Objectives: 1) Identify the project team members 2) Prepare a draft Connection Plan and draft Connection Study Scope 3) Prepare a draft AESO project schedule 4) Schedule Internal and External Kickoff Meetings
Objectives: 1) Review draft Connection Plan and draft Connection Study Scope 2) Review draft AESO project schedule 3) Understand project team member roles 4) Identify project team expectations or requirements
Outcomes/Deliverables: 1) Connection Plan complete, ready for signoff 2) Connection Study Scope completion schedule & review meeting(s) scheduled 3) Roles and accountabilities are understood between all parties 4) Project coordinator updates AESO project schedule
Expectations: 1) Attendees of the External Kickoff Meeting are: AESO project coordinator AESO studies engineer AESO project team members as required Customer TFO 2) Hold External Kickoff Meeting with the customer within 3 weeks of Gate 0 Completion Acknowledgement 3) Finalize the Connection Plan & review Connection Study Scope input required 4) Schedule a Connection Study Scope review meeting. The goal is to complete the Connection Study Scope within 3 weeks of the External Kickoff Meeting. 5) Discuss and incorporate customer’s input on the schedule, scope, strategy and risk.
Outcome/Deliverables: 1) Draft Connection Plan and Draft Connection Study Scope 2) Draft AESO project schedule to identify the project activities that meet the customer’s requested in-service date or an alternate inservice date tDeliverables: 1) Project team commitment to the schedule, based upon the current scope, assumptions, strategy and risk 2) AESO position on AESO role in the Connection Proposal completion clear 3) Required updates to the draft Connection Plan and draft Connection Study Scope clarified and assigned 4) Project coordinator sends External Kickoff Meeting participants the update draft Connection Plan and draft Connection Study Scope
Objectives: 1) Introduce the AESO project coordinator and project studies engineer and clarify customer, AESO, TFO/consultant roles 2) Review the Connection Process High Level Overview diagram and inform the customer of the Connecting to the Grid and Connection Queue sections of the AESO website 3) Review and finalize the Connection Plan 4) Clarify required input from each party for the Connection Study Scope
Expectations: 1) The project coordinator will know the customer’s requested inservice date and project number 2) The Technical Resource Manager will assign a project studies engineer, project modeling engineer, and project engineer 3) Schedule the Internal and External Kickoff Meetings The Internal Kickoff Meeting should be held within 2 weeks of Gate 0 Completion Acknowledgement The External Kickoff Meeting should be held within 3 weeks of Gate 0 Completion Acknowledgement 4) Distribute the System Access Service Request, the project Connection Plan and Connection Study Scope templates to the project team members for review and request they begin populating the documents prior for review at the Internal Kickoff Meeting 5) Project team members review and populate their sections of the Connection Plan and Connection Study Scope – team member discussions should take place as required 6) Consideration of AESO role in Connection Proposal development should be given according to these guidelines: Degree of integration with future undefined or evolving system development plans Involvement of multiple TFO / DFO jurisdictions Size of generator or load and potential system reinforcement impacts or requirements Interdependency/integration of other connection projects Requirement for system vs. customer allocation determination that will impact project feasibility Requirement for future system reliability considerations/ specifications Load customers can choose to have AESO complete the Connection Proposal, Generators cannot choose 7) Discuss the project scope with the TFO in the area if required
Expectations: 1) Invite the project team members as identified during the Kickoff Meeting Preparation 2) Project coordinator obtains commitment to complete the draft Connection Plan and draft Connection Study Scope prior to External Kickoff Meeting 3) Project coordinator obtains commitment to the AESO project schedule, based upon the scope, assumptions, strategy and risks 4) Review roles of each team member; including: Response time commitments to emails or phone calls; The expectation or requirements of each team member
