管道任意处去除障碍。
尽管多数人倾向于对气力输送系统中的气体效率方面作研究,实际上可靠性或许更重要。
一个运行良好的输送系统即便在运输的物料不是那么理想时也能使运输正常运行。
八、新的带有DC-5节气技术的全线概念系统是如何工作呢?
一系列的DC-5节气控制门安装在运输管道线上。
每一个DC-5节气控制都能使运输空气进入到运输线中。
DC-5节气控制能达到控制传输速度和防止系统堵塞的
双重作用。
实际上,节气技术控制能减少全程的阻力。
每一个节气控制的效果形成了一种加强的力量。
所有的节气控制共同产生了强大的力量。
全线概念系统(带有DC-5节气控制)运行如下:
物料经过气控蝴蝶阀从存储仓中进入到气力发送罐中,交替进行的气体从通风阀中经过,使得物料更易充满。
一旦发送罐装满,高位控制器或者称量装置发出信号,将通风阀和气控进料阀关闭并密封。
此时出料阀打开,压缩空气进入到发送罐中代替输送物料的位置。
在整个输送线上,由DC-5节气控制的压缩空气注入到输送管道中。
当发送罐完全变空时,低位控制器发出信号,压缩空气被关掉,物料在管道中停止运输。
由于输送管道不能自我净化,在净化循环彻底去掉时,传统的典型输送系统中,通常还可以看到高速的物料。
由此使得全线概念系统特别适合磨料和易碎物料。
另外,由于全线保持充满状态,排空和填满之间没有时间的损失。
空气消耗量的大大减少使得该系统也特别适合长距离输送和单一材料的输送。
当输送线需要净化处理来保养或者当产品需要转换时,该系统又像传统系统那样运行
八、总结
现代物料运输厂家已变得更关注于能量的利用和输送系统的可靠性,他们需要更先进的运输系统来减少操作成本。
因此,今天的气力输送装置恰恰成为一种可用较少压缩空气运可靠运输物料的科技手段。
尽管系统略有昂贵,但在几年内操作成本的节约足以支付的起先进的气力输送系统。
