Persuasive Essay Outline

Hook, Introduction:

When we are telling a lie for the purpose of bringing happiness to a person, we can call it a white lie. But different people have different opinions of white lies. I think telling some lies can prevent people from being embarrassed or injured.

Thesis statement/position statement:

The white lie isn’t a real lie.

We all hate it when we are being lied to. But when someone tells you a white

lie, it means that their intention is good. We should learn to forgive and

appreciate white lies.

Significance/background:

Sometimes a white lie is very helpful, isn't it? In our society, there is filled

with unnumbered such examples. Take doctors for example, they confront such

urgent choices frequently. They are often in the dilemma of whether to tell the

patience who suffers from an incurable disease about his illness. At times,

doctors see important reasons to lie for the patient’s own sake. In their eyes,

such white lies differ sharply from self-serving ones. Most of them sincerely

believe that the seriously ill do not want to know the truth about their condition,

and that informing them risks destroys their hope, so that they may recover

more slowly, or deteriorate faster, perhaps even commit suicide.

Sometimes when I don’t feel well ,my friends may ask me what’s happened,

then my answer is always “nothing”. In my opinion, this is a “white lie”, but I just

don’t want them to worry about me .Sometimes they may feel a little annoyed,

just because my “white lie”, they hold the belief that there is no lie between good

friends ,including “white lies”.

For their own interests lie, it is take to cheat; Lie for the interests of others,

that is a fraud; In order to set up and lie, that is slander; Such are the worst lie;

And harmless to themselves and others are also no lie, that's not lying. It's just

fiction rather than lying.

-- -- Rousseau

Sometimes, a lie is very beautiful, her name is called "white lies".

- M Lucy zona

Argument/Evidence 1:

A white lie can bring us successes. A high school teacher declared he could forecast his students’ futures. In his

class, he often said: “Maria will be an artist, for she is good at drawing. Jack will

be an engineer, because he does well in designing …” In fact, the teacher was not

a god, but an average person. What he said was just white lies. But finally his

words became realties and most of his students became outstanding.

Argument/Evidence 2:

A white lie can make sadness more acceptable.

It is just like a naughty angel.

For example, a little girl’s father died in an accident, her mother would say:

“Your father has gone to another beautiful land.” Another example, a mother

were always telling her son who worked far away that she was very well and

even better than before . But in fact she suffered illnesses for a long time.

Knowing this, her honey would feel comfortable by reasonable excuses and live

happily.

Argument/Evidence 3:

The truth should be told as possibly as we can and telling lies is usually looked upon as an evil, but there is no harm in telling a white lie when it is necessary in our daily life.

Summary/Conclusion:

As a result of the above reasons and examples, we can definitely come into a

conclusion: “Sometimes a white lie is very helpful and useful. It is just like an

oasis which gives people hopes.

Recommendation:

Although sometimes a white lie is very helpful, we also need to carefully

consider whether telling a white lie can produce a better outcome. Maybe the

sick who has been concealed certain facts about his condition can recover at a

faster speed. Nothing will make up for the regret causing by the lie, although the

original intention is good. So please consider carefully, even if you just tell a

white lie!
