Unit5 Reading
I. 教学目标：
1. 知识目标：学习关于描述危险情况相关的词汇
2. 能力目标：快速阅读，了解大意和细节；掌握四会内容；动词一般过去时
3. 情感目标：激活学生情感，学会如何照顾和帮助他人并且进行火灾脱险生命安全教育。
教学重点、难点：理解课文发展的情节，提高学生快速阅读，获取信息的能力
II. 教学过程：
Step1 Lead-in
1. What’s the weather like today? It’s sunny / hot.
(When it is hot and dry, if we were not careful, something terrible would happen.)
2. Present Ss some pictures and talk about the fire. (Lead in some new words)
What happened to the building? ( fire, burn—burned/burnt)
What can you see from the building? ( smoke)
What’s wrong with the man? ( hurt--hurt)
Who are the men in orange clothes? (fireman—firemen)
3. What did the firemen do?
pour/poured Pour(泼) …over
put out …扑灭
help sb. out of a fire — save(救)
dangerous —be careful with…(Ss read the new words and phases )
4. Ask Ss to do exercises in PartB1, check the vocabularies
Step2 Listening & Reading
1. Fast reading for the first time and present Ss some questions. (help Ss to grasp the
main idea of the whole passage)
1).Do you think Zhang Hua is a brave young man? Why?
2).Did he hurt at last?
2. Play the tape for Ss and ask them to put the pictures into the right order
Step3 Reading & Presentation
1. Task A: at the beginning of the fire (ask Ss to read Para1-2), then do some T/F questions.
2. Task B: during the fire (Ss read para3)
How did Zhang Hua save his neighbour? (Ss pay attention to the verbs and phrases)
3. Task C: After the fire (Ss read para4-6)
1). finally, what happened to Zhang Hua?
2). How do you feel about Zhang Hua?
3). What did Zhang Hua say at last？ 4. After reading the news, Daniel wants to tell his mother about Zhang Hua’s story. Can
you help him?

Step4 Practice

2. Retell(复述) the story (ask Ss to retell the whole story according to the hints)

Where: in a tall building
Who: Zhang Hua & Mrs. Sun
What happened: smoke, ran back to, poured water over, rushed into, put out the fire, save
Result: burnt ,was in hospital

4. Fire safety (help Ss to learn how to be careful with fire)
1). If we really meet a big fire, what should we do?
2). Should/shouldn’t
Calm(镇定) down when you meet fire.
Call 119 and 110 for help.
Rush out and take a lift(电梯）to go down.
We can pour water over the clothes when we meet the hot fire.
Cover(捂住) your nose with towels( 毛巾）or wet cloth when leaving.
Step5 Homework
1. Read the passage again and try to retell the story
2. Finish Exercise Part C
