Listening to the radio is something that 1 really like to do. Whether it’s to listen

to my favorite songs, catch up on the latest news or just listen to something to help me

relax, the radio is always there for me!

I’m surprised when talking to my students in school, to find out that many of

them hardly ever listen to the radio because they think it’s boring. I always listen to

the radio when I, m driving my car or doing my homework. The radio can also be

very useful for me as it often has traffic updates (最新消息)which tell me whether the

road I want to use has a traffic jam on it.

There is a song by The Buggies called "Video Killed the Radio Star" which I

used to listen to a lot and now it makes more sense to me. Have TV and the Internet

taken the place of the radio for many people?

Now that I am living in Germany I recently managed to get hold of an old radio

for free and so now I like to listen to it when I, m getting ready in the morning and

when I, m making my tea. Of course it can be annoying (讨厌的)when a song that I

don’t like comes on the radio but most of time I like the music that is played and it is

also a good way for me to hear new songs. Listening to my new radio in German is

good for my language learning because I can listen to the news, while also hearing

new German songs.

I’ve always listened to the radio since I was young and thought that it was a very

popular way to listen to music and news, but after talking with my students I have

found that might not be the case anymore. Whatever people think, you will still

always find me dancing around my room listening to the radio!

We all know that the friendship is a good thing. But do you know that friends

have a great influence on your happiness and quality of life? Good friends provide

comfort and joy, and even improve your health. 1 Many of us struggle to meet

new friends and develop good connections. Even when we, re willing to put in time

and effort, we don’t always know how to go about it.

Why are friends important?

Our society often places stress on romantic relationships. We think that if we can

just find that right person, we’ll be happy. But research shows that friends are more

important to psychological (心理的) well-being than our love and family relationships.

as drinking too much. The quality of our friendships is even tied to longevity (长寿).

Technology has changed the meaning of friendships in recent years. With the

click of a button, we can add a friend or make a new connection. 4

Technology can provide social opportunities (机会)by helping you reconnect

with old friends, start new relationships with people around the world who share

similar interests, and keep relationships with friends who don’t live nearby. However,

online friends can’t hug you when you’re upset, or celebrate a happy event with you

after work.

5 So make it the most important thing to stay in touch in the real world, not

just online. You’ll get a lot more out of an in-person conversation than you will over

text.
