Requirements:Unit 1Section I An Introduction to InterpretationA.The Evolution of Interpretation自从使用不同语言的人们开始交往以来,为了便于互相沟通、相互交流,就出现了口译。
口译的历史源远流长,可以追溯到公元前2000多年的古埃及王国时期的爱尔分汀(Elephantine)。
到了14世纪初,法国法学家皮埃尔.杜布瓦(Pierre Dubois)派遣新世界(New World)的印第安人去西班牙学习语言以成为译员。
口译成为一种职业始于第一次世界大战末期,也就是法语在外交界失去垄断地位、英语和法语同时在国际会议上并用的时候。
1919年象征第一次世界大战结束的“谈判翻译”产生了。
第二次大战以后,战胜国成立了纽伦堡国际法庭,审判纳粹战犯,传统的交替传译速度太慢,无法胜任这项任务。
在加快审判进程的背景下,同声传译在纽伦堡审判(the Nuremberg Trials)中诞生了。
B.The Definition of Interpretation口译是将听到或读到的一种语言[源语(source language)]即兴地以另一种语言[目标语(target language)]来表述。
它是人类在跨语言、跨文化的交往中不可或缺的交际工具。
担任口译工作任务的人被成为译员,他们的具体任务是聆听与会者用某种语言讲话,在讲话刚一结束或者在进行之中立即用另一种语言把讲话内容口译出来。
口译的成果是一席讲话。
口译在大多数人看来只不过是一种简单的语言交换或转换,无需任何创造性。
其实,源语作为发言人的言语产物,有其独特的语意、风格等特征。
在口译过程中,译员要力求做到把这种特质以另一种语言构建出来,大到整体的连贯流畅,小到细节的不折不扣。
在整个口译过程中,译员不仅要打破语言层面的障碍,而且还不能忽略语言所依赖以生成的“文化语境”,忠实地表达发言人的思想。

下面的例子常见于中间语体,尤其是非正式语体中。
