Unit 1: Greetings and Introductions
Lesson 1: Greetings
Objectives:
1. Students will learn to greet and respond to different people.
2. Students will be able to ask and answer about names.
3. Students will practice simple conversations and role play.
Materials: flashcards (with pictures of different people), name tags
for each student
Warm-up:
1. Greet the students as they come into the classroom and
encourage them to respond.
2. Discuss with the students what greeting means and why it is
important to greet each other.
Presentation:
1. Show the flashcards one by one and teach the students different
greetings for each person (e.g. "Hello, Miss Wang" or "Good
morning, Mr. Li").
2. Model the greetings and responses with a student volunteer.
3. Have the students practice the greetings in pairs using the
flashcards.
Practice:
1. Give each student a name tag with a different name written on it.
2. Have the students walk around the classroom and greet each
other using the appropriate greeting. 3. Encourage the students to ask and answer about each other's
names during the greetings.
Production:
1. Divide the students into pairs and assign them different roles
(e.g. teacher and student).
2. Have the pairs create their own conversations using the
greetings and names they learned.
3. Ask some pairs to perform their conversations in front of the
class.
Wrap-up:
1. Review the greetings and names learned in the lesson.
2. Ask the students to share their favorite part of the lesson.
Homework:
Write a short paragraph about your favorite person to greet and
why.
Assessment:
Observe the students' participation during the greetings and
conversations. Provide feedback and corrective guidance as needed.
This lesson aims to introduce the students to greetings in English
and to practice using them in conversations. The use of flashcards
and role play activities engages the students and allows for active
participation. The lesson also includes a warm-up and wrap-up to
generate interest and reinforce the lesson objectives.
