In this part, you will learn how to listen for specifics in conversation and the words you
should pay attention to.
1. First let’s read the instructions on page 32, so you will know how to select the information
you want. Please pay special attention when a speaker makes some corrections, changes his or her
mind or says something irrelevant.
2. Now you will listen to the conversation between Ma Yan and Yu Lei about the 2002 World
Cup and complete the note sheet. Before you listen, go over the sentences on the note sheet so you
will know what you are going to listen to and what you should pay attention to.
